Deep dive into the Makea Editor
Hello runners! We’re only a few short weeks away from the launch of Supermoves, and we thought it’s high time we opened up about the level editor in the game - the Makea Editor! This really powerful in-game, real time, easy to use and multiplayer-friendly level editor is built-in to Supermoves and every single level in Supermoves has been made with it. Let’s find out how you can become the next parkour park building maestro!
It’s really easy to use the Makea Editor
We can’t overstate how easy the Makea Editor is to use. Simply go to the Make menu or find a level you like and press Remix. It’s really simple to use, just plop down a few blocks and you’re good to go - if you’re familiar with any kind of other block-based building game, you’ll feel right at home here. You can fly around and decorate to your heart’s content. Everything can be done with a controller or your mouse and keyboard - whichever you prefer!
A world of parkour to build in
The Makea Editor is separated into 10 distinct Level Kits which form the world of Supermoves. Think of them as “themes” that encompass all props in the Makea Editor. Featuring over 300 props and variants, there’s plenty of building blocks to assemble any kind of parkour wonderland you wish!
The Level Kits are:
- 🚸 School Gym; an indoor playspace with ball pits and colorful gym mattresses
- 🏫Schoolyard; the outside of a school with a verdant playful aesthetic
- 🛹 Plywood Park; an indoor skate park industrial warehouse chic with ramps and crates
- 🏭 Industrial; set in a grimy outdoor setting, this concrete jungle is perfect for some urban action
- 🏙️ Rooftops; a huge island city in Singapore with dizzying heights and skyscrapers
- 🏞️ Flatlands; a forest clearing in Finland with grass and trees, surrounded by nature and the land of a thousand lakes
- 🌊 Ocean; a vast ocean in the Caribbean where colorful pool mattresses line up extreme parkour courses
- 🏢 Streets; a boulevard in New York City where you can build a linear track across the world’s most famous city
- 🏛️ Courtyard; a courtyard surrounded by buildings in New York City for intense closed space action
- 🏟️ Stadium; a roaring crowd surrounds a circular arena that hosts the finals of the Supermoves championships!
With this amount of variety, we believe you can truly create anything you wish! You can use props interchangeably, so you can have trees growing inside the School Gym or a ball pit in the Ocean; no problem! All levels in Supermoves have been made with the in-game Makea Editor - that’s just how powerful it is. Get inspiration from our Career Mode to find out how you can make your levels truly shine.
Give a level your own spin with Remix
There’s no need to start from scratch - you can use the Remix feature on any level in the game to use it as a jumping off point - or make a variation out of it! You’ll find plenty of official remixes like night time versions of featured levels as well. In fact, you will find most of the Career Mode levels have been transformed into multiplayer variants; so you’ll definitely encounter a favorite map you’ll want to tinker with.
Change weather, time of day, gamemodes and more
You can customize any map even further by changing the time of day and weather in real time. Make intense rain-soaked Rising Tide courses or tranquil snowy New York City scenes - or see how Singapore looks in the moonlight. You can swap your gamemode to another gamemode at any time. You can even change the soundtrack in any level - it’s really powerful! Feel free to make a remix of an existing map in a different weather or time of day to give it a new coat! Creators of the level are saved so people can easily find the original.
Build together in multiplayer
You can join in with your friends and build together in real time. Just make or edit a level, open your lobby and invite your friends. Invite your friends over and build the ultimate parkour park. You can playtest right in the editor, with no need to leave the game. You can manage build privileges from the Pause menu (and use the same menu to kick out anyone if they’re griefing). You can use your Makea Editor lobby as a hangout spot for whatever you wish!
Publish your levels for everyone to play
Ready to share your levels to the world? It’s really simple - you’ll have to complete only a few steps to get your level published. Give your level a clever name, run it through once to make sure it is possible to complete, snap a picture of it for the thumbnail - and you are good to go! When published, your level can be played by anyone online in Supermoves. Each level gets handy leaderboards to compete on, so invite your friends over and see if they can beat you in your own game!
Get featured
The best levels in the game are featured by Makea Games staff and added to our featured playlists! You’ll find them in their own Featured tab in the Explore menu. Supermoves launches with over 30 Featured Levels that we have found are the most fun to play. Remember to “thumbs up” any level you really like, so we’ll make sure to keep them in the rotation!
Almost there - Supermoves launches August 28th
Hopefully this deep dive has shed some light on how to make the most out of the Makea Editor. To be very honest here, this is our killer feature.
