Pizza Possum News

It's the start of a new week and we’ve seen a lot of crazy possums running around the village.

We're sure you've by now discovered all the ins and outs of this island and the adorable creatures that inhabit it. For those who need a reminder of how to navigate through everything the island has to offer and become the sneakiest possum the island has seen, read through our shortened list below or head over to our previous posts that are linked to each topic:

[h2]STICKY TRICKY BUSHES[/h2]
The bushes scattered across the island are your best friends, but do require some getting used to to properly master. For starters, if you run into a bush while being seen by a guard, the bush isn’t safe to hide in so the key is to keep running. If you are unsure if they spotted you, keep an out if an exclamation mark is over the push. Second, the pushes have thick foliage and you are a food-loving possum, so if you find yourself stuck in a bush simply try moving harder or longer and you should pop right out.



[h2]DON’T FORGET THE CHECKPOINTS[/h2]
Scattered throughout the village are small caves with P’s over the doorway, and these are in fact checkpoints. They don’t automatically unlock though, so make sure to run up to the entrance of the latest one you pass and plant your flag into it.



[h2]HOW ITEMS WORK[/h2]
The items you unlock can be split up into three categories and these are:

1) Active usable items that have a fixed amount tied to them (e.g. energy drinks, bombs, etc) which can be restocked if a floating box contains the items. Note that you can only have one active usable item equipped at any time.

2) Passive stacked items that increase specific stats (e.g. coffee, mint)

3) Wearable passive items, which give various kinds of boosts (e.g. chef’s hat) of which you can only have one equipped at a time.



[h2]CONSUME THE PIZZA, GET THE CROWN[/h2]
The goal for our hungry possum is to get to the top of the island where the dog leader Bella Chonki sits on their shiny throne. Once you’ve managed to distract and navigate past the guards protecting Bella, your reward can finally be consumed and claimed. Eat the pizza in front of the dog leader’s face and in doing so, have them submit their crown in temporary defeat.

Pizza Possum is finally here! It’s short, it’s sweet, it’s mischievous and it’s bringing that local co-op chaos.



So it’s time to embrace your inner possum and scream your way through the village, playing a steady game of hide, seek and eat as you maneuver past the dog guards.

How high will you climb your personal high score? Will you manage to steal all of Bella Chonki’s crowns? We look forward to finding out!

We are counting down the days before we can finally let you all loose on the unsuspecting village, seeing you embrace your inner mischievous possums and raccoons. How much havoc will you wreak, how many times will you get caught, well those are questions we are curious to find out!



And it’s up to you how you want to spend your time scuttling past the guards and through the gates. Maybe you will focus on finding all the collectible zeppoles scattered across the island. Perhaps you will want to climb that high score and best your past runs. The massive foods scattered around the island could also be a tempting diversion, checking off all the various meals you’ve seen listed as recipes in past Steam posts. Or you might just decide to try and get the Tasty Ending, running up to Bella Chonki, eating their pizza, and stealing the crown not once, not twice but a whole three times!



So, when you can finally embrace your inner chaotic possum, what will your plans be?

Everyone in the village knows about Bella Chonki’s crown, as well as two spares if they were ever to lose the one they wear. These crowns are a symbol of power, of grace, of being at the top of the pecking order. Anyone seen wearing the crown should be feared, for they have clearly done something big to earn such a shiny trophy.



So it should come as no surprise that when you manage to get to the top of the island for the first time and steal the crown straight from Bella’s head, the villagers and guards alike will be cautious and more alert around you. Whenever you activate the crown, you'll scare all surrounding dogs but only for a short while, as they quickly recover. For someone wearing their leader's crown is scary, and who knows what a crowned Possum might do.



As you make your second run to the top of the island, the crown will partially help you get up there faster but you must still remain on high alert since if you get caught, you lose your crown and the fear you created in the guards. This happens regardless if you have managed to get one or even two crowns, as the guards will not only steal back the one you are wearing but also any additional ones you might have already set aside at your starting home. And then you’ll need to run all the way back to Bella to steal each crown over again

Bella Chonki, the illustrious leader of the dogs of this village has already received their own introduction post, but there is also something rather odd about them. For you see, if you manage to get all the way to the top of your island using your amazing hide-and-seek skills, you will find yourself standing in front of Bella themselves. And this might become trickier than you might think.



For starters, it’s hard not to overfocus on the massive pizza lying before you, but don’t forget that it’s guarded by all manner of dogs from the patrol. So you’ll need to be smart about what tools you bring to ensure you don’t get caught right before you can dig into your well-earned feast. Second, you have Bella enigmatically sitting on the throne, refusing to budge because who would dare eat the royal pizza?



Then for the final step, you need to eat every slice for the dog leader to admit defeat and hand over the crown, a symbol to be feared that one will dive more into in our next Steam post. So when it is time to actually face Bella, make sure you come prepared.
