Kitty Diary #1 - Stroking Cats
Hello, Quilters! Today we’re coming to you with a very first kitty diary post. This time we’d like to present you one of the features which we hope will help Quilts & Cats of Calico stand out among other digital board games.

Petting cats!

Yup, some of you already have had an opportunity to pet kitties in the demos. But for those who didn’t have a chance to do so: you can pet cats wandering around the board during your whole game!

While creating petting mechanics, we studied dozens of cats' moves and reactions to human touch. We used real-life shots of playing with cats to create close to realism, stylized interactions with animals. We wanted players to be able to feel close to our kitties.

At first, which you could see in the game’s demo versions, cats were mostly standing while being petted. You will see in the future that – like in real life – cats respond differently to stroking in different positions. They will behave differently when you stroke them as they stand, sit or lie down. Our cats are unique. They will even let you rub their bellies! Below you can see the belly rub animation we are currently working on:

Cats also make their specific moves while they’re being petted. They react to your touch and try to brush against you, wanting to be pet even more. You can observe it spending time with cats in Quilts & Cats of Calico.

We’ve also added one, hidden interaction with the menu kitties… but we won't reveal anything more. Just get to know one of the kitties, maybe you’ll discover it. ;)

That’s it for today’s kitty diary. Next time we’ll explore another aspect of the game, which we created especially for our Quilts & Cats of Calico version of the game. What is it exactly? You’ll find out very soon. Stay tuned!
