v0.50 - New Fish Graphics, New Eyes & Mouths

I have added new goofy eyes and whacky mouths!

Now you can be a sleepy vampire and run about your base with your eyes closed.

For older saves, note that you can still change your current character's faces even after starting a game via your profile!

New fish graphics have also been added as I have been told the old ones look like origami fishes!

Features:

- Added 2 new eye and mouth customization options in character selection
- New graphics for fishes
- Storage box icons should show up to 4 resources now

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed crane taking and depositing into storage boxes repeatedly
- Fixed an issue where cooking/using workshop caused a crash

v0.49 - Firefighting

It was previously confusing how to deal with fire, so I have changed that!

When you select a building that is on fire, you can now use water to put it out!

New firefighting research has also been added.

Also fixed a hilarious but unintentional issue where settlers were grabbing ice from a storage to eat if you had Teriyaki and another consumable food in the same storage.

Sprinting

While the following aren't available in the demo, I thought I'd show a sneak peek of some of the new content that will be available in the full version!

Some of these will be made available in the Beta some time after Steam Next Fest.

I added new potions. Potions add a buff and allow for temporary bonuses.

The strength potion allows settlers to carry more items at once.
The stamina potion lets you sprint.

A sprint function will be added. The ability is unlocked after unlocking magic cauldrons.

New storage boxes were added in v0.48, but I didn't make an official update note so I am writing it here :)

Prior to the update, storages could only store one item. I've adjusted this based on feedback from players on Discord, so they can now store four items.

Cranes, Automation, Housing Variations

While some of these aren't available in the demo, I thought I'd show a sneak peek of some of the buildings that will be available in the full version!

A new experimental technology has been discovered...

Houses were also made more varied in a previous update.

Optimizations had also been made to the characters UI. If you had 50 settlers or more, it would get laggy to open the UI but this update should take care of that!

As I did not share the previous update changelog, here's the v0.47 changelog for history:

Features:

- Added Cranes, a new automation facility (Paid version only)
- Fixed lag when opening characters UI when you have many characters
- Slight optimizations for maps with many buildings and settlers/bots
- House appearances now have slight variations
- You can now view leaderboards without signing in

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed another error preventing uploading to cloud
- Added missing wizard trait icon

Welcome to Havendock. The demo is live now!

Hi, I’m Ying Zhi (you can call me YYZ!) and I’m the creator of Havendock. It’s a colony management sim where things escalate quickly: you start as a lone castaway, and building a high-tech society while attracting other survivors.

For the past few months I’ve been developing a water world of wacky ideas and clever inventions. Now you can try out some of them and play the Alpha Demo during Steam Next Fest.
You can even play it with your friends! Although please keep in mind that co-op mode is rough now, and you may face some critical bugs there.

As a solo developer, I’m immensely grateful for everyone playing Havendock and your feedback.
In the demo you’ll find a brief questionnaire where I’d love for you to share your honest thoughts about my game!

The Alpha Demo is just a preview, and there’s more coming soon!

Want to see something in the game? Just tell me on Discord! Feel free to go on there and tell me what you think of the game, or just to have a casual chat! :)

Havendock is in open development – in the coming months I’ll be inviting our Discord community to the Open Development Beta with more content and frequent updates.

Join the community Discord to participate: https://discord.com/invite/PSkrsdhDaH

And finally, if you like the game, don’t forget to follow and wishlist it on Steam. It means a lot, and you’ll be notified when Early Access officially starts – around Q1 2023!
