Outbreak: Shades of Horror News

PS5 Launch Day! Cross-platform multiplayer! PAX East 2026!

[p]Hello Survivors![/p][p]We have been down in the trenches working hard on Outbreak: Shades of Horror, and now that plans are solidified, we'd like to update you on what's coming next.

First, the game is now available on PlayStation 5!  Since Outbreak: Shades of Horror fully supports cross-platform multiplayer, you can immediately team up with your friends in up to four-player online co-op even if they’re playing on Xbox Series X|S and PS5!
[/p][p]If you are playing on PlayStation 5 Pro, you'll find that the game is PS5 Pro Enhanced!  You will be able to take advantage of extensive hardware ray tracing.  This beefs up reflections, shadows, global illumination, and overall lighting quality while maintaining solid performance.
[/p][p]For Xbox users, the game now supports Xbox Play Anywhere.  If you own the Xbox Series X|S version of Outbreak: Shades of Horror, you will now have access to the game on Windows PC and handheld (ROG Ally Xbox X) complete with cross-save and cross-platform multiplayer.
[/p][p]The Spring Season update is now available across all versions of the game, including Steam.  This includes the new Sakura Ridge map in Invasion Mode and Raid Mode, unlockable masks to dress your characters up with, and refreshed decorations for the Cypress Reel hub world.  Maps and cosmetics from previous seasons are still available to enjoy!
[/p][p]We've also made adjustments to improve performance and the general game experience.

Next, we have a small update on Story Mode.  We are continuing to work on this major new campaign for Outbreak: Shades of Horror.  While we will be talking a little more specifically about it in Spring, we wanted to let you know that it will feature large maps teeming with secrets and alternate paths, and there will also be a few new gameplay systems included that we are still working on!  We hope you're looking forward to hearing more about Story Mode soon!

Finally, we want to let you know that we will be at PAX East 2026 in Boston, Massachusetts!  Come by booth 16105 and say hello from March 26th to March 29th!  We will have a special demo of Outbreak: Shades of Horror playable alongside a selection of our other games.  We'll be handing out trading cards, selling all kinds of merch (including a PAX East 2026 exclusive item!), and we'll even be giving away some incredible prizes.  If you grab anything from us or bring us anything you might already have, we are also happy to have our development team sign it if you like!

The future is shining bright for Outbreak: Shades of Horror.  More free seasonal content and updates are in the works, as is Story Mode.  For those of you waiting for information on physical rewards including physical PS5 copies of the game, we thank you for your patience as we continue to finalize our plans for distribution.  Once we have more to share, we will alert you all here!
[/p][p]If you haven't followed us on Twitch yet, please consider doing so!  We will be doing a special PS5 launch stream tonight at around 7:15pm ET starting with some Resident Evil Requiem before we jump into the PS5 version of Outbreak: Shades of Horror.  Feel free to come by and ask us questions!  Our regular streams are typically on Wednesday nights at 7:15pm ET where we often show development updates and information, so please stop in if you have time.  All of our streams are made available as VOD's on our YouTube channel afterward, so you can catch up at your leisure!
[/p][p]Until next time, keep survivin'![/p]
