[Dev Notes] Part-8: GTT Feedback - Chapter 3. Firearms System Improvement

Hello, everyone. I am Kwon Dae Ho, the executive producer of Black Stigma.

Since we already introduced ‘shooting balancing’ last time, now it’s a time to continue with sharing about the direction on how we will organize the firearms system.

In the Global Testing Tour held during fall of last year, there were many concerns and requests for improvements regarding the firearms system. Therefore, will we explain what the problem was and what kind of system we will have in place to deal with it.

The problems with the firearms themselves which some of you pointed out during the Global Testing Tour were as follows.

ⅰ. The hierarchy of firearms exists, and the utility varies depending on the class.


  • In other words, shooting efficiency is not a matter of individual shooting skills. There is a possibility that it may be determined by factors other than skills such as paying money.
ⅱ. It seems like handguns are mainly used in this worldview, but the diversity of firearms is low.


  • Compared to other shooting games that from pistols to large heavy weapons are appeared, the difference in the usage mechanism or presentation of each gun is not significant.

To sum up, we have heard the opinions saying that the whole firearms settings should have some degree of fairness along with distinctive individuality which should be more clearly apparent.

Our idea of worldview which pistols are the main firearm will not be changed, but we will try to produce a clearer difference in individuality. To achieve that, we’ve decided to (1) establish a firearms customization system and (2) introduce more diverse types of weapons.

[color]1) Way to customize firearms[/color]

As you know, firearms modification (customization) is a culture widely seen among gun enthusiasts. That is what we would like to introduce in black stigma as well.

The gun customization system is being developed in two ways:

    A. You can improve your gun’s abilities or decorate it through firearms customization.

    Each customizing accessory has its own unique appearance to be attached to firearms.
    Also, some accessories can change specific capabilities of a gun depending on the type.
    In contrast, there are also types of accessories that simply build up a gun's embellishment without changing its capabilities.

    B. Sacrificing control power to receive gun abilities effects in return.

    Depending on customization, some of the gun's abilities may be improved. However, for this to happen, the character using the gun must have more control power.
    Therefore, players must secure maximum control power and research the customizing combination that best suits them under the limitation.
▲ A laser sight with more bullets in a magazine which is easier to aim is applied, but the character's control power is insufficient, so the accuracy drops.

★ In general, if the character's control power level doesn’t meet the gun's requirement, it will be not allowed to equip. But now we are considering about a rule that would allow it to be equipped despite a penalty level that would make normal use impossible.



[color]2) Introduction to the modified components of firearms[/color]

The components of a firearm are divided into the following parts:


    A. Basic Attachments (Main Parts)



    • In order to use this type of firearm, these attachments must be surely designated.

    • It is divided into frame, slide, and magazine.

    - Depending on the gun model, there may be parts that do not exist.
    ex. Slide doesn’t exist in Revolver style.

    • The basic attachments have various appearances/colors as well as differences in gun performance.

    - Frame: You can change the firing method, such as burst/repeating/bust shot, etc.
    - Slide: (No functional changes are planned for arrangement)
    - Magazine: Slightly increases magazine capacity. (The number of additional bullets is approximately 10%)


    B. Attachments



    • Although this is not a mandatory part of a gun, it can upgrade a gun's abilities when being attached.

    • It is divided into muzzle attachments and optical equipment.

    - Only one muzzle attachment is allowed to be attached to one gun model. Optical equipment is allowed to be attacthed to a gun multiply if the attachment positions are different.

    • Muzzle attachments improve gun recoil or aiming accuracy. Optical equipment provides great convenience in aimed shooting. (Actual impact point shown)


    C. Decoration Accessories

    • This is an element that can decorate the appearance of a gun but does not directly increase the performance of the gun.

    • It is divided into charms and stickers.

    - Two or more charms and stickers can be mixed and applied to one gun model.

    • Some charm items slightly increase the user's control power.

[color]3) Introduction of warhead replacement function[/color]

Another improvement is that you can now is that choose from a variety of warheads to equip.

Each warhead has two major values: (1) armor destruction ability and (2) bare body killing ability. This system was also present in the previous test version, but each gun had a fixed warhead.

This time, you will need to find out how to choose a warhead based on your opponent's character or tactics. If a character with thick armor often plays in the enemy camp, a warhead that is good at destroying armor or penetrating armor will be advantageous. Otherwise, you should choose a warhead that can inflict more damage to the bare body.




[color]4) Added pistols and skills to provide unique shooting styles[/color]

While maintaining the rule of using only handguns, various gun concepts commonly found in other shooting games are also applied to Black Stigma.

There are three main types of new concept guns that have been implemented up until this moment.

  • Magnum Revolver: Uses high-power bullets to inflict devastating damage at one point.


  • Large-diameter double barrel: Demonstrates lethal power in close combat using shotgun shells


  • High-capacity target pistol: Easy control and large-capacity ammunition magazine provides the fun of continuous shooting


Additionally, new mechanical skills are developed to provide the feeling of ‘long-range sniping’.

  • A new character who uses archery is now being prepared, and the character will be able to use long-range sniping skills by shooting a bow.
  • In addition, as a hero shooting genre, we plan to amplifly the enjoyment of shooting by diversifying more skills.
▲ Like"Hawkeye", a character from Marvel who has a general shooting/carpet ability, but he also has the most outstanding skill with a setting of archery.

While maintaining the worldview of a secret dark killer in society, it won't let you miss out any joy you've ever experienced before in the other shooter games. As a result, Black Stigma will try to provide a variety of shooting experiences in different angles.

The firearms system reformation which I’ve mentioned above will be ready right away, so see you in the next test service.

[Season.2] Person Information - Hardworker Crush

[Character Introduction]
  • Codename: Hardworker Crush (‘Crush’) (Affiliation: A.B. HARDWORKERS)
  • Role within the organization: A weapons maker/manager of the A.B. Organization
  • Real name: lǐ wèi (李伟) [Great]

Someone Gray Hand brought into the organization at some point and told them that she is a friend. No one really knows much about Hardworker Crush's past. She's a mysterious character, but because she tries so hard to live her life to the fullest, those around her don't ask much about her past.

She fled to Europe to escape the riots in her hometown and was brought to A.S. to study firearms. She was given the task of building various firearms from their drawings in Parabellum's workshop. She later followed Hand to A.B., where she is now responsible for both the design and production of weapons in a more free atmosphere.

- Striker
  • Possessing both fine marksmanship and ruthless striking combat abilities, she is often seen charging into the field with a team of tough male operatives.
  • Her weapons include a large pipe wrench and a demolition axe, and she wears body armor and a motorcycle helmet to show off her skills in hand-to-hand combat.

  • Age: 27
  • Height: 176cm
  • Weight: 67kg (Up to 93kg, with combat gear)
  • Physique: Tall and lean, with a muscular build built from rough activities.

  • She treats people with a breezy personality, which is reflected in her habit of laughing out loud. Her habit of laughing brightly and loudly, maybe often too much, makes people around her like her.
  • 'Wei' means 'Great'. It is a fitting name for Crush, who loves change. Her mother gave her the name when she was growing up in China.
  • She spends her days working on construction sites and her nights crafting weapons for her team members. Her daily routine of manual labor made her physically stronger than most men.
  • Along with Gray Hand, she is in charge of making equipment within the A.B. organization.


[Personality]
  • She likes to get carried away in discussions about trivial things. She prefers conversations with straightforward answers to complicated ones.
  • She has a strong dislike of frustration and finds unnecessary arguments with others annoying. Likes to be honest, no matter what the topic.


[Relationships]
  • Likes Zero's unorthodox fighting style.
  • Has some past ties with Ms. Twin but no one else in the organization knows the full story between them.
  • She is close to Gray Hand, who has similar interests to her own. They debate daily about whose ideas and inventions are better and often end up fighting over it.


[Physical Attributes]
  • Her black hair and single-eyelid eyes seem to confirm the story that she came from China.
  • Due to her long years of working in construction, she has bronze-colored skin from prolonged exposure to sunlight.
  • In battle, she wears clothes with various bizarre and strange mechanical gadgets attached to them. Some of her gadgets are of her own design, while others she has stolen from Hand's workbench.

  • Tuned Motorcycle
    - The means of transportation that reflects her fiery personality, it has all sorts of modifications to make it roar and produce more power.
    - It's usually on display at the A.B. organization's compound, and she takes great pride in her bike.


[Habits]
  • She has a habit of observing the smallest details.
    - Depending on the flow of her thoughts, even a rock on the side of the road can become the object of her attention. Anything that catches her eye, she scrutinizes, touches, and even tries to break it to see a cross-section.


[Hobbies]
  • Picking up scrap metal lying around the construction site, tinkering and experimenting
  • Building and discussing gear with Gray Hand
  • Modifying and driving the bike
    - She has a large bike that she just picked up new, and it's been a while since she's brought it back to the base for modifications. Other members of the organization often use it for last-minute needs when she's not around, and it's almost become a communal bike.

[Season.2] Person Information - Hardworker Grasper

[Character Introduction]
  • Codename: Hardworker Grasper (‘Grasper’) (Affiliation: A.B. HARDWORKERS)
  • Role within the organization: A spy and guide for the A.B. organization
  • Real name: Adonis [ Young Hunter ]

Brought into the A.B. organization by Hardworker Zero, he is a muscular young man with an agile body. After signing a secret contract with Zero, he became his shadow, taking care of many of the annoying things that happen around him. He usually recruits new talent or escorts VIPs from outside the organization to secret locations underground.

Having grown up in an orphanage he was severely bullied during his childhood, but his first love in his adolescence saved his life. He learned to control his own emotions and began playing football in Ireland, but his days on the field were cut short when he was seriously injured in an attack by thugs.

Zero appeared in front of him when his heart was broken again, and offered him to 'give up the old life, and live a new life as a member of the A.B. organization,' and Grasper followed him to join the A.B., leaving his whole life, his first love behind.

- Infiltrator
  • His experience as a football player in Ireland shows up in his missions, he prefers to quickly get into close-up melee battles or hit-and-run tactics.
  • He has had no formal combat training, such as marksmanship or martial arts, but that doesn't seem to matter to him as he works his muscles every day.

  • Age: 28
  • Height: 173cm
  • Weight: 70kg
  • Physique: A good-looking young man with a lean, muscular, athletic build
  • Sport: Gaelic (Irish) football
  • Rival: None, He does not think to be competing against anyone

  • Likes: Collecting/maintaining tracksuits, looking at Zero gear
  • Dislikes: Child abuse, cowardice


[Character Attributes]

"I'm your guide into the underground. Come with me, there's no turning back."
  • With looks reminiscent of a handsome boy from Greek mythology and a gentle smile that masks his true feelings, Grasper is a man who keeps his true intentions a secret.
  • The name ‘Grasper’ was given to him by Zero, when he was questioning his true identity after leaving the orphanage. It's a name that fits his role at A.B. as a talent recruiter and VIP concierge.
  • A former Gaelic (Irish) soccer player, he now works as a miner. He is the most knowledgeable person about the underground passageways that lead to A.B.'s bases.
  • He loves to listen to music. Even when he works out, he doesn't forget to pack a wireless headset to listen to music.
  • He tries to be polite, always using respectful words to strangers. However, you never know what he's really thinking. Sometimes, when he's angry, vulgar words may come out of his mouth.


[Personality]
  • While he generally gets along well with people, even those in his own organization have no idea what he's really thinking.
  • His inner thoughts are completely different from what he shows on the outside, he has more than one characteristic, and is used to putting on an act to deceive others.
  • In his childhood, he was bullied in an orphanage, which left him with a delicate and helpless personality. However, thanks to the advice of his first love, he has been wearing his own "personality mask" since adolescence.


[Relationships]
  • He envies Gray Paper, who knows a lot of knowledge and information and uses it freely.
  • His first love, who influenced him a lot during his orphanage days when his personality started to become skewed, resembles Ms. Nano, which is why he is reluctant to face her.
  • He has a complicated relationship with Hardworker Zero, and he has mixed feelings about Zero.
    - One of them is that he wants to leave Zero and the organization and go back to his life before he was a member. Although things didn't work out as he had hoped, he still had a life in his late teens where he made memories with his first love and strived for a bright future.
    - On the other side, he also wants to follow Zero's wish to forget about his past with his first love and focus on his current life as a member of the A.B. organization.
  • Grasper and Zero have different ideas about each other.
    - Grasper -> Zero: An absolute supporter, a father figure. He is grateful for the social recognition he received from Zero at a time when his future as a soccer player was destroyed. However, he also resents Zero for isolating him from the "outside world," including his first love.
    - Zero -> Grasper: Zero sees Grasper as merely a tool for the organization's success. Zero has taken advantage of Grasper's physical and emotional wounds to use him as a puppet. However, there are times when he thinks of Grasper as an abandoned animal and shows signs of weakness.

  • He has the typical Celtic, Irish appearance, with red hair and freckles.
  • He has a not-so-large frame and is well-developed, with toned muscles all over his body.
  • He looks the youngest of all A.B.'s main members.
  • He is rarely seen in formal attire and has a relaxed fashion style. He rarely wears anything but training shorts, especially when he needs to use his physique.

    - It's one of his ways of keeping his mind off the sounds outside.
  • The half-covered mask
    - Hints at his duality, as he is not the same on the outside as he is on the inside.

[Character Introduction]
  • Codename: Hardworker Zero (‘Zero’) (Affiliation: A.B. HARDWORKERS)
  • Role within the organization: Second in command of the A.B. organization
  • Real name: Виктор (Viktor) [ victor ]

A man in his late fifties, he has been with the HARDWORKERS the longest. He was originally a Master in A.S. for nearly 30 years, but under a secret pact with the second head of A.S. and mentor Mr. Anyone(Anyone), he joins the rest of the HARDWORKERS members in a new group the A.B..

He has led the core of A.S. the HARDWORKERS into Mr.Anyone's arms from the beginning at the A.S. to A.B.. Naturally, the A.S. leadership views Anyone and Zero as an eyesore, as they were directly responsible for the departure of the HARDWORKERS.

But for some reason, Zero himself has declared that he will not be involved in any disputes with the A.S.. As a result, despite several anti-A.S. missions in A.B., Zero has been absent from the scene.


[Position]

- Marksman
  • Decades he spent as a killer has given Zero outstanding marksmanship skills. His experience with countless firearms and his sturdy muscles allow him to fire even the most powerful pistols with the largest bullets without flinching.
  • In addition to marksmanship, he is also skilled in close-range combat with his special railgun that has been modified into a weapon. Enemies who manage to get past Zero's bullets are met with hits from his gauntlet-like reinforced railgun and dozens of nails from his railgun.

  • Despite his large size, he loves to grow cacti. He once thought about running a flower shop with his grown daughter, but it was an unrealistic fantasy.
  • Perhaps because his real name is "Viktor," which means victor, he has always valued winning and success as the most important thing in life. This has made his life as a psychopathic hitman, devoid of morality and humanity, easy for him.
  • He uses dazzling techniques and skillful maneuvers and has developed a powerful arsenal of weapons that only he can wield. Some of these weapons have high recoils and are unwieldy, and Gray Hand(Hand) has spent months researching and making them.


[Personality]
  • He is an extreme realist and doesn't empathize well with others, and his focus on efficiency often leads to quick, but unethical, closure.
  • Although he is thoughtful and cautious, he firmly believes that negotiation and compromise can eventually be overcome by overwhelming violence. These values have led him to be criticized for his frequent use of violence when he was a Master of A.S.
  • While most people around him considered him to have a personality spectrum that made him addicted to violence, in reality, his behavior was merely a result of his view of all human beings as a means to an end.


[Relationships]
  • He has rescued Twin from a human trafficking ring in the past. As a result, he has maintained a friendly relationship with Twin.
  • He is a secret supporter of the Hardworker Grasper, and spends a lot of time with him. He's even given Grasper several missions himself, which makes it seem to others that the two men have a close relationship. However, Zero's view of Grasper is a mixture of family-like affection and treating him like a tool.
  • His biological daughter, Ms. Nano, resents him to no end. Not only did her father, her only blood relative, abandon her, but he also abandoned the A.S. organization she joined.
  • He is a good match for field missions with Hardworker Crush, who fights in a reckless and fierce manner.

  • A Russian man with a hard-lined face and a thick beard
  • He seems lean on the outside, but his body is covered in sturdy muscles honed by decades of construction work and assassination missions.
  • He wears an assortment of equipment that appears to be various tools but has been modified for combat.
    - He wears a durable and powerful nailgun that has been modified to fire nails like a gauntlet
    - Wears a special welding mask for protection and concealment
    - And has steel armor pieces attached to his heart and limbs to withstand bullets and knives.


[Character Object]
  • Cactus
    - This represents his menacing first impression, symbolizing the tough environment of his upbringing. It was also the first gift he received from his daughter.


[Habits]
  • He has a habit of touching his beard. He is very fond of the well-groomed beard.

  • Builds/modifies combat gear
  • Various Sporting Experiences
  • Especially enjoys ground-based martial arts like judo/jiu-jitsu sparring with Grasper
