Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I've posted anything here, but I've been working hard on adding content. Some of it already made its way into the demo, but I've never made patch notes for them, so those changes will be included as well.
The major thing in this update is the upgrade from UE4 to UE5. This allows for some new features like exploding objects and have physics-based debris.
Patch notes
- Updated the engine to a newer version
- The body of a robot will now crumble into debris when you kill it. The debris will lay on the ground forever
- Added a new endscreen when you complete a chamber. Your time is more prominently shown and there's a small section with leaderboards, so you can directly see your new position.
- Added animations to the weapons and arms. They now move based on what you are doing.
- Added a new enemy. This new enemy has a laser weapon and will shoot laser beams. It has also been added to the level editor.
- The barriers have been remodeled and retextured.
- Remade the textures of the weapon. Now they're more consistent across different weapon parts.
- Changed the text displayed on the next level button to Complete Demo when you've completed the last playable level.
- Zones where you can't wallrun have red walls now, to make it clear you can't wallrun there.
- Added 2 new stats: Chambers Entered & Chambers Completed. Some stats will now also display the average per chamber when hovering over it.
- You can now enable fog in the level editor and also change some parameters. You can also choose to enable volumetric fog, but keep in mind: it still depends on your graphics settings whether or not you can see it (enabled with Shadows on high or epic).
- Added blue lights to the teleporter, so it looks like the blue parts are actually emitting light.
- Added new sounds for the air vents.
- You can now view some extra information in the Time per level screen, like if you have completed all the chambers and how long it took you to complete all chambers.
- Added a new light source to the level editor. It includes some different meshes and parameters you can change.
- The fire sounds for the minigun enemy have been changed.
- Tweaked the movement code to allow quicker turns while in the air.
- Renamed the "General" tab from the options menu to "Accessibility".
- You can now change your FOV in the options menu.
- Made some adjustments to the menu scene.
- The lighting has been updated in all chambers.
- Normal enemies will now drop a high quality version of their weapon, instead of a low quality version.
- Pressing 5 will no longer open the pause menu.
- Added some glitch effects for when you rewind.
- When your controller disconnects, the game will now pause.
- Added a lot of things related to the story.
- The water shader had been remade.
- The blue tutorial/info box on the right side of the screen now fades away entirely of the screen when the user presses J instead of remaining on the screen, but smaller.
These are not all the changes I've made. Some changes are not relevant to demo and thus are left out.
If you'd like to see some of these changes in video format, I've made a new devlog in which I show the process of making it.
