Major Update Delay Announcement

[p]Dear Esteemed Magistrates,[/p][p]
We owe you an apology — the major update will be delayed.[/p][p][/p][p]It’s not that we don’t want to finish, it’s that we literally can’t finish it on time. When we wrote the last preview of the upcoming update, we didn’t fully realize just how interconnected everything is. One tweak leads to another, and it turned out to be a much bigger overhaul than we expected — especially with the underlying gameplay logic changes.[/p][p][/p][p]But hey, it’s not all bad news —[/p]
After the major update, even with 5,000 people on screen, it won’t lag anymore!
[p]
Don't just take our word for it — check out the latest gameplay demo: \[Watch the New Demo][/p][p][/p][p]Current Development Progress Summary:[/p]
 1. [p]Programming functionality: 70% complete[/p]
 2. [p]UI adjustments: 50% complete[/p]
 3. [p]Production/consumption balancing: still in progress, as we've just started internal testing[/p]
 4. [p]6 bugs from the previous version: still pending fixes[/p]
 5. [p]A bunch of sneaky new bugs from the new version: lurking in the shadows, waiting to be squashed...[/p]
[p]All in all, we’re now aiming to release the major update around late July.
[/p][p]Thanks for your patience and support — stay tuned![/p]

Update v1.2.1 & Important Announcement

Dear Governors,

Good news! We've fixed the bug that caused cargo and crew members to randomly disappear during sailing.

P.S.
We've recently received feedback about certain game features not working as intended. Upon investigation, many of these issues are related to outdated Mods. Since Mods don’t automatically adapt to newer game versions, using older Mods may lead to incompatibilities. We strongly recommend checking whether a Mod is still actively maintained before subscribing to it.

Important Announcement

After our previous update, we noticed some players were concerned about the upcoming major update potentially making old save files incompatible. Since we didn’t fully explain the nature of the major update last time, some players might be confused as to why a save reset is necessary if it’s "just an experience optimization."

We’d like to take this opportunity to clarify what's coming and why it matters. Here are some of the key features currently in development:

1. Reworked warehouse system – removing the cumbersome supply-demand hauling mechanic.

2. Removed landlords from all residential buildings, increasing each citizen’s productivity and improving city efficiency.

3. Adjusted resource consumption logic for all housing, making resource usage more efficient and giving players more flexibility in resource management.

4. Optimized worker allocations across all existing buildings.

5. Redesigned happiness-related mechanics, allowing for more flexibility in managing population and resources.

6. Revamped commercial building buffs, removing strict combo requirements and offering more freedom in building layout.

7. Improved visual effects for water and fog.

8. Updated builder hauling logic and adjusted build time mechanics to fix the frustrating “construction lock” experience.

9. Rebuilt hunting mechanics and improved wildlife generation, which is expected to enhance performance and reduce lag.

We believe these changes will bring a major improvement to the overall gameplay experience. Our intention is to rebuild the core of the game, laying a solid foundation for future content such as the Maritime Expedition and Imperial Examination systems, which are already on our roadmap.

Yes, we acknowledge that this means older designs were far from perfect. With the experience we've gained since launch, we’re confident that we can make The Grand Estate (满庭芳) a much better, more polished, and more enjoyable game. But to do this properly, we need to rethink and rework some foundational systems.

That’s why we’ve decided that delivering a fresh new gameplay experience is our top priority. Older save files will remain compatible with the previous branch of the game, but they won’t be supported in the new update. Supporting old saves would require a massive amount of additional development effort—effort we feel is better spent on refining and enhancing the game itself.

We genuinely believe this new version of the game will offer a much richer experience, and we’re excited for you to explore this new and improved version of the Song Dynasty city you’ve come to love.

Of course, this is just our perspective as the developers. If you strongly disagree with this direction, feel free to leave your thoughts in the discussion forums. If a significant number of players voice their support for keeping save file compatibility, we’ll consider prioritizing that instead. However, please understand that this would double (or more) the time needed to roll out the planned updates.

We’ll continue to improve the game and do our best to address any issues that arise. Your feedback is always welcome.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support!

Update v1.2.0

Dear Players, our 1.2.0 version update is here!

Here are our new updates:

1. Fixed the issue of game crashes in some cases
2. Optimized the art effect of the gravel road
3. Implemented the function of road widening

Major update preview:

Starting from the next version, we will comprehensively optimize the underlying framework of the game, and make significant adjustments to the gameplay. Therefore, after the next version update is launched, we will open the old version branch, and all existing saves can only run in the old version. The new version requires reopening the save for gaming experience. At the same time, it is not recommended for everyone to install old mods (unless the creator performs mod maintenance after the game version is updated), in order to avoid situations where the game cannot run or crashes.

Due to significant changes in the new version, the next update is expected to be in mid to late June. We hope that everyone will come back to experience the new version at that time!

Update v1.1.0

Dear Players, on this special day of 520, our 1.1.0 version update is here!

Here are our new updates:

1. Fixed the cargo loss bug in maritime circular trade routes.
2. Fixed persistent audio playback when switching the game to the background.
3. Resolved an issue where corpses could become stuck in city gate walls/gates and remain unmovable.
4. Adjusted resource consumption requirements for constructing/dismantling stone racks.
5. Reduced the mandatory employer allocation ratio in residential manors.
6. Optimized visual presentation of the Research interface.
7. Improved responsive design adaptation for English UI interfaces.

We will continue to optimize other issues, and we will complete and update them as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your patience and support!
