Survival: Fountain of Youth News

Dev Diary | Farms

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

Well, trees are already regrowing in Survival: Fountain of Youth, and we decided to develop this idea even further, especially since the more activities there are to do, the better. So…

Prepare to reap the harvest!
NEW ITEMS: SEEDS
How to get seeds? When you gather resources from certain plants or trees, there is a certain chance to also receive this nice-looking bag with seeds. Well, we know they don't naturally come in bags, but let's be honest, they’re much easier to sort out this way!

You will be able to grow many different plants that are already familiar to you, along with some new ones (around 20 in total).
NEW MACHINE: FARM
Obtaining seeds is only the first step. Some logs and a shovel - and you’ll be able to build a farm with six slots to grow your plants. There are three tiers - basic, improved, and excellent - with water tanks of various volumes and different times for plant growth.
WATERING AND FERTILIZING
Experienced farmers know that water is the main thing a plant needs to grow. Clean water, to be exact. Good news: farms automatically collect water when it’s raining. So, it's up to you whether to build more water collectors or learn some rain-summoning dance.

For already-grown plants, you can use fertilizers. Fertilizers are made of rotten food in a compost pit - another new machine type. Increasing the speed of fruit/flower/leaf growth + utilizing some of that rotten food = win-win!
NEW SKILLS: FARMING
Growing plants levels up your new skill - farming. It will give you some nice perks: reducing the time it takes to grow a plant, speeding up the resource recovery in plants on a farm, higher chance of collecting seeds from plants on a farm, etc.

And be ready to grow a garden your grandmother will be jealous of!

New autumn plants for your cozy screenshots! Can’t carve it though, but maybe in the future…

While you were reading our guide on farms, the Snake region release date moved a bit closer! It will be announced next week, so prepare your shovels, and if you have any questions about farms, the upcoming update, our plans, or basically anything, please bring them in the comments!

Dev Diary | Snake Region Sneak Peek

Dear Fountain Seekers!

The story of a 16th-century sailor searching for his crewmates and, if lucky, a magical spring, continues. The 4th story chapter is getting close to its release! While a lot of it is still being actively developed, we've reached a stage where we can shed some light on what is waiting for you in the upcoming content update. Let us give you a brief tour of this next part of the map in the Survival: Fountain of Youth world.

So, some facts about the Snake region. It got its name (no, not from the abundance of those crawling creatures) from the Snake tribe that lived here a long time ago. They were skilled healers who gathered herbs and prepared remedies against the most terrible wounds and diseases.

The Snake region will introduce you to a new set of challenging conditions to survive in. Be ready to deal with piercing colds, new dangerous predators, diseases, and story twists.

Silver Island will remind you of the Island of Hope due to its size. It’s a large island with rocks to climb, spreading meadows, multi-level plateaus, and plenty of places where you can build a large base (or several, no restrictions here!). Be careful though, new animal predators are lurking between those rocks...

Would you like a house with this view?

As you may know from your previous adventures, the Engineer and the Doctor left for Sulfur Island to find resources for gunpowder. Will you meet them there? Time will tell.

Although Sulfur Island doesn’t seem particularly hospitable, it’s an essential stop for everyone wishing to finally craft those firearms.

Well, now to Crocodile Island. Can you guess what its distinguishing feature is? A big part of it is occupied by crocodile-infested swamps. This territory is both resourceful and treacherous at the same time. Even though it serves as a great hunting spot and place to gather valuable plants, sharp-toothed crocodiles and malaria may make your stay on the island fatal.

A mysterious Labyrinth lies on the further part of Crocodile Island. Tangled corridors of rocks conceal not only valuable objects but also dangerous challenges. One of them is to find your way back.

As we wrap up for today, we're excited to see your comments and can't wait to share this content with you. Stay tuned for the next Dev Diary in which we'll tell you about farms - an important feature coming with the update.

Hotfix 1442 | Game Freezing Fix and Small Palms Respawn Fix

Hello, Fountain Seekers!

We have one more small patch for you, fixing a couple of bugs.

Here's the list of changes:
 • Fixed the issue with the game freezing on time-skipping processes.
 • Fixed the bug with Small Palms not respawning. Now all trees with logs should respawn from a stump (except for Dead Tree, for obvious reasons).
 • Grass optimization.

Hotfix 1437 | Animals Carcasses Fix and Visual Fixes

Hello, Fountain Seekers!

We released a small hotfix to address the issues reported since the update release.
Here's the list of changes:
• Fixed issues with grass loading in the first and third regions (including grass growing through the floor).
 • Fixed the issue with animal carcasses not disappearing in traps. Unfortunately, this won’t affect carcasses that are currently in traps, those won’t disappear.
 • Fixed textures of the Bamboo Flask.
 • Fixed textures of equipment made of leaves.
Known Issues
• Small Palms don't regrow from stumps right now. Coconut, Date, and Chinese Palms have no issues.

Huge thanks for your reports! As always, you can share them in the comments, at [email protected], and on our official Discord server!

Patch 1433 | Trees Respawning, Game Optimization, and More

Greetings, Fountain Seekers!

Patch 1433 is ready to be downloaded! This time we bring you some long-awaited features — yes, trees, finally! — as well as a whole bunch of improvements, changes, and bug fixes.

As always, thank you for providing us with feedback and suggestions for the new update!

So, let’s jump into some details, shall we?
NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS
• The number one requested feature is in the game — trees respawn now! Finally, you don’t have to choose between a big proper base and saving the ecology of the Survival: Fountain of Youth’s world. Just remember to leave a stump for the tree to regrow — and in a certain number of days, you’ll be able to chop it off once again!
 • Art assets/textures optimization. Can’t promise you’ll be able to launch the game on a calculator now, but as a result, players should experience reduced memory consumption, better game performance, and higher fps. Please note that some textures are not final yet, we'll continue polishing them, as we consider the visual part of the game as important as its performance.
 • Improved animals’ behavior and animations in battle. A bit more natural and less scripted, a bit more diverse, and a bit easier to control with a new red highlight before the attack (Animal Attack Indication — you can turn it off in Controls).
 • Improved Barrel which contains up to 60 units of liquid. Storing water is as important as gathering it!
 • Animals’ carcasses now disappear over time. Just 3 days and you can say goodbye to your pet cemetery!
 • Native support for Sony DualSense (PS5) and Sony DualShock 4 (PS4) controllers.
BUGFIXES
• Fixed the visibility of the ignition failure.
 • Fixed long loading time when traveling from the first region to any other.
 • Fixed the bug with a quiver disappearing when trying to equip it.
 • Fixed the bug with a stingray getting stuck in the monolith and electrocuting when approaching it.
 • Fixed several bugs with loading save slots.
 • Fixed interactive objects that couldn’t be interacted with.
 • Fixed the bug with Set of Tools counting as an inventory item until it is dropped and retaken.
 • Fixed the bug when a character could catch the Burning Sun and Heat statuses while standing in the shadow.
 • Visual improvements.
 • Localization fixes.
 • Multiple small fixes.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Snake region is coming! It is being shaped, built, tuned, filled with features, and tested — and after today’s release, it has our full focus. While we can’t give you any specific dates or details just yet, we promise not to leave you in the dark and share our development news as we move closer and closer to day X! And we’ll definitely have some interesting things to share!
