We're releasing a game this year! Meet Sisyphus, the Dung Beetle

[p][/p][p][/p][p]Hey, it's been a while. We have news![/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]The Soulchain team participated in this year's GMTK Game Jam, which had the theme Loop. The game we made is called Sisyphus Is a Bug, which is a little knowledgevania about a dung beetle called Sisyphus. After dirtying the marble halls of Olympus with his ball of dung, Zeus punishes Sisyphus to rolling it up and down Mount Olympus every day, for the rest of his life. The only way to escape his eternal punishments is to complete a task that seems impossible: reaching Olympus before the sunset.[/p][p][/p][p]In the game, you'll play through Sisyphus' punishment one day at a time, during which you'll have 60 seconds to explore before tumbling down the mountain, learning new ways to move along the way. The game is a knowledgevania platformer, just like Soulchain! Given the attention we got, ranking among the top 20 most rated and placing among the top 1% in score, we thought this would be a nice little project to expand into a full release before the year ends. You can wishlist it now![/p][p][/p][p]Can you reach Olympus before the sunset? Learn, improve and find happiness when Sisyphus Is a Bug launches on the 14th of November! [/p]
FAQ
  • [p]Will a demo of the game be made available?[/p][p]Yes! You can expect a Steam demo for Sisyphus Is a Bug in the next months.[/p]
  • [p]What will be the difference from the game jam version?[/p][p]Aside from a few quality of life improvements, we're planning on adding achievement and a whole new campaign. This will result in a game with something between 2 to 3 times the content of the original.[/p]
  • [p]Will this impact the development of Soulchain?[/p][p]No! Sisyphus Is a Bug is a much smaller project than Soulchain. We're using it as a way to take a break and explore some design ideas that will eventually make their way back into Soulchain. If you're waiting for Soulchain, you can think of this as a little entrée before the main course.[/p]

A Little Bonus...
[p]We presented Soulchain on a couple of events in these past few months. Here's a couple pics of the team at Gamescom Latam and the State University of Campinas's Unicamp Portas Abertas[/p][p][/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]We're super excited to share with you the full release of Sisyphus Is a Bug, and for Soulchain news to come! [/p][p]See you at Olympus when Sisyphus Is a Bug launches on the 14th of November![/p][p][/p][p]- Moraguma[/p][p][/p]

Wishlist our new game - Soulchain!

Hey, candle stabbers! Been a while, huh?

I've come to announce the launch of the Steam page of the new game we've been working on, Soulchain!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3383610/Soulchain

Soulchain is a non-linear, physics-based platformer about using your soul as a grappling hook. It demands a fair amount of precision and quick reflexes but, above that, traversing the seasons of the Afterlife is all about using your soul creatively, so there's plenty of puzzle-solving to be found. The game's world is heavily inspired by knowledge-based metroidvanias, in the sense that everything is accessible from the get go, and your only limitation is your knowledge about the game's movement mechanics.

This is a project I've been very passionate about since even before Candle Prick was out, so it's really exciting to be putting this out. I hope you're as excited for the full launch as I am!

Oh, and for those of you close to São Paulo, Brazil, I'm also happy to announce that we'll be at Gamescom Latam's Panorama Brasil between the 1st and the 4th of May with a Soulchain demo! I hope to see you there!
