Welcome to our Box to the Beat VR major update announcement, where we will be talking about multiple changes to the game based on community feedback.

All these changes directly impact how the game will now be played and represent a massive leap that will make our project more accessible to a large number of players from our community. We will be sharing the known issues along with our solutions from a development perspective.

[h3]Camera improvements and support for content creators[/h3]
There is no built-in support for camera changes from a spectator's perspective, making the game harder to stream as the view is too narrow.

🄊 Solution:

- Introducing 5 new spectator modes, built directly into the game for your streaming pleasure.

- Wide Mode: Provides a centered camera, offering a more immersive viewing experience compared to the previously limited lens perspective.

- Ultra Wide Mode: Similar to Wide Mode, but with a higher field of view, allowing you to showcase more of the game.

- Third-Person Mode: Spectate from a dynamic third-person perspective that tracks your movement, capturing exciting shots.

- Drone Mode: The camera hovers around you in a circular motion, maintaining smooth movement tracking.

- Cinematic Mode: Experience 8 shot patterns in a cinematic fashion, showcasing various angles and perspectives for an enhanced video presentation.

To make it simple: In all third-person modes, you can see the camera movement in real-time within the game, enabling seamless interaction with your audience.

[h3]Height correction[/h3] The targets are too low or too high, and players desire the ability to set the height manually.

🄊 Solution:

- Introducing a new feature in the settings tab.
- Click the "Set Height" button to calibrate the target height to your current height.
- The targets will now consistently spawn at your desired height, eliminating the automatic height adjustment at the start of each game.
- Players can switch between automatic and manual height settings at any time for flexibility.

[h3]Gameplay speed[/h3]
Players feel that the targets are either too slow or too fast.

🄊 Solution:
- Introducing a new feature that allows you to customize the speed of the targets.
- Choose from three options: Slow, Normal, or Fast.
- Tailor the gameplay experience to your preference and skill level.
- As you progress and improve, challenge yourself by increasing the speed for an extra thrill.



[h3]Golden Note clarity[/h3]
The golden note felt ambiguous and did not specify which hand was needed to punch it.

🄊 Solution
- Introducing the concept of the golden bar.
- Certain sections in the song now feature special double point notes, known as golden bars.
- These notes are clearly marked with an X2 symbol on top, ensuring clear visibility and indicating their punch color.
- Enjoy the enhanced gameplay experience and aim for those valuable double points!

[h3]Changes for the best vision[/h3]
The position of punches is too close to the center, causing a vision blockage and preventing players from seeing the next note.

🄊 Solution:
- After careful analysis of the players' vision grid, we have made adjustments to the location and rotation of all notes.
- Uppercuts are now positioned lower, hooks are placed more to the side, and jabs no longer block each other.
- To further enhance visibility, we have added a small animation to the targets when they spawn.
- These changes ensure that you can see the notes coming even in situations where your vision is filled with punches.



[h3]Graphical options[/h3]
Some players experienced low frames per second, while others felt that their computers could handle more graphical input.

- Introducing three quality options for you to choose from: Low, High, and Ultra.
- Each option is carefully designed with a curated array of graphical settings.
- Enjoy a smooth and optimized experience regardless of your computer's specifications.
- Find the perfect balance between performance and visual fidelity to suit your rig.

We value your feedback as we strive to provide the best gaming experience possible. Select the quality setting that suits your system, and enjoy your rhythmic adventure!



[h3]The management of flow and synchronization[/h3] The beats felt off-sync with the song, and the rhythm lacked flow.

🄊 Solution:

- We scrapped the old beat system and started from scratch.
- Implemented a more complex system that analyzes the songs and generates precise timing.
- Utilized an industry-standard map editor to manually fill in the timing, ensuring every punch lands exactly on the beat.
- With this approach, we have the ability to edit the maps until they are perfect.

[h3]Name automation[/h3]
When playing the game on Steam, players have to add their names through the virtual keyboard.

🄊 Solution:

- After a few changes from the development side, the game will automatically fetch the usernames from Steam players.

Welcome to the second edition of "Behind the Ring", a series that emphasizes official developer logs, such as upcoming news, plans, and exclusive footage for the game Box to the Beat VR!

Today, it's time to showcase our upcoming DLC, Shadow Dreams, and dive more into the history behind this new and exhilarating creation, where the rhythm transitions to a heavy metal dimension.





The history of Shadow Dreams

Khosouf Studio's all-time love for music and audio engineering has evolved into a vast, accessible space for one of the world's biggest industries: gaming. From the beautiful landscapes of Abu Dhabi, UAE, where the studio resides, to pushing their rhythm idea internationally. That idea is Box to the Beat VR.

But it doesn't stop there!

As a studio with a deep love for music, to us, there is simply no better way to kick our first DLC off with something that is extremely close to our hearts; Shadow Dreams' history dates back to 2015, brought to life through an original album created by the CEO/Director of Khosouf, Ahmad.

Apart from the exhilarating levels everyone will experience upon the game's launch; players will have the opportunity to listen to a range of heavy metal tracks in our upcoming DLC, Shadow Dreams! Check out the ninth song in the Shadow Dreams playlist below:

We compiled much information for a full FAQ structure through the ambitious development phases!

Joining today is none other than the rhythmic magician himself, Ahmad Al-Natseh:

🄊 Q: What pushed the team into creating Shadow Dreams? Was it just your idea, or did everybody else contribute?
Ahmad: The creation of Shadow Dreams was initially a one-man band endeavor that inspired the formation of Khosouf Studio. It started as a personal project driven by my passion for music and audio engineering.

🄊 Q: What was the main inspiration for the choice of music in this DLC?
Ahmad: The main inspiration for the music in Shadow Dreams stemmed from the turbulent times during the war in neighboring Syria in 2012. The album reflects the darkness and instability that resonated from that period.

🄊 Q: What will players expect in terms of intensity for the DLC?
Ahmad: Players can expect a unique and intense experience. The DLC features heavy metal music with complex rhythms, odd-time signatures, and powerful distorted guitars. Prepare to sweat as the song durations range from 4 to 9.5 minutes.

🄊 Q: Are there any other DLCs planned around the same time as the Shadow Dreams launch?
Ahmad: Yes, we have a lineup of artists signed up for future DLCs in the game. Shadow Dreams is just the beginning of our support for talented artists who will bring their unique styles to our game.

🄊 Q: What other genres are you thinking of adding as exclusive DLCs?
Ahmad: Our plan is to explore a wide range of genres in the upcoming DLC patches. From metal to electronic, hip hop to rap, we aim to provide players with diverse and exciting music experiences.

🄊 Q: What artists would you like to work with in the future?
Ahmad: While it may seem ambitious, our dream collaborations would include iconic bands like Metallica or progressive rock legends Dream Theater. Collaborating with such artists would elevate the complexity and intensity of Box to the Beat VR.

🄊 Q: Share what pushed you into creating Box to the Beat VR and joining the rhythm genre with it.
Ahmad: Creating purposeful games is the vision behind Khosouf Studio. By combining physical movement that improves players' lifestyles with virtual reality gaming, we aim to fill a significant gap in the market. Box to the Beat VR offers a high-quality product that merges rhythm-based fun with intense physical actions, aiming to enrich players' experiences with your support while supporting upcoming artists by giving them the spotlight!
