Update Notes For April 25

Early access is live! Featuring mod support!

The game is now live! Final reveals at launch day include:
  • Modding support for single player - Driver names, textures and AI skills plus car stats and textures are moddable and there's a classic formula model option for visuals
  • A bonus Tiny mode, for which you can unlock all the drivers. Tiny mode is not just cute, it leaves more room on the track for a different style of experience
  • A top-down chase camera as a bonus. Especially useful if you have trouble with traditional top-down cameras


Here is the run down of features for early access that were already announced:
  • single player with quick race and championship modes (AI is much improved from summer demo)
  • spectator mode for watching AI racing
  • online multiplayer with custom room settings
  • time trial with online leaderboards for all-time records and weekly challenges
  • 10 tracks across 5 locations
  • pit stops: tyre compounds with different speeds and durability
  • dynamic weather: plan ahead and react during the race, track wetness changes based on weather and effects tyre grip


So what's next? The key items on the roadmap are career mode, audio update, performance optimization, Steam Workshop support to help with mod sharing and a steady stream of new tracks. Lots of other QoL-improvements and features like DRS are also in the plans. Join the Discord channel to voice your opinion on all the possible features that could be added to the game!



Formula TOP releases to early access on April 21st!

Formula TOP is releasing to early access on April 21st! The early access launch features pit stops, dynamic weather, spectator mode and more. A few new features will be revealed closer to EA launch so stay tuned for news, here are the basics:
  • single player with quick race and championship modes (AI is much improved from summer demo)

Playtest Christmas season

Christmas season is here along with an update for the playtest. New features since the last update include:
-slipstream version 1 (will be adjusted with testing)
-starting lights with reaction based start
-optional dynamic camera mode (toggle with 'C', zoom is now 'Z')
-new track RRC Full which combines all the RRC tracks for one big track
-lap time leaderboards visible in-game (lap times are only counted from time trial now)
-season points awarded for multiplayer races and weekly time trial challenges

The season will end in a finale on New Year's Day, which will also have the first pit stop test races. Join the Discord server to schedule multiplayer racing or go climb the leaderboards in time trials! This week's points challenge is best lap times for the new RRC Full track.


Autumn update for the Playtest

Autumn update for the Playtest is live! Try out the new tracks in practice mode and join the Discord server to see when multiplayer races are on. The full version with AI, career mode, pit stops and more will be released Q1/23.

The most important part of the autumn update is raising the track count from 1 to 4! Ruska Racing Center features three unique tracks in one area: one traditional layout and two very different takes on high speed racing. Rest of the full game's track lineup will consist of realistic tracks.

Some other key elements in the update:
-dynamic camera zoom
-smoother car turning
-lap times are sent to leaderboards (viewing possible later)
