Delisting Supermoves, Final Sale and Termination of Online Play 30th June 2025

[p][/p][p][/p]
What you should know
• [p]Supermoves will be delisted from the Steam Store on 30th June 2025.[/p]
 • [p]Supermoves will have a final -90% off sale in the Steam Summer Sale before delisting.[/p]
 • [p]Supermoves will lose online functionality, including online multiplayer and the Makea Editor.[/p]
 • [p]If you have Supermoves: World of Parkour in your Steam library, you keep it forever and can continue playing it offline in the singleplayer mode.[/p]
[p][/p]
A personal foreword from the former CEO Tomi Toikka, Creative Director of Supermoves
[p][/p][p]It's a sad day to announce, but Supermoves: World of Parkour will be delisted on 30th of June 2025. We negotiated to the best of our ability to have the game stay online, with various options presented.[/p][p]Unfortunately, due to the structure of our financing, we have no legal path to keep Supermoves on sale once Makea Games enters liquidation.[/p][p]This is devastating news to the team that worked so hard to bring the game to life.[/p][p]Our game, which was nominated and won second place in the Finnish Game Awards for Best Game of The Year 2024, has become lost media, trapped in an IP limbo, for the foreseeable future.[/p][p]I spent almost four years of my life and hired over 20 people to work on it. While not a blockbuster success, it had great reviews on Steam and over 50 000 players.[/p][p]After shutting down Makea Games, I had hoped I could salvage the game IP to be preserved in another game company, so players could still play the game they own online, and maybe it could see a resurgence in new players one day. But sometimes the cost of doing business is losing something you love.[/p][p]I'll cherish the time I spent working on the game with the greats at Makea Games forever. I just wish I could have played the game online with my future kids someday.[/p][p]If you care about digital preservation, independent development, or public R&D policy, I hope the fate of Supermoves sparks a wider conversation about how we keep creative work alive, even when the business behind it closes its doors.[/p][p]These situations are complicated, tangled in red tape and regret. One day, I hope we’ll treat games as art worthy of preservation and celebration, no matter their commercial outcome.[/p][p]But tonight, we say goodbye to Supermoves.[/p][p][/p][p]- Tomi Toikka, former CEO, Founder & Creative Director at Makea Games [/p][p][/p]
Supermoves goes offline 30th of June 2025
[p][/p][p]We have asked Valve to delist the game from the Steam storefront on 30th of June 2025 as per our voluntary liquidation proceedings and agreement for Makea Games Ltd. [/p][p]Players who buy or play Supermoves before 30th of June will continue to have full, offline access to the game - if you own it on Steam, you can still play it from your library. If you buy it while it's available, you will have it forever, just not with the online features. [/p][p]Please only purchase if you are aware that the online services will not be available - this is mostly for game collectors who wish to preserve this game in their Steam libraries.[/p][p][/p]
Can you play Supermoves offline?
[p][/p][p]Yes, Supermoves features an entirely singleplayer Career Mode that features most levels from the multiplayer with bots to run against, and even a bit of a Tony Hawk's -like story to enjoy. It's got hours and hours of fun gameplay and you don't want to miss out on it. [/p][p][/p]
Which online features will be unavailable?
[p][/p][p]When the Azure Thundernetes backend shuts down, we lose backend connectivity to features that are required for Supermoves: World of Parkour to operate.
[/p][p]The online features that will stop functioning are:[/p]
 • [p]Matchmaking and all multiplayer functionality[/p]
 • [p]Online playlists and online server browser[/p]
 • [p]The Makea Editor and editing levels[/p]
 • [p]Progression[/p]
 • [p]Leaderboards[/p]
 • [p]Explore Menu and the user-created levels over there[/p]
[p]One single achievement requires online connectivity, and it will be deleted from the Steamworks backend so that you can obtain 100% achievements even after the servers are down. The achievement in question is "Bring Your Imagination".[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As the Makea Editor will be unavailable for offline use, the achievement would then be unobtainable. We'll remove it so you can get 100% completion.[/p][p][/p][p]If you enjoyed competing on the leaderboards, you could use Speedrun.com's Supermoves leaderboard as an alternative. Just keep in mind the singleplayer races differ from the listings on that page, as they are different in Career Mode rather than Explore (which will stop functioning).[/p][p][/p]
Can Supermoves be bought from Steam after 30th of June 2025?
[p][/p][p]No. All sales will be suspended as part of our agreement for voluntary liquidation proceedings for Makea Games Ltd.[/p][p][/p]
Was there anything to be done to prevent this?
[p][/p][p]I have exhausted every legal option for this. This game meant the world to me, and the entire team is devastated that this has to happen for us to shut down operations of Makea Games Ltd.[/p][p][/p]
Final Sale - Supermoves -90% off for the Steam Summer Sale
[p][/p][p]Once the Steam Summer Sale starts, you'll be able to get Supermoves for the final sale and biggest discount ever. The game will lose online functionality on 30th June 2025, but continues to be a great game to enjoy even in singleplayer. After 30th June, the game will disappear from Steam.[/p][p][/p][p]This is the last chance to get the game before it is delisted from the Steam Store.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p]
Farewell
[p][/p][p]I thoroughly enjoyed my time being the CEO, Founder & Creative Director at Makea Games. No one wishes things to end this way, and I hope you are kind and gentle towards the development team who poured their hearts into this game.[/p][p]It's been an incredibly tough year for games and I hope everyone lands okay.[/p][p]Thank you for all the runners, level builders and the crazy speedrunning community for enjoying Supermoves: World of Parkour. It means the world to me that you chose our little game for your entertainment. [/p][p][/p][p]Tomi Toikka[/p][p]Former CEO, Founder & Creative Director[/p][p]Makea Games[/p][p][/p]

Supermoves is -75% off! 🏷️

To celebrate Nordic Game Conference, we've discounted Supermoves: World of Parkour to its best discount yet - a whopping -75% off! This runs for about 30 hours from this post, give or take. I don't have a watch with me right now.

Check it out on Steam.

Oh, and the Supermoves: Original Soundtrack is now available on YouTube!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

All new runners should know we're in a bit of a pickle concerning the continued availability of Supermoves on the Steam Store - we're negotiating the IP rights for Supermoves amidst the shutdown of our game company Makea Games. Therefore the online features of Supermoves may go offline in the future - as well as the store page may disappear. This may or may not be the last sale we can do on the game - the ball is now in the other court.

The game will continue functioning on Steam even without these features, and it has a full offline campaign mode that should be well worth the price of admission. Keep in mind we're still negotiating and things can change at a moment's notice - stay tuned for updates regarding this.

It's the best time still to step into the world of parkour - let us know what you think in the forums.

Cheers,

Supermoves won 2nd Place for Finnish Game of the Year 2024! 🏆

Hey runners!

Here's a plot twist for you - we won 2nd Place for Finnish Game of the Year 2024 at the Finnish Game Awards 2025 gala!!

What an incredible honor! While the main prize went to Mainframe's incredible Pax Dei, we're really thrilled we were close in second. We won over companies like Supercell, Fingersoft and Ranela - who are really strong contenders!

Check out the shiny trophy!

With all that's happened, the team has been pretty devastated - but seeing our industry peers celebrate us like this is simply unreal. Thank you to all our players and our community.

Check out all the nominees and winners in this blog post from Neogames: https://neogames.fi/the-sandbox-game-was-named-the-best-finnish-game-of-the-year-at-the-finnish-game-awards-gala/

To celebrate, we're going to discount Supermoves pretty heavily (-80%) next week to coincide with Nordic Game Conference. Stay tuned, I'll make a post about this when it happens!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1959580/Supermoves/

Supermoves is unfortunately still at risk for being delisted from Steam. We're negotiating the best we can to make sure this wouldn't happen, but we're still in talks and as the situation is very fluid, we can't give any dates or guarantees at this time. I am, of course, interested in keeping Supermoves online and available for all players.

I'll keep you posted. For now, let's appreciate this award. What a huge honor!

Celebrating with the team,

Supermoves nominated for Finnish Game of the Year 2024

Hey runners,

We just got notified that the Finnish Game Awards 2025 is nominating us for Finnish Game of the Year 2024!

This is an incredible honor and we can't wait to see who bags the trophy.

You can see all the nominees here: https://neogames.fi/nominees-for-the-finnish-game-awards-2025/

While this bittersweet news is a bit tragic after just announcing we've shut down operations, the team is ecstatic and very happy to hear that we're getting such critical acclaim.

If you're not in the loop, you can read our shutdown announcement here.

The future of Supermoves - Frequently Asked Questions

To keep you informed (as promised), I've compiled a small FAQ here based on all your questions so far, but as said, the situation is fluid and stuff is subject to change. Don't treat this as a bible - this situation is ongoing, things might change rapidly.
What's going to happen with Supermoves? Any updates?
I have only a vague idea on what's gonna happen with Supermoves. I've been in many talks with lawyers, IP people and experts - but I don't have a concrete answer yet. We've been informed that the company won't be able to go down without a bankruptcy (a random bill will eventually default and probably cause us to go under automatically, in the future).

There will most likely be some sort of a bankruptcy auction; but I've been informed that the Supermoves IP will include a sizable "pay this amount" requirement on top of the IP rights, so what we're looking at is something called an "IP Hell", for the lack of a better word.

This would mean it is incredibly hard or time consuming to ever be able to relist Supermoves, as long as that requirement exists. I wish I could elaborate further, but negotiations are ongoing.

This is why I'm informing you early that this might happen, and with the situation, will most likely cause the delisting of Supermoves and its online features in the near future.
Will Supermoves be delisted? Will online play still be available?
There's probably going to be a demand we stop selling Supermoves on the Steam store in the future. This will also sadly mean that the online services for Supermoves will be shut down in the future.

As of this moment (April 28th 2025) online services and the full gameplay experience of Supermoves and Supermoves Freerun is still available. Get a few buddies on, build a few levels and run a few tournaments for old times sake, while you still can!
When will Supermoves be delisted?
If I had to hazard my best guess; a few months from now. That's the best I can do at this point to tell you, since we're not the ones calling the shots in a shutdown situation like this. I do not know for sure and I wouldn't take this as gospel, as the situation is fluid and may cause a minor "company limbo" for a long time, should these things drag on.

I also don't want to make this any kind of a FOMO moment where if you've been eyeing this game that you'd have to take the plunge right now. If you want Supermoves, the best time to buy it is right now, as I'm unable to tell you when I'll be told I'd have to pull the plug. It might be a month from now or a year from now, but a delisting is very likely, pending an actual miracle.
Can you play Supermoves offline?
Yes, Supermoves features an entirely singleplayer Career Mode that features most levels from the multiplayer with bots to run against, and even a bit of a Tony Hawk's -like story to boot. It's got hours and hours of fun gameplay and you don't want to miss out on it.

The online features that will stop functioning if we have to shut down services are:
 • Online playlists
 • The Makea Editor
 • Progression
 • Leaderboards
 • Explore Menu and the user-created levels over there

You can still get all the Steam achievements. I think one of them might require online, but I'll just delete it if it comes to that (the Makea Editor one).

If I could manage to somehow wrangle the IP rights to Supermoves, I could host the servers in a shoebox. The actual matchmaking is done using Steamworks, but the backend (Azure Thundernetes) requires its own thing that has to be hosted offsite - which is the thing that's gonna go under with the company, due to server bills.

There's a thousand reasons why I can't offer you a solution that lets you host your own online stuff. The short of it is GDPR with existing users and levels in the database. The long of it is there's nobody at the company anymore except me handling things, and it's unrealistic to think I'd be able to help engineer a solution to that. For that, I'm really sorry.
Can you discount Supermoves?
Yes, I've scheduled upcoming discounts to be the best we've had yet. Please grab Supermoves, it's a great game (and now critically acclaimed!) - the price we have now is already juicy - but be aware if you're waiting for a discount you might unfortunately find the game getting its store page delisted in the future.

Due to this complicated situation I'm not able to add additional discounts on top of what we've already scheduled (nor announce dates), but the game will be significantly discounted in the near future. Thank you for understanding.

I'll add a notice when and if we have to shut down the online services, so future players are adequately informed.
Can't you just buy the Supermoves IP from the bankruptcy auction?
That was my initial plan when I realized we were going to have to close down the company, but I've been informed that there's some terms which would make it very (VERY) expensive to get Supermoves in any way to myself or to another company. Whoever wants to get the game would have to pay a significant sum on top of the IP rights. It's pretty unrealistic anybody would do that, considering the state of things.

Negotiations are still ongoing and I'll of course relay to you if there's good news and I can keep Supermoves up and the servers running. But I'm being very realistic here that it is very unlikely.

Thank you and onwards

I've been answering your many questions in the comments of the last news post and I thank you very much for all the well wishes. It's a tough situation and we appreciate your kindness in hard times. The team has been overwhelmed with support and I really appreciate your understanding. This isn't what we wanted to happen, but sometimes indie games are a gamble, and it is what it is.

I'll keep you posted, the game discounted and hopefully somewhere in the future I can say what I'll be working on next. But to close this off, I'll do everything in my power to try and make sure Supermoves gets enjoyed for years to come, even if it will take me years to do so.

Here's my favorite picture of the Makea Games founding team, from back in 2022. That skate ramp was amazing for a backdrop. I wish we took more pictures of the entire development team. I hope everyone from the team lands okay, since we all poured our hearts into this and I truly cherish the time we had together.

For now, I'll go to the gala and celebrate Supermoves being nominated for a Finnish Game Award and Finnish Game of the Year, which is an absolute honor.
