1.6 - Safety First!

[p]Hi Creators![/p][p]The highly anticipated v1.6 is now live! 🎉[/p][p]First up, I’ve upgraded the game engine to Unity 6 (2025) to meet mobile requirements, which is quite the leap from Unity 2021! This brings improved stability, security, and performance across the board.[/p][p]Next, there’s a new age selection system. On your first login, you’ll be asked for your date of birth. This info is never shared or uploaded. Like in Roblox or Clash of Clans, it helps provide a safer, age-appropriate experience for everyone.[/p][p][/p][p]Finally, we now have a moderation system! Moderators can kick or ban disruptive players, and hosts can still kick players in their own worlds. Please use the forum to report players or appeal bans. Photo Mode!

Hi Creators!

You can now enter free-cam in Creative Mode to take clean, high-quality screenshots of your creatures. Fly around the scene, find the perfect angle, and capture your creations. The default keybind is Ctrl+P, but this can be rebound in the settings menu.

Also in this update:
  • XP is now awarded for defeating NPCs.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements, including issues with footsteps, lighting, NPC behaviour, death messages, the tutorial, and more.

Bug Fixin'

Hey Creators!

I've fixed some minor bugs and added a few quality of life improvements! :)

  • Add number above chat menu's handle to indicate the number of unread messages.
  • Add button to load a creator's username in factory item menu.

[h3]Fixed:[/h3]
  • Fix bug that prevented players from playing singleplayer after hosting a multiplayer world.
  • Fix error for held items when joining game.
  • Fix cross-platform player accounts sign in.
  • Fix camera view offset.
  • Fix connected foot rotations (e.g., feet now rotate when dancing).
  • Fix minigame bug by preventing players from swapping between modes when minigame build time
  • Fix player chat menu.

[h3]Changed:[/h3]
  • Show most popular items
  • this month* in the workshop by default.
  • Increase factory quest size on City map.
  • Increase tiered framerate buffer (10->15).
  • Turn tutorial off in settings (for future games) after having started it.
  • Prevent downloading multiple items at once from factory. (MOBILE)
  • Update loadable creatures on premium purchased. (MOBILE)
  • Reset workshop download limit (today) even when all parts have already been unlocked in the daily reward. (MOBILE)
  • As requested here, I've also reduced the XP requirements to teleport between maps:
    • Island Farm: 50XP
    • Farm Sandbox: 100XP
    • Farm Cave: 150XP
    • Farm City: 200XP
    • Cave City: 200XP

Cross-platform factory, timed mode, asymmetry, XP and more!

Hey Creature Creators!

A new update is now live with a tonne of new features, fixes and optimizations!

Here is a summary of all the changes:

- Add cross-platform factory (i.e., Steam workshop) support to the main menu
- Add timed mode with online leaderboards
- Add asymmetrical body parts functionality
- Add shine and metallic properties to individual body parts
- Add player world chat side-menu
- Add an experience system (XP level is now prepended to online player names)
- Add zoom in/out and flip buttons
- Add button for hold ability
- Add fire breath keybind
- Add role title during the building phase of Kaiju Hunt
- Add setting to optimize lighting
- Remove cash (unlocks, quests, battles, and mini-games now reward XP instead)
- Remove nudge distance check so that parts can be nudged anywhere within the platform (no need for save/load glitch)

[h3]Changed:[/h3]
- Optimize UI and the load time for the main menu and game scenes
- Optimize lighting (lights disabled at threshold distance, lights fade in/out when entering/exiting a dark area and maximum light sources per creature (4 for local and 2 for remote creatures))
- Replace “Big Time Spender” achievement with “Experienced Creature”, since cash has been replaced with experience
- Increase min/max camera angle (clamped while editing)
- Increase max warnings for tiered framerate (250 ticks)
- Reset target framerate to 60fps for mobile on startup
- Move arm body parts from Farm to Cave, Sandbox and City to ensure timed mode quests can be completed
- Double health contributed by body weight
- Show minigame pads in singleplayer worlds
- Prepend modded and beta worlds with coloured tags

[h3]Fixed:[/h3]
- Clamp bones to x=0 when dragging to prevent twisted spines
- Fix critical issue that occurred when players disconnected during a minigame
- Fix statistics not updating on load
- Fix world chat throwing errors when disabled
- Fix all issues with Kaiju Hunt and NPC AI
- Prevent damage from being taken and save/load operations while editing
- Fix Minigamer achievement
- Fix legacy progress data migration issue
- Fix "We Are Alike" comparison check
- Fix raft issues
- Check if eye, pattern and platform exists before showing tutorial
- Reset underwater state on death

1 Year Anniversary!

Hey everyone!

Creature Creator just celebrated its first birthday! 🥳🎉

Over the past year, almost 400,000 players on PC and Mobile have created creatures in 13 languages around the world!

The game has received tonnes of in-game updates, as well as a website, merchandise store, education edition, and animated short film! It has now even evolved into a franchise with 2 new CREATURE games in the works!

I have huge plans for the future! Right now, I am busy working on a massive YouTube video in which I will take you behind the scenes and discuss the development journey so far!
