Beta Testing Starting Meow
Beta testing of Quilts & Cats of Calico has officially started!
Steam activation keys should now or soon be dropping into your email inboxes. If you don't find a message within an hour, remember to check your spam folder and if you don't find an email from us there either, message us!

Below you'll find useful info on reporting bugs. You'll also find them in the email with an activation key:

How to report bugs

In the game, there is a special reporting button that you should be able to click. This opens a reporting screen.

This way we will receive a screenshot, the game's save, and your message. It makes fixing the bugs a lot easier.

Please write the description of the bug in the title, it's just one quirk of the tool and the way we work with it.

If you want to discuss the bug with us or other players you can also create a discussion on the beta-forum on Discord (link below).

For complex bugs, you can attach the "Player", and "Player-prev" and save files to your reports. Send them to [email protected] with a description of the issue and preferably, how it happened step by step. Put "Calico Steam Beta" in the title of the email. Below is the instruction on how to reach the files:

Player and Player-prev (send after you close the game):

- Open up Windows Explorer (to the left of the search bar) and type the following into the address bar: C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Monster Couch\Calico

- Press Enter. This will take you to the Quilts & Cats of Calico beta log folder where you will find the player.log file.

Saves location on Windows: AppData//LocalLow//MonsterCouch//Calico

Game log & saves location on Mac: ~/Library/Logs/MonsterCouch/Calico/

https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/reveal-library-folder-in-macos/

If you want to send saves, look for Game Configuration0.cjc and Requests0.cjc files and always send us both of them together.

Impressions

It's great when people share their impressions with us. We read everything you send our way and the least we will do is talk it through here internally!

So go ahead and create a thread on the beta-forum on Discord or send it our way via the reporting tool inside the game.

If you see something off or something that just seems a little off don't assume we know about it and feel welcome to report it. 🙂

All beta participants are welcome to our Calico Discord server to discuss beta-related issues there. If you're not in the crew yet, you can join by leaving your reaction in the beta-playtest channel.

Beta testing will last until September 25th, 2 pm CET. We wish you a great playing and we're looking forward to your feedback!

P.S. If you know of any people who have not yet signed up for the beta tests and would like to participate, please send them the form for their applications. We will be happy to invite them to play the beta.

😻Beta Testing is Coming😻
Hello Kitty Lovers!

Work on Quilts & Cats of Calico is in full swing, and it's high time to show you even more of the cozy cat world.

We invite you to the beta testing of Quilts & Cats of Calico! It will run from September 19 to September 25 here on Steam.

This time we will give you a completely randomized gameplay mode with AI and local multiplayer, as well as a cat editor! You will be able to play several games as well as create your own cat to put in the game! (And it can, of course, wear a hat.)

How to participate?

You may have already signed up for the first playtests or by providing your email during Gamescom and PAX. Then you don't have to do anything, just wait for a message from us. If you have not done so, please fill out THIS FORM. When the time comes, we will send out Steam keys for the beta to everyone, along with activation instructions.

We also encourage you to join the Quilts & Cats of Calico server on Discord, if you haven't already done so, and assign yourself to dedicated testing channels (add yourself a role in the #beta-playtest channel). We're very keen on your feedback and on Discord we'll be the quickest to pick up and check on any information or potential issues with the game.

Hope to see you soon,
Quilts & Cats of Calico Team
Kitty Diary #1 - Stroking Cats
Hello, Quilters! Today we’re coming to you with a very first kitty diary post. This time we’d like to present you one of the features which we hope will help Quilts & Cats of Calico stand out among other digital board games.

Petting cats!

Yup, some of you already have had an opportunity to pet kitties in the demos. But for those who didn’t have a chance to do so: you can pet cats wandering around the board during your whole game!

While creating petting mechanics, we studied dozens of cats' moves and reactions to human touch. We used real-life shots of playing with cats to create close to realism, stylized interactions with animals. We wanted players to be able to feel close to our kitties.

At first, which you could see in the game’s demo versions, cats were mostly standing while being petted. You will see in the future that – like in real life – cats respond differently to stroking in different positions. They will behave differently when you stroke them as they stand, sit or lie down. Our cats are unique. They will even let you rub their bellies! Below you can see the belly rub animation we are currently working on:

Cats also make their specific moves while they’re being petted. They react to your touch and try to brush against you, wanting to be pet even more. You can observe it spending time with cats in Quilts & Cats of Calico.

We’ve also added one, hidden interaction with the menu kitties… but we won't reveal anything more. Just get to know one of the kitties, maybe you’ll discover it. ;)

That’s it for today’s kitty diary. Next time we’ll explore another aspect of the game, which we created especially for our Quilts & Cats of Calico version of the game. What is it exactly? You’ll find out very soon. Stay tuned!
