Darkest Dungeon II is available now!

The time has come to face your failures.

Darkest Dungeon II is available now on Steam!

A limited time bundle called ‘The Iron Crown’ is available which includes both Darkest Dungeon and Darkest Dungeon II for 25% off. With Steam’s “complete my bundle” functionality, existing owners of the first game will be able to purchase the sequel at the discounted price.

Note: Steam Cloud Save is not yet implemented for the 1.0 release. We plan to add it in the very near future. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Darkest Dungeon II Releases May 8th - What to expect for 1.0 and beyond

Darkest Dungeon II releases here on Steam in just under 1 week!

Many of you got a glimpse of the game during Steam Next Fest. We want to send a massive thank you to those who played our demo in February and sent us feedback. Based on your comments, we made a number of improvements to our driving system, the Valley and first time user experience - along with a huge swath of new content and features.

We wanted to take this opportunity to discuss what you can expect on May 8th, and beyond.

At launch the game will feature 12 playable characters with a complete narrative featuring 5 acts. Each act is a challenging expedition in which you assemble a party of four heroes and then navigate a series of deadly regions in a quest to reach the Mountain, which houses an imposing end boss themed to that particular Confession. The final two acts and our blight-fueled 12th playable character, The Flagellant, will be new to our 1.0 release. You can also expect to see corpse art, hero palettes, weapon kits, radiant and infernal flames, achievements and a plethora of other features on May 8th.

We’re not done yet, either. The original Darkest Dungeon was well supported post-launch with the addition of town events, radiant mode, and multiple new enemies. Our approach is the same with Darkest Dungeon II. The 1.0 Steam launch represents a new phase of development for the game. Looking forward, we have a number of free updates planned that range from content to quality-of-life. We’ve already committed to new monsters (the Collector and the Gaunt Chirurgeon - more on that enemy here), playable hero origin skins, and of course, ongoing balance and tuning based on your feedback.

Modding support is also something the team is very passionate about. As many of you know, modding has been an incredible part of the Darkest Dungeon community and it's something that we are eager to bring to Darkest Dungeon II. We’ve got a lot of great ideas to facilitate your ability to get creative! Like we did on the original Darkest Dungeon, we are planning to devote time to developing modding tools after our 1.0 release.

Finally, we are excited to announce that our community of existing DDI owners will be able to purchase Darkest Dungeon II at a discounted rate for a limited time! Full pricing and bundle information will be available on May 8th.

We are thrilled to be back on Steam, and look forward to hearing your thoughts. For those of you who were with us for Darkest Dungeon I’s journey, you know we always read the forums and value your input.

We hope to have your support on May 8th.

Final Darkest Dungeon 2 update before launch adds pets, out now

The last major Darkest Dungeon 2 update for early access is here, and it brings an overhaul to the game's travel systems, refinements to several key systems in the Lovecraftian roguelike game, and introduces adorable pets that can help you both in and out of combat. The Redemption Road update is the final one before the Darkest Dungeon 2 release date arrives in May, but there's plenty to keep fans playing in the meantime.

Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC will pay for devs to "keep making cool things"

The creators of Darkest Dungeon 2, the upcoming roguelike which has so far seen significant success in early access on the Epic Games Store, will use a similar approach to DLC as its 2016 namesake, which Red Hook's co-founders and directors say will allow them to continue "making cool things," with plans for both free and paid Darkest Dungeon 2 updates set for the future.
