Dev Die-ary: Controller on Default, New Run History, and Better UI!

[p]Hello everyone! 🐸[/p][p][/p][p]How are you liking Endless Mode? We've seen some truly wild runs over the past month, props to everyone conquering the ever-increasing difficulty of the loops![/p][p][/p][p]Meanwhile, we've been hard at work across several areas (some we'll save for a later post!). Here are a some of the features we can talk about today:[/p][p][/p][h2]🎮 Controller Support is almost ready to graduate from \[beta]![/h2][p][/p][p]Controller play has been cooking on the \[beta] branch for a while now. After many iterations (and thanks to your continuous feedback!) we’re putting on the final touches before moving it to the main branch. Here's some of the upcoming changes:[/p]
  • [p]A full rework of the Character Select input layout.[/p]
  • [p]More natural joystick movement on the battle board.[/p]
  • [p]Multiple fixes to the intro tutorial.[/p]
[p][/p][p]Many of you play on the Steam Deck, so we’re also working on a few Deck-specific improvements: a larger text option and using the Deck's native resolution by default. With these changes, we expect to meet the criteria for Steam Deck ✅Verified very soon![/p][p][/p][h2]📜 Run History is coming![/h2][p][/p][p]If you spotted the new (but disabled) option on the title screen last update, good eye. The Run History section is almost ready![/p][p][/p][p]In this new section, you’ll be able to review past runs, including deck, relics, score, and other stats. Here’s a WIP look at how it's looking so far:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][h2]🧼 UI Cleanup & Better Tooltips[/h2][p][/p][p]We’re making a set of much-needed combat UI tweaks so actions and values are easier to read in the heat of battle. A few examples:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Redesigning Battle UI. By grouping effects into clearer sections (actions vs. external effects), we hope to make it easier to see what's happening at a glance.[/p]

  • [p]New Title Cards for each Area. The old, text-only title cards at the beginning of each new area were a little boring, so we decided to update them with bespoke graphics for a more interesting presentation. Here's Area 1, quite an improvement![/p]

Hotfix: New Version 4.3.3 (113.0f5)

[p]Hey everyone, here's another quick hotfix with some changes to boss rewards and multiple fixes to Boost and Prism Dice visuals.[/p][p][/p][h2]Full Changelog:[/h2]
  • [p]Modified boss relic rewards so they are always at least Rare rarity.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Queen Bee’s music not stopping after the fight.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed certain relics (such as Snake Eyes and Building Blocks) bypassing the effect of the Thick Oxygen curse.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Boost Dice with the Flash property not showing boost indicators on the board.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Prism Dice incorrectly boosting Ant enemies when targeting Ant Dice.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Prism Dice displaying the wrong boost indicators when having the Boosted modifier.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed multiple typos in Spanish.[/p]

Hotfix: New Version 4.3.2 (113.0f3)

[p]Hey everyone, it seems like we introduced an issue in yesterday's hotfix: runs were impossible to finish after defeating the final boss. This should be fixed now, and any run stuck on this limbo should be able to progress. We sincerely apologize for this, and a big thanks to all the users who took the time to report the error.[/p][p] [/p][h2]Full Changelog:[/h2][p]- Fixed end screen pop-up not appearing after defeating final boss on Area 3 (white screen softlock).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Very sorry for the issue and thank you for playing! 🐸[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
