The Squire in a Nutshell

The Squire is Ragtag Heroes' most beginner-friendly character and possibly the most versatile hero of the group.

Though he lacks long-range options and is more on the slow side of things, he has a lot of Health as well as proficient defensive and offensive close-combat abilities thanks to his sword and his trusty Shield.

Starter Relic

Wooden Shield: The Squire’s Wooden Shield accompanies him into battle. It grants him 3 Shield from the start, making sure he remains protected as he awaits his first turn.
As the son of a weaponsmith with the wish of one day becoming a knight, he crafted it himself and it, along with his sword is his whole pride. It will always remind him where he came from, as well as where he’s headed and that he still has a long way to go.

Starting Deck

The Squire starts off with 4 different cards.

Strike: Your go-to offensive move. Does okay damage and lowers the enemy's initiative by 1. Lower it to zero to stun the opponent.
Block: The Squire (and ONLY the Squire) receives 5 Shield.
Defend: A hero of your choice receives 4 Shield.
Tiger Leap: To reach opponents from further away, the Squire can play Tiger Leap to switch lanes and attack simultaneously.

The Squire’s techniques involve defense over himself as well as his fellow heroes as well as close-ranged offense.

Strategy

Though his hand size and energy may be lacking and on-par with the Scoundrel, but he makes up for this with the sheer power of his attacks as well as the variety in different playstyles.
Even when you have to go brave to finish a combo, chances are there will be no one left afterwards to punish you for it.
As the close-combat specialist of the bunch, the Squire has multiple approaches as to how to deal with enemies.
For example, you can build up Strength and combine it with attacks that multiply its effects:

Whereas another trick you can do with the Squire involves building Shield and dealing as much damage AS he has Shield:

Another great tool the Squire has up his sleeves are his “fatal” attacks: If he defeats an opponent with attacks like “Fatal Power” or “Fatal Healing”, something good will happen.

The good thing is that you don’t have to decide between any of these possibilities: you can pick up any card you, since you never know what you will draw.
That said, the Squire may be the most versatile hero in the entire game.

The Scoundrel in a nutshell

The Scoundrel is one of Ragtag Heroes' bread-and-butter characters.
With an initiative of 10, she's one of the fastest characters in the game, able to attack before most monsters and heroes.

Starter Relic
Wooden Bow: Her starting relic is her trusted “Wooden bow” - She received it from her father, an Erzmeister from the North. Serving as a painful reminder of the day she lost him, she promised to become the fastest archer in the world. The bow grants her one extra action in her first round, marking her first fire the fiercest one on the battlefield.

Starting Deck

The Scoundrel starts off with 3 different cards.

Quick Shot: The most damaging card of the three, but you should look for stronger alternatives. It lowers the enemy's initiative by 1. Lower it to zero to stun him.
Sweep: One of the Scoundrel's few melee attacks: it leaves the enemy vulnerable, he'll take 50% more damage from non-magical attacks. If you find this card on your deck and your enemy is in melee range, play it first.
Disarm: A shot that weakens the targeted opponent: Damage caused by their non-magical attacks will be reduced by half.

Strategy

Though she lacks defensive and movement options and her Max-HP is not the highest, she makes up for that with her pure flexibility in cards.
With a default maximum energy of 3, she has the ability to create long combos of low-energy attacks and skills.
Not only that, she also has various tricks up her sleeve: Many of her attacks/skills enable the Scoundrel to change her hand at will: Discard undesired cards, draw new or additional cards with cards like “Gloves off” or “Trade up”.

The kicker is, that this aspect of the Scoundrel's abilities can be weaponised itself – with cards like “Cover Fire”, “Tool Belt” or “Barricade”.

Couple that with the Scoundrel's many abilities to re-gain energy, it is not uncommon to achieve insane combos like this one:
