As mentioned before, a Monthly Dev Log has been in the works, and here it is.

After one of our team members was absent for a longer period, we wanted to start with the good news: We're back at full strength! ๐Ÿฅณ


What has happened since the last time


[h2]More languages๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ[/h2]

You can now choose from 12 languages in the new Wild Woods Demo ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Since the Playtest was only available in English, some of you asked for more translations. It was a lot of work, but we're glad we were able to add more languages so that more people can enjoy the Demo. Even more translations are planned (not finalised) for the final release.

[h2]Blackscreen bug๐Ÿž[/h2]

Unfortunately, we couldn't get to the bottom of the black screen bug before releasing the new Demo. That's why we added the disclaimer โš ๏ธ
Meanwhile, Photon (our online multiplayer technology) has responded that the black screen is a problem due to a bad internet connection, which unfortunately either they or we can fix ๐Ÿ˜ฟ We're now trying to make sure that those who are experiencing the bug can see what's going on directly, while the rest of you can continue playing.

[h2]Second Biome๐ŸŒŠ[/h2]

After you have overcome the dangerous forest, new challenges await you in the water: The reeds are sharp as knives, and the water is so deep in places that you can easily fall into the holes. We figured if we were going to create a biome with water, it shouldn't be easy for our cats! ๐Ÿ™€
We also polished the Revive UI and made it rewarding to revive others โœจ


What we're working on



  • We are still trying to fix the controller disconnection issue (some of you may remember this as one of the most common bugs during the Playtest) ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿž
  • Expanding the options in Crossroads based on your feedback
  • Since we're going to PAX East, we need to make some special expo preparations (install QR codes, expand Quit, and more).

During online play, some players are experiencing a black screen due to low internet connectivity. We're currently trying to find out if this is a bug or what else is causing this problem ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿž
Changing the host may resolve this issue. We are looking into a long-term solution.

Every year Steam provides a Fest to celebrate playing your favourite couch co-op games remotely. Sounds like the perfect release date for our new Wild Woods Demo! โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜บ

The Fest starts on Monday, 12th of February, at 19.00 MEZ, and simultaneously the Demo will go online ๐Ÿฅณ

The Playtest has been closed

[h2]It's official: The Playtest has come to an end.[/h2]

Which is a bit sad, but also, we canโ€™t say it enough: It was such a great experience for us! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š
Based on the feedback you submitted, we assume you enjoyed playing as well. It's incredible how many of you are dedicated to the development process of Wild Woods ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Going through your feedback shows us how far weโ€™ve come, but also how much work is ahead of us. Our next step is releasing a Demo. For now, we don't have a specific date to share with you.

And of course, even without the Playtest being online, your ideas and feedback are always welcomed and appreciated. If you havenโ€™t joined our Discord yet, we have channels where you can submit your requests.

End of the Playtest

Over the past few days, we've been busy organizing your feedback. Weโ€™re still thrilled that you submitted so many great ideas!

So, hereโ€™s an update on the current status:


[h2]The Playtest will come to its end[/h2]

Sadly, itโ€™s true: The Playtest will close its doors on January, 29th, 15.00 MEZ.
There are still bugs we have to fix, new ideas to implement and so much more work to do. Due to that, we decided to close the Playtest.

The Playtest was a great experience for us. What was definitely achieved thanks to you! As a thank you, we updated the emoji section on Discord for you. Head over and look out for a blinking Rosie!

Unfortunately, one of our developers is unexpectedly absent for a longer period and we donโ€™t know exactly when we will be back to full strength.
Because of this, we need more time than we initially planned. So please be patient if things take a bit more time than you might expect.

In addition to organizing your feedback, we're also discussing potential improvements for Wild Woods, so that we can release a demo in the near future. That's also why our main priority right now is working on translations, bugs and overall stability.
