Demo De-activation

Hello,

Because the game is releasing really soon, on August 25, I've decided to de-activate the demo.
That's everything, just a small heads-up

In the mean time you can check out the latest devlog:

Demo Update 0.6

Hello everyone,

This update aims to polish the game up a bit.
Patchnotes
• Added a "platinum" medal. You can get this medal by beating the time of the developer
• The user before and after you will now be displayed at the end of the level in the leaderboard section (only if you're not in the top 3)
• Added a new music
• Whenever you fall into the water, you'll now become wet. When you are wet, you'll take a small amount of damage over time (even when you are out of the water).
• The timer will now rewind if you rewind, instead of just ticking on.
• Updated all test chambers to have more consistent reflections on for example water
• Changed the death message when dying to water, since you can now also die to water when you are outside of the water.
• Added support for medals in the level editor. You can now customize the time for each medal.
• The enemies are a bit stronger now
• Updated the game icon
• Fixed a bug where the leaderboards for the chambers Tutorial and Practice were displaying numeric values instead of time formats
• Fixed a potential bug where the Subtitles enabled setting wouldn't save.
• Fixed a bug where during dashing you would sometimes get teleported back to the start location of your dash when the dash ended.
• Fixed a bug where if you would slowly walk out of the teleporter, you would sometimes get boosted up into the air.
• Fixed a bug that caused textures on walls to glitch/have weird artifacts when moving closer or further away from them.
Bug Reporting
You can now report bugs directly from within the game itself. You can also give feedback in the same way. You can press F7 to bring up the report menu. There you can choose between feedback and a bug report. You can then provide a small message with whatever you want to say (for example, a description of the bug)

Medals | Demo V0.5

Hi everyone,

With the previous update and this update, I am trying to make the game a bit more enjoyable to play by polishing it! This update brings medals to the game, to give you a clear goal and indication of how good you are doing in a certain test chamber.
Patch notes
• The timer will now count up, instead of down and it doesn't have a limit anymore.
• Added medals. There are currently 3 medals, each with their own color. You can get medals based on the time it took you to complete the test chamber.
• The end screen has been redesigned to make place for the medals.
• Medals will now also display in the Time Per Level window in the menu.
• With speedrun mode enabled you can now see how much time you have left to still get the best possible medal.
• The time will be invisible when you play a test chamber for the first time. The time will be visible once you've completed the test chamber at least once. You can also choose to enable an option to always show the time. This option can be found in the Options menu under Accessibility.
• Water has been reworked. It currently kills you within a few seconds, instead of instantly. This gives you the opportunity to rewind out of the water.
• Health will now also rewind. This means when you get hit and lose health and then rewind, your health will be restored to the previous value.
• The health bar will now smoothly update, instead of snapping to your current health value.
• When you have low health, a red border will appear around the edges of the screen. The HUD will also have some glitch effects depending on how low your health is.
• You will now fall of a wall when you are wall running and press the key opposite to the wall's direction. For example: you are wall running on the left side of a wall and you press D to go right. With this change you will now fall off the wall (only works when Advanced Wall running is turned off).
• You should now lose less momentum when rewinding, especially vertical momentum.
• Bullets now have a sound when flying. This means you should be able to hear them going past you.
• Removed the extra time feature, as there is currently no time limit anymore, so it was useless.
• The top 3 players in a leaderboard will now have a small UI effect applied around their position number.
• Fixed a bug where you could not view the leaderboards from the tutorial and practice chamber

That's everything in this update. If you'd like to see the devlog about this update, here is the link:

The Chaos Update | Demo V0.4

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted anything here, but I've been working hard on adding content. Some of it already made its way into the demo, but I've never made patch notes for them, so those changes will be included as well.
The major thing in this update is the upgrade from UE4 to UE5. This allows for some new features like exploding objects and have physics-based debris.
Patch notes
• Updated the engine to a newer version
• The body of a robot will now crumble into debris when you kill it. The debris will lay on the ground forever
• Added a new endscreen when you complete a chamber. Your time is more prominently shown and there's a small section with leaderboards, so you can directly see your new position.
• Added animations to the weapons and arms. They now move based on what you are doing.
• Added a new enemy. This new enemy has a laser weapon and will shoot laser beams. It has also been added to the level editor.
• The barriers have been remodeled and retextured.
• Remade the textures of the weapon. Now they're more consistent across different weapon parts.
• Changed the text displayed on the next level button to Complete Demo when you've completed the last playable level.
• Zones where you can't wallrun have red walls now, to make it clear you can't wallrun there.
• Added 2 new stats: Chambers Entered & Chambers Completed. Some stats will now also display the average per chamber when hovering over it.
• You can now enable fog in the level editor and also change some parameters. You can also choose to enable volumetric fog, but keep in mind: it still depends on your graphics settings whether or not you can see it (enabled with Shadows on high or epic).
• Added blue lights to the teleporter, so it looks like the blue parts are actually emitting light.
• Added new sounds for the air vents.
• You can now view some extra information in the Time per level screen, like if you have completed all the chambers and how long it took you to complete all chambers.
• Added a new light source to the level editor. It includes some different meshes and parameters you can change.
• The fire sounds for the minigun enemy have been changed.
• Tweaked the movement code to allow quicker turns while in the air.
• Renamed the "General" tab from the options menu to "Accessibility".
• You can now change your FOV in the options menu.
• Made some adjustments to the menu scene.
• The lighting has been updated in all chambers.
• Normal enemies will now drop a high quality version of their weapon, instead of a low quality version.
• Pressing 5 will no longer open the pause menu.
• Added some glitch effects for when you rewind.
• When your controller disconnects, the game will now pause.
• Added a lot of things related to the story.
• The water shader had been remade.
• The blue tutorial/info box on the right side of the screen now fades away entirely of the screen when the user presses J instead of remaining on the screen, but smaller.

These are not all the changes I've made. Some changes are not relevant to demo and thus are left out.

If you'd like to see some of these changes in video format, I've made a new devlog in which I show the process of making it.

Next Fest Demo + small update

Hello everyone!

Thanks for playing the demo during the Steam Next Fest. There's also a small new patch available:
• Lowered the crosshair a bit to make it more aligned with the bullet.
• Changed the bullet drop slightly.
• Enemies will now wait with shooting until they have seen you at least once
• Lowered the water deathbox so you won't be instantly dead if your feet just ever so slightly touch the water without you noticing.
• Fixed a bug where the slide or dash pop-up tutorial wouldn't complete.
• Fixed some lightning issues.

That's all for now. I'll keep the demo up for at least another week.
If you have already played the demo, you can always open up de level editor and create some levels of your own. If you want to share your creation, you can upload your the save file
(found in %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/TheRewindFactory/Saved/SaveGames). I might even put your chamber (or a variant of it) in the full game. I know the sharing process is not very user friendly and I'm working on it.

If you have any questions, you can post them in the community hub or in the discord.
Thanks,

Fire Dev
