Devlog From Behind The Bars #7 New Art Style

Hello Prisoners!

Stand up! Be quiet! Your fav CO is speaking! ;)

We’re back with another update about Prison Survival.
This time, we’re excited to share some behind-the-scenes details about our brand-new art style!

Artistic direction

Our updated visual style takes subtle inspiration from games like Sifu and Road 96. We were drawn to the way these titles balance stylization and realism.

You still wanna brutal prison story, right? So a bit of "cartoonish" graphics and a bit of realism- that's what we are reaching out.

Tools and shanks

To bring this vision to life, we’ve been working extensively with Blender and ZBrush.
Modeling character assets is hard and especially hard if they are stylised.
We’ve also worked on improving lighting and textures to match the atmosphere.
More about environment in future devlogs!

Inspirations

What’s next?

We’re already hard at work implementing this new art style into the game world.
In our next devlog, we’ll showcase these updates directly on in-game environments so you can see the progress we’ve made.
Expect to see new areas, improved visuals, and a sneak peek at the mood we’re setting for Prison Survival!!

Take care, inmates!

Devlog From Behind The Bars #6 - Dealing "stuff" - the REAL prison job

Hello Prisoners!

Stand up! Be quiet! Your fav CO is speaking! ;)

Hey there, future prison kingpins!
Time to talk about one of the most "productive" ways to spend your time behind bars: dealing stuff.

Clients: Friend or foe?

Your clients? Fellow inmates with a range of personalities and needs. Some are desperate for a fix, others are opportunists looking to flip your goods for a profit. Each interaction will test your negotiation skills, timing, and awareness of who’s watching.

In this devlogs i will show you how me made it from scratch - a dealing stuff system. Yeah, thats how i call it.

Don't get caught doing business!

Basics:
-get a client
-get a clue about the stuff
-get the stuff (don't be catched in the meantime)
-go back to client
-get your money or items (prepare for negotiate)
-REPEAT

Simple? And a new movement mechanisc will help you with that! Also some missions will need you to fight or get stealthy. But the main premise will remain.

Get ready to become the prison’s top dealer—or if you just want to survive without getting busted.
Guards, cameras and even other inmates can interrupt your business!

Blue Stuff vs. Red Stuff

Here’s the deal (literally):
-Blue Stuff: High-quality, high-demand, and gets you big bucks. But it’s more risky.
-Red Stuff: Cheaper, easier to move, but not as much profit.

Movement is CRUCIAL. Also specific clients need specific stuff. But sometimes can take the other one. Pick your poison wisely.

Until next time, stay sneaky! ;)

Devlog From Behind The Bars #5 - New movement

Hello Prisoners!

Stand up! Be quiet! Your fav CO is speaking! ;)

What’s new?

We’re testing out a shiny new movement system to keep things fresh and chaotic in the prison.
Some creative ways for you to navigate the prison, including:

-Quick dashes
-Obstacle vaults
-Sliding
-Running on the walls (really!)

These new movement options add more strategy to how you play!

Movin’ and groovin’

Right now, the animations are in "work-in-progress mode".
Things might look a little "goofy" while we tweak the physics.
If our inside tests are gone positive, we are adding this great movement options to full game!

Why change it up?

Adding new ways to move makes the game more dynamic, whether you’re escaping trouble, chasing opportunities, or just exploring prison. And you will hav emore fun with your MAIN PRISON ACTIVITIES ;)
What are those? See in next devlog!!

Devlog From Behind The Bars #4 - Prison tattoos

Hello Prisoners!

Stand up! Be quiet! Your fav CO is speaking! ;)

Welcome to another devlog for Prison Survival Architect of Crime Simulator.
Today, we’re diving into the world of tatoos ;)

Tattoos: Your Mark of Identity

Do you have any tattoos?
I don't have any but maybe some day i will get a gaming-inspired one ;) Like... healthbar on the forehand!

In Prison Survival Architect of Crime Simulator, tattoos are more than just a visual element – they reflect your prisoner’s status, gang affiliation, and accomplishments.

Crafting the tattoos for the game was a challenging yet rewarding process. We took inspiration from real-world prison tattoos as well as contemporary street art.

We paid special attention to details like shading, skin texture, and even imperfections like ink smudges to make the tattoos feel gritty and authentic.

Many of these tattoos are linked to specific gangs, meaning wearing one can impact how other prisoners interact with you, affecting everything from alliances to confrontations. You can earn tattoos designs through various missions and quests.

Tattoo Editing System – Your Body, Your Rules

Tattoos in our game go far beyond pre-made templates. We’ve created an advanced tool that allows players to fully customize tattoos, including the ability to design and upload their own images!

Remember? You saw that feature in our trailer :D

Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone

Devlog From Behind The Bars #3 - Gangs and your prisoner

Hello Prisoners!

Stand up! Be quiet! Your fav CO is speaking! ;)

Welcome to another devlog for Prison Survival Architect of Crime Simulator.
Today, we’re diving into two important features:
-How we made a prisoners
-Initial first info about gangs in prison

Designing the Prisoners

Creating the prisoners in Prison Survival Architect of Crime Simulator was one of the biggest challenges we faced. We wanted to design characters that felt dynamic, gritty, and reflective of the harsh realities of life inside a maximum-security prison

The process of building these prisoners involved a lot of detailed work, not just in terms of their visual appearance, but also in how their bodies, personalities, and behaviors evolve over time.

We concentrated on the realistic FACES. Why? In first person perspective games you will see the faces of the characters very often and very CLOSE BY.
The face of your prisoner isn't static; we built a system where facial expressions react to in-game events, like getting into fights, dealing with stress, or even forming alliances.

Face almost ready. Doesnt it look like a high quality mask you can buy?

We wanted the prisoners to have faces that tell their story – from hardened criminals with scars and angry expressions, to more calculating inmates with cold, piercing eyes.

Not a good day to be a prisoner

Prison Gangs: Power, Loyalty, and Danger

For now we have 3 main "factions" in Prison Survival (and the Guards but you can't join them ;) play Prison Simulator for that :D).

Each gang has a distinct tattoo style, which you can further customize to immerse yourself in the role of your prisoner.
Choosing or modifying a tattoo tied to a gang will affect your relationships with other inmates and influence gameplay in unique ways.

There will be more informations about tattoos in the next devlog!!
