Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom News

Big Demo Update one week before launch because that’s how we roll!

Hello everyone!

Even though we’re spring powered, it feels like we’re firing on all cylinders with just one week left till launch! One last coat of paint and our tiny taxi is ready to take on the world, but in the meantime, we wanted to say thanks for all the support with a little taste of things to come!
The Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom free Demo has been heavily updated and is available on Steam, right now!
It’s no surface level tune up either, you can expect things like different areas, new camera movements, huge graphics upgrades, tons of quality of life and level design improvements, plus a new minimap! And these barely scratch the surface, full patch notes can be read below, in all their glory.

As we’re gearing up for the final stretch, things are getting chaotic but also very, very rewarding. Thank you all for the interest you’ve shown for our little taxi game and please wishlist if you haven’t already. We even made a special game-breaking hat just for you!

See ya on launch day
You’re the best!
Demo version 0.93 patch notes
• Added Minimap for levels and sub areas
  • Lab and Granny’s Island are now treated as 2 different areas.
  • Camera and taxi now interpolate movement at higher frame rates, resulting in a smoother action were possible.
  • Added an auto-checkpoint system in certain areas. Traditional checkpoints still serve a purpose for when you completely run out of time, or for Mori-o-trons. Certain areas are not allowing auto-checkpoints. Those areas fall back on traditional checkpoints. Checkpoints still save the time you collected, in time based levels.
  • Added the possibility to look around
  • Demo no longer has photo mode (still present in release)
  • Huge graphics rework:

    • New 3d models
    • New textures
    • Backgrounds
    • Vertex painting
    • New visual effects
    • Ambient occlusion
    • Antialiasing
    • Other stuff I can't remember, as we literally reworked the whole game
  • Reworked the inside of Morio’s home.
  • Reworked buildings. Now the taxi is supposed to walk on rooftops by level-design.
  • Other game/level design improvements
  • Removed Arcade Panik from the public demo
  • Added a bunch of settings
  • Fixed too many bugs to list them here (or remember hehe)
  • Many quality of life improvements

Join the Wishlist drive for our ever-growing Limited Edition Burger Hat!

Hi everyone,

We’ve been so blown away by all your support that we decided to give out a special treat, made exclusively for our awesome community. The love you’ve shown for our game & launch trailer means the world to us as we approach the big day!

Introducing the Limited Edition Burger Wishlist Hat!

We’re working on a crowd-sourced in-game hat in the shape of a glorious, towering burger. How big the burger gets, depends on how many of you Wishlist the game before April 9th! Each wishlist goal will unlock a new layer to the Burger Hat.

We test-drove the idea on Twitter and we’ve already blown past a bunch of layers - dentures, engine, ketchup, bricks and even a spooky skeleton! The makings of a very delicious burger!

To find out what comes after, all you have to do is drive up our Wishlist count. If you already Wishlisted yourself, why not influence others? We’re not saying you should rent a small plane and write it across the sky but, like, what if…?

Next tier is 11K Wishlists!

Can you guess any of the upcoming layers from their outline? Wrong answers only.

One last thing, the Limited Edition Burger Hat will be available to claim to everyone who buys the game within the first month of launch. After that it’s beyond your reach FOREVER!

We’ll be back soon with more updates on the hat, and more.
Byee!

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom is an N64-style platform collectathon with no jump button

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom already has a descriptive name, but its new trailer omits it in favour of a better encapsulation of its pitch: "You're a N64 taxi and there's no jump button?". The video itself is sixty seconds of pure, colourful joy, and it ends on a release date: April 9th.
