Dev Update - Meet Amelia!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hey everyone, welcome back to another little Spirittea update! One of the big tasks is to breathe life into each of the Townspeople - and that's being done in part with brand-new sets of animations!

With these new animations new being finished, I thought I'd use them to introduce our cast of characters - so first up is the first to be finished, and that's lovely Amelia!

You will have heard us talking about Amelia in our first update video, make sure you pop back to that to see how you'll meet her for the first time!

Amelia likes traditional music, dancing, and gardening, she's best friends with Miko and Quill who you'll meet very early on, and has a little special interest in Clarence (but I won't dwell on that so I don't embarrass her - they're both so sweet!)

You'll regularly see Amelia having tea and farming with Miko, as well as preparing food and practising her Tai Chi!

She's also a big fan of calligraphy, feeling like every brushstroke tells a story, and loves expressing herself that way!

Each Townsperson has their routine, so you'll see them taking part in their own activities frequently!

Amelia is very extroverted, relaxed, and practical, so has become a firm favourite of ours pretty quickly. She just wants to see her daughter (Song) and grandson (Momo) live a happy life, so you'll regularly find her in the shop helping out! She knows the struggle of raising a child on her own, so looks to support Song wherever she can!

These animations are really making the world come alive, and as each one gets added I can't help but get more excited! Let us know which one is your favourite, and we'll look at something new again next week! See you then!

Dev Update - Making Music

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hey there everyone! Happy Friday, I hope you've all had a lovely week! This week's update is a little different, in that it's about our lovely MUSIC!

The music in Spirittea has been pretty important to get right, as it reflects the calm mountain town through each season - it's not just the sprites and your surroundings that change - the music changes too!

To give you a feel for what's coming for each season, we figured we'd share a little of the music with you! Check out our YouTube video above for a little of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter!

So, which one is your favourite? The seasons will play a big part, so we're excited for you to explore them all!

BUT! That's not the only music you'll find in the game! While sorting some sprites and story sections, there are now some BOPS at the karaoke bar! You can play some on your own, or grab a friendly neighbour and do some duets! You'll need an NPC who loves singing, like lovely Leigh! Then you can head out and try out some of our duets!

And with that, the music is just about wrapped up! We can't wait for you to hear it all later this year - see you next week for some more Spirittea

Dev Update - A Big Mess

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hey there everyone! It's Friday, so it's time for another Spirittea update! Since we first released the demo a whole host of things have changed, so I thought I'd round some of them up for you, before showing you my favourite feature that's finally here!

In the last update I mentioned the map - thanks to lovely Granny Amelia's help this is now on the M key, something I know a lot of folks were asking about when the demo came out! Throughout the game you'll need to use the map to track down particular people to help them with their problems, so we've taken your feedback on board and made it nice and easy to get to!

Talking of speaking to people and solving their problems, the order of quests has been toyed with and changed around this week - it's important to us that you're able to find and follow the stories as you play, so alongside being able to track down who you're looking for, we also wanted to make sure we gave you all some pointers as to where to check first! On the new first day, you'll hear about the problems of two of our residents, and armed with your new map and your tea, hopefully, you'll be able to track down whichever naughty spirit is - AAAA, what're they doing there??

Right well, aside from THAT mess, we've also been making our own mess! Let me show you the inside of the bathhouse! We seem to have left it a little long since the demo and well... some spiders seem to have moved in!

We wanted the bathhouse to feel like somewhere you could work on if you wanted and another location for you to really make your own! We also noticed some of you folks in the demo spent HOURS clearing up patches of dust and dirt. So uhh, we made you some more! Surprise!

BUT that's not all the brushes are good for - introducing my new favourite feature (mostly because I am bad at organising my spirits) SCRUBBING YOUR BATH GOERS!

If like me, you dump spirits wherever you have space, it makes them unhappy, which brings you in less money. Thankfully to can cheer them up a bit by giving them a scrub with your brush, which is something I have spent FAR too long doing this week!

There are a couple of other changes balance-wise, but I'll leave them for another day. For now, look forward to some scrubbing, some cleaning and making the bathhouse really yours later this year!

Dev Update - A New Beginning

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hey there everyone! Happy 2023 from all of us at No More Robots and Cheesemaster Games - we're excited to make this the year of Spirittea!

To kick off the brand new year, I figured I'd share some progress of one of the biggest changes to the game that it's had since the very beginning. I touched on in a text update last year - I'm excited to show you it in action.

If you've played our lovely demo, you will have met granny Miko. We love this introduction to the town, but it didn't explain very much about the game, nor how to get around town very effectively. To help, we added a first day to help you get to grips with the town and your new neighbours - calling in our other granny, Amelia!

Amelia will teach you a little about furniture and food, but most excitingly give you a map and brochure, showcasing a whole wealth of activities to get stuck into across town! We also have roped in the lovely Jan to help you track down anyone you haven't met yet, as this adds them to your map so you can find them whenever you need! Thanks Jan! The keen eyed among you will also notice that Jan and Maru got some visual upgrades, and of course that very important pet button!

We're hoping this extra time to explore your surroundings and get a feel for the people, the town and the spoooky goings on will help you get to grips with your new mountain home, and inspire lots of adventures! There's plenty to get stuck into in every season - we can't wait to see which one ends up being your favourite! The seasons influence what you can find, what you can do and of course our spirit friends - but we'll talk about that in a later update!

For now, we're much happier with the way the beginning of the game flows, and we hope you end up loving our quirky band of characters as much as we do!

I'll see you next week for another update, where I can showcase my absolute favourite new feature - I've been waiting for it for a while, and finally I can make my bathing spirits happier than ever! I'll see you there!
