Creature Creator: Mobile

Hey everyone,

[h3]Creature Creator is going mobile![/h3]

You can now pre-order the game for iOS and Android on the Apple and Google Play app stores:

And YES, you will be able to play cross-platform multiplayer, meaning that mobile and PC users will be able to create creatures together!

The Factory

[h2]The Factory[/h2]
Share your favorite creatures with the community! Popular trending creatures for the week are featured in the main menu. You can view all the creations in the Steam workshop. To send a creature to the factory (i.e., upload to the Steam workshop), just click on the share button next to its name.

[h2]Optimizations[/h2]
The game underwent some major optimizations which improved both performance and file size! The total size of the application was reduced from ±3GB to ±0.6GB without any noticeable degradations in quality. Creature construction time was also reduced by 85% (previously a large creature would take ±120ms to construct, and now it takes ±20ms). This means no more lag spikes during a multiplayer game session when lots of players are constructing creatures at the same time. The average performance has improved a lot as well due to lots of factors like optimizing creature animation (e.g., disable movement when too far away), GPU instancing, static batching, optimized shaders, terrain and water LOD, occlusion culling, baked lighting, optimized textures and audio, etc.!

[h2]Map Changes[/h2]

There were also a few changes to the Farm and Cave maps:
  • Farm: The beach has been populated with palm trees and grasses and a pathway was added to the locked chest. The orchard and ranch were resized and more trees were added. Two moving platforms were added to the lake. Crystals now emit light in the cave. Background terrain was added with extended roads. The number of trees were reduced in the forest. Coins for the "Wishing Well" quest were moved closer to the well. Snakes were removed from the forest.
  • Cave: Added Basalt platforms and fixed the moss. Lighting is now properly baked as well and light probes have been used for realtime dynamic objects to receive lighting.


[h2]Other[/h2]

There are lots of minor changes or improvements, but here are some of the most noteworthy:
  • Corpses are now edible (nice, cannibalism) and float on water.
  • Added Turkish language.
  • Added Night Vision ability.
  • Added a native file browser for importing and exporting creatures!
  • Created a new app icon!
  • Scrolling on a creature's body targets the nearest bone.
  • Held items are offset to a creature's hand.
  • Add sense factor to noses and ears (which increases visibility for parts).
  • Add launcher trajectories.
  • Right click to flip parts along the local z-axis.
  • Added camera shake when you take damage.
  • Limit number of light sources per creature.
  • NPCs move to different position when attacked.
  • Prevent drowning when on rafts.
  • Added ambient particles setting to disable clouds and particles in the cave.

v1.1.0-3 - Bug Fixin'

Added:
  • Add walk, run and jump (landing) footsteps for grass, dirt, sand, rock and water. (Note that this can be disabled from the settings menu!)
  • Add kicked list to lobby data using SteamId, so players cannot rejoin online worlds they have been kicked from.
  • Add world hints to teleporters and blinking icons to minimap when you are ready to advance.
Fixed:
  • Fix "Could not resolve 'x' because it is not a child Transform in the Animator hierarchy” warning messages.
  • Fix bug where the language would change unexpectedly. (Hopefully...)
  • Fix teleporters not updating the number of players in multiplayer.
  • Fix body parts overlapping in the editor.
  • Fix minimap not disabling zones when entered.
  • Fix issue where you couldn't change your language.
  • Fix issue where releasing tools wouldn't register.
  • Fix worlds with different versions.
  • Fix linked quests not aligning to the player's view.
  • Fix issue where holdable items (i.e., pickaxes) could fall outside of the world border.
  • Fix mine coal text.
  • Fix highest point flag in creative mode.
  • Fix colour palette override text.
  • Fix kicked localisation.
Changed:
  • Move all coal deposits to the mineshaft in cave.
  • Reduce dance cooldown to 60 seconds
  • Change "Beetlesnatch" author to "MAVG".
  • Disable command input debug manager.
  • Make all props in Farm walkable.

Map: The Cave



Explore the cave to unlock 14 new parts and 12 new patterns, and mine coal to complete the new quest!
Tip: To unlock the cave in Adventure mode, enter through crack in the cave on Farm!

This is the 2nd largest map but the most confusing, so use the minimap to help navigate. Remember that you can fast travel by clicking on an editing platform to teleport to it!
