Introducing Deceit 2 Demo Mode!

Alongside the updates and fixes today, we have been listening to feedback from our friends in the community who want to invite their friends to play Deceit 2. We are excited to announce that Deceit 2 will have a playable (and experimental!) demo, starting today!
Dip Your Toes into the Shadows: Introducing Deceit 2's Demo Mode!
Curious about the treacherous corridors and heart-pounding moments in Deceit 2? We're excited to announce the release of our demo mode on Steam, allowing players to get a taste of the deception, risk, and strategy that lie within our game - all for free.

If you're keen to try out matchmaking, you'll need an invitation from someone who owns the full version of the game.

There are a few limitations in the demo to keep in mind:

 • Matchmaking: Demo users cannot make a public party - they must join a party hosted by a non-demo player. Party hosts must share their party ID with demo users for them to join, or invite them using a Steam Invite/from their Steam Friends List.
 • Shop Limitations: Demo users won't be able to purchase items, mutations, Shillings, or cosmetics.
 • Accolades: As we prepare for the introduction of Accolades, it's worth noting that progression in this area is exclusive to the full game.

The demo provides both newcomers and those familiar with Deceit 2 an opportunity to see the latest updates and improvements we've made. If you enjoy the demo and want to dive deeper, the full game is waiting for you.

Ready to give it a try? We hope you enjoy the experience, and as always, we appreciate your feedback.

Day 7 - Updates & Accolades
An update on our launch
Before diving into exciting updates about our upcoming feature, we'd like to pause and reflect on our launch. Admittedly, it wasn't without its hurdles, and looking back, there are aspects we'd approach differently. However, we're heartened by the constructive feedback and positive reception from our dedicated players.

We are continuing to actively address the technical challenges from the launch, and we're rolling out another patch very shortly to further enhance your experience. We genuinely appreciate the patience and support of our early adopters.

Recognising the initial hiccups, we will be giving 600 in-game coins to everyone who owns the game and those who purchase it in the upcoming weeks as a token of our gratitude. Thank you.

And now, onto the main event!
Ready for the ultimate test in Deceit 2?
In the world of Deceit 2, where trust is a rare commodity and every decision matters, a new way to prove your prowess is coming: the Accolades. Each Accolade has various stages, with the journey you undertake designed to test your mettle and strategy.

Embark on this path, and you'll face a gauntlet of challenges. Every conquered Accolade ratchets up the difficulty, demanding players constantly adapt and sharpen their wits. For those who rise to the occasion and master these challenges, a spot on the leaderboard awaits, a testament to their prowess in this world of deception.

The progression through Accolades is punctuated by distinct milestones. Starting with the Wood rank, players earn points and move through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond until they reach the pinnacle: Master. At this stage, they're not just participants; they're standout players who've mastered key aspects of the game.

Every point earned, every challenge overcome, is the game's nod to your growing expertise. Whether you're a newcomer finding your footing or a seasoned player, there's a rank to signify your mastery, from Wood to the illustrious Master.

Accolades span various categories, delving into every facet of the game: Roles, Items, Terrors, Humans, and Maps. With each Accolade, players can track their progress, strategize their next move, and set their sights on the coveted top spots of the leaderboards.

And what's a challenge without rewards? We recognize the allure of flaunting one's achievements. Players can earn Plinths, markers of their journey from Wood to Master. For the truly exceptional, the rare and coveted Gold Skins beckon, a prize for those who scale the highest peaks of their Accolade journey.

With the Accolades becoming part of Deceit 2, players will have a fresh battleground to showcase their skills, devise strategies, and ascend the ranks.

Accolades are undergoing some final testing and we hope to have them out this time next week. So, are you prepared to embrace this challenge? The Game Master is watching, eager to see how you fare…

That’s all for this Thursday’s update! Did we leave you howling with excitement for more Deceit 2 updates? Next week, we'll be shedding some light on our werewolf-themed second map. Stay tuned for more details!

Day 4 Patch - Optimisations

We're touched by the support, enthusiasm and constructive suggestions shown since Deceit 2's launch last Thursday. September 14th is a date we won't soon forget.

This past weekend was a whirlwind of activity. We witnessed masterful deceptions, clever deductions, and some intense gameplay moments, all in the name of the Game Master. Alongside these highlights, we've been diligently addressing the technical challenges some players have faced. Rest assured, we're deploying updates to enhance optimisation, performance, and connection experiences.

With today’s patch we're releasing an update aimed at improving Deceit 2's performance & connectivity across all devices. Our goal remains clear: swift connections, quick game loads, and a seamless round of deception for everyone. We will also be sharing more details on our next round of content updates very soon.

Your feedback is invaluable, and we massively appreciate any encouraging reviews and comments as the team works day and night through launch month. We're actively gathering insights, identifying issues, and refining the game's overall experience.

Thank you for your patience, steadfast support, and engaging gameplay. We look forward to seeing you in the Asylum!
PATCH NOTES
• Players can no longer teleport with the Return Pad whilst holding the Escape Key.
 • Once the Escape Key has been claimed there are now only 2 minutes for the Innocents to escape the Ritual. If they fail to do so within that time limit then the Infected will automatically win.

 • Updated localisation for German, French, Italian, Thai, Korean, Russian, and Portuguese (Brazilian).
 • New audio added to the pistol's first-time equip animation.

 • The key waypoint image has been updated
 • The description for the Adrenaline has been updated to include avoiding Sanity loss
 • The curtain mesh in the Morgue has been replaced
 • Deduced and addressed a critical issue causing players to fail to connect to the game server, causing a significant percentage of games to fail to start. Yes, we know…
 • [FIXED] Players can hide by the generator, and avoid the terror altogether. Nice try, folks!
 • [FIXED] It is possible to navigate to unintended areas of the map in multiple locations.
 • [FIXED] First person animations don’t show properly on wide screen monitors. This causes issues with seeing items such as the Inspection Pin.
 • [FIXED] Throwables (grenades, flare) unintentionally show 2 being thrown at the same time.
 • [FIXED] The report button can fail to show on the game summary screen.
 • [FIXED] Priya’s hair can occasionally appear glitched.

Release Update: Day 2

We appreciate the dedication of those who have ventured into the Millhaven Asylum and the world of the Game Master. Your feedback has been invaluable. While we're encouraged by the positive responses, we're also acutely aware of the areas that require our attention.

Several technical issues have been reported, and we've been rigorously addressing them. A large number have been resolved, and our team remains committed to rectifying the remaining concerns, irrespective of the day of the week.

We will be pushing out a major patch today, aimed at addressing many of these issues. Patch notes are available below, and we will continue to share these as we release fixes.

We've identified an issue with the post-game allocation of Favour after some games. We're working diligently to ensure that this is fixed today. Once this is rectified, all players will be compensated with 1,000 Favour and an additional 100 shillings as a gesture of our commitment to a seamless gaming experience.

Next week we will be sharing a lot more detail on the Deceit 2 roadmap that we shared this week, including a first look at our next map, and upcoming roles, events and outfits. We’re excited to share this with you.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Deceit 2 is here!

Today is the day! Deceit 2 is now available on Steam. We are incredibly excited to finally be sharing the game with you.

If that’s not enough though, we have a couple of other updates we wanted to share with you.
October Roadmap
The first is our post-launch roadmap for September and October. There’ll be a lot more information coming soon, but this should give you a taste of what’s to come:
Arrival Outfits
As the Truth Seekers Anonymous step into the foreboding halls of Millhaven Asylum, they're not adorned in attire fit for a dark sacrifice – no gothic garb or pentagram pendants here. Instead, their Arrival Outfits whisper tales of the once ordinary lives they led. So lean in close, for we have a chilling tale to share as night falls…
Alex
Charming and meticulous, Alex possesses a knack for making those around him feel at ease. Whether he's coaxing information from club bouncers about the whereabouts of GQ's Man of the Year or playfully engaging with a budding influencer eager to spill secrets about her TikTok competitors, Alex is the master of the game. His 'Scruffy Smart' attire strikes the perfect balance for mingling and gathering intel, though it might not be the best choice for darker deeds of deception and betrayal.
Chang
Chang doesn't rely on lavish attire to command respect. A mere twitch of his lip or the subtle clenching of his fist sends shivers down spines. Cloaked in an all-black ensemble, his ever-present sunglasses — a signature even at night — epitomise the essence of Urban Life. But as he steps into the labyrinthine corridors of Millhaven Asylum, one wonders: can this streetwise enigma navigate the shadows and secrets of such a haunting place?
Lisa
Lisa has little patience for the foolish. Her tenure in the Metropolitan police force has shown her the underbelly of society, where deception often goes unchecked. It's this disdain for injustice that drives her to the Truth Seekers Anonymous forum. Her chosen attire for the rendezvous speaks volumes: pragmatic cargo pants paired with rugged boots/trainers, painting the portrait of the unyielding force of justice she embodies.
Rachel
As a Senior Account Executive, Rachel's attire mirrors her professional stature. Her days are a whirlwind of client meetings, but as night falls, she delves into the shadowy mysteries discussed in the forum. Keen on keeping her everyday life a secret from fellow Truth Seekers, Rachel's choice of Activewear – sleek leggings paired with a snug sweater – is both discrete and deliberate.
Hans
Enigmatic and reserved, Hans is a man shrouded in mystery. Few can claim to truly know him, as he guards his past with a quiet intensity. Yet, when he steps into the Millhaven Asylum gathering alongside fellow Truth Seekers, his attire speaks volumes. The Flight Suit he dons is not just practical and snug; it subtly suggests a life experienced at altitudes others can only dream of.
Nina
Hailing from Japan, Nina's vibrant hues and playful cat ears are a testament to her origins. She's an open book, wearing her emotions openly, a trait that initially drew her to the sanctuary of the Truth Seekers Anonymous forum. Yet, amidst the haunting backdrop of Millhaven Asylum, her endearing Kawaii-inspired ensemble stands in stark, jarring contrast to the surrounding dread.
Priya
After an exhausting day at work, Priya arrived at Millhaven Asylum still in her professional attire. Meeting this eclectic group of strangers, she stands out in her polished trousers and elegant scarf. This ensemble, perfect for instilling confidence in her pharmacy patients, assures them of her expertise. It's the attire of someone who meticulously ensures their well-being, safeguarding them from the financial burdens of life-saving medications.
Jak
Jak, with his sharp wit and captivating smile, has always been a force to be reckoned with. His undeniable charm has won over many, not just the ladies, and he's never been one to shy away from using that to his advantage. His attire? A perfect reflection of his penchant for luxury and allure. As he strides into the Truth Seekers' gathering, his 'Sleekly Debonair' ensemble radiates an unmatched confidence. But even such bravado might waver in the face of the chilling depths of Millhaven Asylum.
Beck
Beck is a master of their craft, ensuring art "restorations" are nothing short of perfection. Immersed in the world of galleries and high-end auctions, they've cultivated an image that mirrors the elite circles they navigate. Donning designer suits and opulent watches, Beck's Formalwear ensemble is a masterpiece of its own. Yet, within the haunting confines of Millhaven Asylum, they'll need to channel a different kind of creativity to navigate the shadows and emerge unscathed.
Legacy Skins
A nod to our dedicated "Deceit 1" players, we're honouring your commitment with exclusive rewards. Six distinct groups have been crafted, each with its own criteria. Players only need to meet one of the requirements of the group to qualify. The number of groups you complete will determine how many Legacy Skins you can claim in "Deceit 2". And here's the cherry on top: these skins were handpicked based on community votes!
Masquerade Skins
Remember those iconic outfits from our grand "Deceit 1" event in the summer of 2022? For those who earned these legendary skins, they'll seamlessly transition into "Deceit 2". A little piece of history to carry forward.
Plinths
Introducing a fresh feature to elevate your game! In the lobbies, characters will now proudly stand on customisable plinths. And for our "Deceit 1" veterans, we haven't forgotten our promise. All those emblems you cherished? They're being transformed into unique plinths in "Deceit 2".

We’ve covered a lot in this post, but, obviously the most important news is that the game is out, and ready for you to play! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do, and look forward to working alongside you all as we continue to turn Deceit 2 into the best social deception game of all time!
