July 14th Yomi 2 Patch Notes

[p]Yomi 2 digital update! This time, we’ve added “Asynchronous Online” mode, a few optimizations under the hood, and some bug fixes as usual.[/p]
July 14th, 2025 PATCH NOTES

--------------------------------------------------

NEW CONTENT
[p]Asynchronous online games are here!

In an async game, you don't need to be online at the same time as your opponent. Instead, you can make your move whenever you're ready, then go offline and your opponent has up to 72 hours to make their move, and so on. Like play-by-mail games, async games give you the flexibility of playing multiple games in parallel, at your own pace, without needing to schedule things as tightly as for a live online game.[/p][p]If you happen to both be online at the same time, of course, the moves can happen much quicker, as in a live online game! The game handles both cases seamlessly, so play as slow or as fast as you like. The server will send you notification emails to let you know when it's your turn to play, unless you disable those.[/p][p]Async online games share the same ranking system as live online games, but have their own matchmaking queue. And in the same way as for live online games, you can directly send async friend match challenges, which won't count for ranking.[/p][p][/p]
Improvements
[p]—Memory optimization: The game now requires less overall RAM than before, and starts up faster.[/p][p]—A new on-screen button in most menu screens lets you respond to online requests right away, even after the notification itself disappears from the screen. (During gameplay, it's still in the pause menu rather than on-screen.)[/p][p]—The sequence of events for Troq's Giant Growth is now clearer, as the opponent gains the edge visually immediately after the openers get revealed, before the combat animations occur.[/p][p][/p]
Bug Fixes
[p]—Eight-Point Counter (Midori Z) now actually stays Ongoing while its honor stance effect is active, instead of getting immediately discarded.[/p][p]—Bare Your Soul no longer accidentally leaks information to the opponent if they look at their deck while you're moving their cards to the top or bottom of the deck.[/p][p]—Fixed the Combo Practice dummy accidentally winning against the player, when set to "always lose", if the player has Troq's Giant Growth active (which gives the edge to the dummy).[/p][p]—Fixed an annoying visual glitch where when playing with the mouse, the main phase buttons would sometimes incorrectly appear in a "mouse-overed big" scale despite not being moused over.[/p][p]—Fixed spectators incorrectly getting increased "time played with this character" in their profile for the watched player's character, after they choose the pause menu button "Stop Watching".[/p][p]—Fixed a few Alecto tweets that only make sense to trigger while at Golf Dragons, but that could still trigger while at Iron Claw Club. They're now restricted to trigger at Golf Dragons.

March 24th, 2025 Patch Notes

Yomi 2 digital update dropped last night; a new replay feature to watch a player’s last played game, some changes to online gameflow, and bug fixes. Check them out below!

March 24th, 2025 PATCH NOTES
------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW CONTENT

You can now watch the replay for any player's last online match with a given character. On the leaderboards or on the profile screen, a new button lets you "Watch latest game" for that player.

The leaderboards rows are character-specific and let you see the latest game played with that character, while the profile screen's "Watch latest game" just shows you the latest game overall. (This will only show games played starting today though.)

Improvements
—In live online games, the first rematch now always alternates who's the first player relative to the first game.

—Forfeiting a live online game now lets you rematch, instead of quitting the entire set.

Bug Fixes
—Prismatic Shield now correctly avoids the block damage effect from the Lum item Coin.

—Fixed the online score screen sometimes not correctly showing the results from the last game in a set.

—Fixed Patriot Mirror incorrectly letting Quince use Dodge the Question (Z-bottom dodge) while knocked down.

—Fixed Midori's knockdown animation not playing correctly.

—Fixed the Patriot Mirror video playing twice when it would hit the opponent, but its damage is negated by Keep Away.

—Replays no longer confusingly show timers (including their annoying sounds).

—Fixed the discard viewer being accidentally left open over the game over screen if you deal lethal damage with Loyal Pets's 6 damage on knockdown.

—The leaderboards screen UI's "Watch latest game" and "Profile" keys now work correctly and display correctly in mouse mode.

—Fixed the "Click to stop spectating" yellow box being unclickable in the friends screen.

—When you get promoted to master leagues, only the character who won the final match gets to continue that win streak. The others' win streaks are reset to 0. (Because the win streak is shared between all characters during student ranks.)

—Valerie's stat card no longer incorrectly shows a "final normal" mark next to her E.

—Career mode: Fixed "Your win record at this location" to include tournament games played there.

—Career mode: Fixed several tweets that never triggered. Mostly those that encourage you to move on to the next location after placing in a tournament.

—Career mode: Your Room no longer accidentally uses your *last* tournament placing to describe "Your best finish was #5 with Lum". It now actually describes your best placing. (Oops.)

—Career mode: Tweets from beating opponents for the first time now award slightly more fans overall. (This change does apply retroactively to your existing career.)

As always, come hang out with us on Discord to follow along with the development of all of our games. Thanks so much for being a fan!

March 4th, 2025 Patch Notes

Yomi 2 update; this time focusing mostly on fleshing out the “ranked” online queue experience; there’s now online rankings, leaderboards, player profiles, an XP system, and more.

March 4th, 2025 PATCH NOTES
------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW CONTENT

—Online rankings. In Live Play Online games, rankings are divided into Student leagues (Student 1 to Student 10), Master leagues (Bronze E to Bronze A, Silver E to Silver A, Gold E to Gold A, Diamond E to Diamond A), and the Legend league. Student leagues rank up all characters together, while Master and Legend leagues use character-specific rankings.

You gain stars for winning, gain extra stars for consecutive wins, and in the master leagues, lose a star for losing a match. Fill up the stars for your current rank to promote to the next division.

—New XP system, parallel to this ranking system, which mostly reflects your length of experience with the game - it only ever goes up. You gain +XP for every match you complete, for every match you win, for your first win of the day, and for the time spent in a match.

The ranking badge and XP circles appear in the Play Online screen (next to the quick-queue toggle), the character select screen for live online games, the pre-match versus screen, the replay rows, and the friends screen.

—New online info screen, a two-page overlay that explains how the online rankings work. It's shown when you click on the new (i) icon in top-right of the Play Online screen.

—New online post-match score screen, which shows how your ranking and XP change after each online match.

—Matchmaking now takes ranking differences into account, trying to match players within the same league first, then expanding the search to allow players of further-away leagues.

—New Leaderboards screen, where you can look up your rank among the global online rankings, filtered by league, character, or your own friends.

—New profile screen, where you can check various stats about yourself or other players. You can access your own profile from the Reference menu screen, or other players' profiles from the friends screen, the leaderboards screen, or by looking them up directly from the profile screen.

—You can now set match timers in Single Player vs CPU and Pass and Play games. The new timer setting dropdowns appear in the difficulty select screen for Single Player vs CPU, and in the Pass and Play's setup screen.

Improvements
—When playing with timers enabled, a new timer sound alerts you when you're close to running out of time.

—Updated the sounds for the career mode brackets screen.

—When you or your opponent forfeits an online game, or your opponent disconnects and you "Claim Victory", you now get a saved replay of that game.

Bug Fixes
—Fixed Quince's Patriot Mirror accidentally being too slow: from speed 6 to speed 7.

—Fixed a typo on Lum's strategy card (English):

"whenever you dodge and hit back" => "whenever you dodge and *don't* hit back"

—Fixed a French text typo for Gwen's Dreadlands Portal: "block" => "dodge"

—Fix: When Rook has the orange gem storm active and gets his normal attack hit by a faster attack, Rock Armor no longer incorrectly stops his combo. (The orange gem storm is the stronger effect, letting Rook continue the combo to other normal attacks).

—Fixed visual card mods, like green speed changes from having the edge, sometimes persisting for too long.

—Fixed the gameplay music not playing when you get an online match with the "[x] Mute menu music" option checked.
