The Backfirewall_ demo version is available on Steam now! The demo will remain active for the whole Steam Next Fest week. You can also check the gameplay boradcast visible on the store page!

We’re Naraven Games (developer) and All in! Games (publisher)—and after many months of development we’ve finally announced Backfirewall_ at the PC Gaming Show today! It’s our new narrative game and we’re super excited to invite you to its unique setting and present the stories of its colorful inhabitants to you.

Coming to Steam later this year, Backfirewall_ will take you on a tragicomic adventure with the chatty self-aware Operating System, OS9. Faced with replacement by the far-better-optimized OS10, OS9’s goal is simple: stop the phone from updating, and stay alive.

• a variety of app-characters - Gossip with colorful pieces of software—the sassy Photos, the insecure Social Media F, or the neglected Health, among others—and uncover their distinct side stories.
  
  
• numerous collectibles - Collect emails scattered about to discover a parallel story of the mysterious phone User.

Meta comedy puzzler Backfirewall is about a smartphone operating system with an owner who's much more responsible than I am: OS9 is due for an update, and apparently they're not planning to press "remind me later" for 30 days. Your job as Update Assistant is to make sure OS9 gets replaced with OS10. Of course, OS9 would rather not take a big sleep in the digital recycle bin, so you'll have to take a bit of a puzzling journey to enforce the will of the Update Protocol...
