Dev Diary | Bimini

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

Welcome to the point of your destination, the hidden and mysterious isle of Bimini, located behind the stormy belt! The faith of your crew and the existence of the Fountain of Youth — soon you will finally have the answers to all your questions. Make sure you are well prepared for the final challenge so none of the past trials will be in vain.

As the search parties figured, the Bimini belt is protected by a chain of rocks, strong unfavorable winds, and dangerous currents. But since the Natives managed to pass it on their Stormbreaker ships, you should be able to break the way by taking the Natives’ path.

Or you can build an even stronger ship and literally break your way with cannonballs.

Once you pass the Bimini belt you will reach the vast and prosperous island of Bimini — a mythical place covered in jungle and thick fog hiding its mysteries and valuable resources.

Only a few steps — and you’re at the top of the world (well, at the top of Bimini Island, at least)!

The island is crowned by a huge pyramid temple, with several ways leading to it through the jungle, covered with this mystical-looking fog. Looks so peaceful, isn’t it?

If you are willing to find the Fountain, look for the clues. It is also inevitable that these clues will be protected.

Reaching the temple is not enough though. Hopefully you’re fully prepared for what is waiting for you there! You must ensure you are ready for this trial and do not hesitate to step back if you don’t feel strong enough.

Let the final challenge begin!

Patch 1587 | Improved Saving System, New Tutorial, and More

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

We are making the final steps in our Early Access adventure and here goes the patch that will smooth up our way there. Be prepared and enjoy the changes we've made.

The biggest change is the improvement to the saving system, and we're particularly interested in hearing your thoughts on it. There is also a new tutorial, more house customization recipes, the ability to craft using items from nearby containers...

So, while you're updating the game, it's time to look at this patch in more detail. Shall we?
IMPROVED SAVING SYSTEM
The long-awaited improvements to the saving system have come! There are up to four profiles as separate games you can simultaneously play with each one having 10 saving slots. You can save and load them on demand (except for the Iron Man mode).
NEW TUTORIAL
With the game having developed so far, we felt that the existing tutorial should be improved. We’ve studied a lot of your feedback to make onboarding more intuitive and player-friendly.

The new tutorial sequence includes a small island within which a new player learns all basic game mechanics before heading to the Island of Hope. There are new quests and various changes so that players’ exploration of the Bird region is more enjoyable and that the learning curve is not so steep anymore.

Hopefully, these changes are all for the better. Looking forward to your feedback and comments!
IMPROVEMENTS
• More decor blueprints! The list includes chairs (and the ability to sit on them) + a table, a bench, and a stool, as well as several items from Santiago: a wall anchor, a captain's plate, and ship paddles.
 • Now you can use items not only from your Inventory but also from containers nearby. It works for crafting, building, repairing, installing traps, and farming. Less leg work, more arm work!
 • One more resource management improvement! When interacting with a container, you can now move all stacks of duplicate items with one button (stacks that are both in the inventory and the container).
 • Optimized physics of objects and surfaces’ behavior for better performance.
FIXES
• Added the possibility of not using tinder during the ignition process
 • Changed the color of the wood material (now houses and some machines will look a little different)
 • Added a ‘News’ window in the main menu of the game. Because there will be news!
 • Fixed mines’ holes on the Island of Hope
 • Fixed the scroll button visibility
 • Fixed animal outlines in Concentration mode
 • Improved the disclaimer during the game launch
 • Changed how goals are displayed: when all mandatory steps in a group are completed, the next group is activated and shown in HUD (so quests with optional steps work correctly)
 • Bird Potion balance fix
 • Fixed the barrel on the Lonely Rock
 • Localization changes
 • Multiple visual fixes
SEA WOLF PACK
We're happy to announce that the Sea Wolf Pack DLC is out and available for purchase! It’s a set of cosmetic items for your home for those who want to elevate the naval theme in their homes.

The Sea Wolf pack contains 8 blueprints of various maritime items:
 • a ship’s bell that will ring when poked around.
 • an anchor to place on the floor of your home.
 • a ship’s helm to be placed on any wall you want.
 • a spinning globe from the 16th century with the known coast at the time.
 • a scaled model of Santiago.
 • two historical maps of the New World, the map of Piri Reis and the map of Juan de la Cosa to display on walls.
 • a Captain’s Hat with nice bonuses including +100% protection from the sun, +25% protection from the wind, cold, and rain; +5 armor; -5% wound chance and decreasing poison chance.

With the release of this pack, we want to provide you with the option of additional customization of your houses. We hope you'll enjoy this new DLC, as it would also be very helpful for the game development.

Alright, that's enough for now - but not for today, as a bit later we're announcing the full release date (finally)!

Have a great week, enjoy the update, and stay tuned for more news!

Important | Steps to follow before the next patch

Hello, Fountain Seekers!

Next week we're releasing the last regular patch before the full release. Among other things, it will include an improved saving system with the possibility to save and load the game on demand (except Iron Man mode), have various saving profiles, etc. Basically, everything you've been asking us for.

Your saves should be okay after the patch is released. But as it is quite a complex change, we want to advise you to take some extra steps.

So, just in case, please do the following steps before April 15th:

1. Follow the path to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Odinsoft\
2. Copy and paste your whole 'Survival Fountain of Youth' folder on your desktop or somewhere else

If there are some issues with loading your game progress after the upcoming patch release (scheduled for April 15th), you can replace your game 'Survival Fountain of Youth' folder with this one.

But once again, we did our best for this save transition to go smoothly, so you could just load your game and enjoy the improvements brought with this patch.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the Community Hub or on our Discord channel.

Dev Diary | Da Vinci's Ark

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

As the release of the final story chapter is getting closer, it’s time to show you something we’ve been working on. Has anyone asked for a huge ship on which you can build a full base?

We want to introduce you to a new top-tier sea vessel you’ll be able to obtain in the late game. Please meet the Ark ship — a marvel of naval design supposedly made by the schemes of a legendary inventor Leonardo da Vinci.

An exceptional construction allows this vessel to be controlled even by a single experienced sailor, making it a fantastic choice for a lone survivor and an avid explorer.

It is a fast, sturdy, and reliable ship. However, its main advantage over any existing sea vessel in the game is the number of crafting machines that can be installed in it.

The upper deck is equipped with an exceptional storage space with several log storages, a large container, and a comfortable bed to sleep in the fresh air.

It also includes an important tool for underwater exploration — a winch serving for uplifting items from the sea bed that will play an important role in the final story chapter and exploration.

At the bow of the ship, the Ark has a large caliber cannon (a place to install it, to be exact). No, there will be no enemies attacking your ship, but it will be necessary to move forward through the story. We won’t be releasing any spoilers just yet.

The cargo hold is another exciting feature as it not only provides spacious storage space but also allows you to build any structures or machines you want (limited by the size of this area).

A true definition of a floating base that you can arrange to your liking, have everything you need for travels, and make every place feel like home.

The Ark will become available with the last content update/full release, which date is going to be announced very soon. So stay tuned, dear Fountain Seekers, and prepare for the final challenges!
