Hello vikings!
Today’s post is about a few patches we’ve been releasing this week. We’ve been fixing the following:

• Alruna will be less painful to unlock. You will need to reach Talkôr’s chamber before the final boss with at least 1 ice heart, not defeating the boss as it used to be.
  
• Visual bug in the character selection panel, where the selected character could appear behind the others.
  
• Secret characters and their skins were showcased in black. After unlocking them, their skins will now be shown in grey, not black.
  
• After unlocking Lorcan and entering a run, the playable character would be the previous on you had selected.
  
• Halloween weapon Fear Skullcap alpha now works properly.
  
• The explanation on how to unlock the second ascension of Ancestral Relics has been improved.
  
• Small translation fixes in various languages.

We were planning to update with the Halloween event in a couple weeks but then we thought… why wait?
So let us introduce the Spooky Season to Nordic Ashes! This event will last from October 4th until November 3rd.

[h2]Haunted Realms[/h2]
In addition to last year’s spooky Midgard, this year you will also be able to play Helheim (if it wasn’t eerie enough lol). Both realms will be decorated in a spooky way and enemies will have ghostly costumes. (You will be able to see what Hel looks like beneath her mask!).

[h2]Eerie Blud[/h2]
This year’s skin will belong to Blud! Just win a run on Helheim using Blud to unlock it. And no worries, as after the event you will still be able to get it.



[h2]Themed relics[/h2]
Spooky themed relics will make an appearance again, we’ve added a new one so there will be a total of 5 relics.



Please notice that themed relics will appear more often than regular ones.
On that note, you may disable the Halloween event on the Settings panel if you prefer to play regular runs.

[h2]Fixes and improvements[/h2]

Thanks so much for reporting all the following issues! We will keep an eye on your feedback :D

• Odin's ravens now disappear when switching to the Dark phase
  
• Lorcan’s Ultimate ability could crash the game, now it’s fixed
  
• Lorcan skins had the wrong sounds
  
• Lorcan card sounds improved
  
• Lorcan’s cards could appear behind objects
  
• Lorcan's summons were not having their alpha applied
  
• Small texts fixes
  
• Ascended Brok's Bazooka manual aiming was not working properly
  
• The discord button could be changed to the enter button, which could cause it to continually open.

At last, the day has come… new character is joining ranks!


Let’s welcome Lorcan, master of Luck! Lorcan the Conqueror, Lorcan founder of Lorcanism, Lorcan master of Dice… well, he may be a BIT narcissist. Just a tiny bit.
However, he won't show up until you reach Vanaheim.


*** SPOILER ALERT ***
If you didn't guess how to unlock Lorcan here is the answer:
He's quite fond of himself and loves it when people look up to him. Select Lorcan in the character selection panel and wait for 25 seconds to unlock him.
[h2]Luck[/h2]
Lorcan’s will be introducing Luck to Nordic Ashes.

Luck will determine if abilities based on % can have an extra roll. For example, if an effect would occur with 15% chance and it doesn't, with 1 Luck point you will gain an extra roll of 15% chance and therefore that effect will be more likely to occur.

Obviously, Lorcan will be Luck boosted so probabilities happen more often.
Relics affected by luck will have a clover icon next to them.

And of course, don't forget to check Lorcan's skins too!



[h2]New Relic: Lucky Clover[/h2]
This Lucky Clover will be your best friend when related to luck. You may unlock this relic thanks to Lorcan.

[h2]New Artifact: Lucky Coin[/h2]
When used, you will get 1 extra Luck Point temporarily.




10 new kinds of challenges have been added. You will find new Blessings that will boost your runs.
We've also imporoved some of the existing challenges so they are more fun.





We know many of you had some leaves left that wouldn't fit anywhere. With the addition of Lorcan, more leaves will be generated. To solve this issue, we've added a few new levels to existing perks such as crit. damage, movement speed, etc. A total of 120 new leaves to add to Yggdrasil!

• Some curses would make you inflict negative damage and this could break the game. Minimum damage you will now inflict is 1.
  
• The Burden of Greed Curse will now reduce damage by 2.5% for each relic you own instead of 5%
  
• Some shrines could appear on top of you.
  
• Stats appearing on the left side of the screen have been reordered so they fit better on screen.
  
• Odin’s ravens could, in some cases, appear on Odin’s second phase.
  
• Dutch translations updated.
  
• Czech translations updated.
  

On October we will be releasing a new Halloween update. This time Helheim will join Midgard with spooky decorations, both on the realm and on monsters.
Halloween weapons will return and a one of the characters will get a new skin. Can you guess who?

We couldn't resist posting Malurt the Moth Queen on her Halloween costume. She looks much nicer this way.

Today we have 2 new announcements.

[h2]Artbook updated[/h2]
First of all, the definitive edition of the digital artbook has been updated!

You will find KAOS and Unn as an addition to the already existing characters, so all 1.0 release content is included. Further characters, relics or maps won't make an appereance. This means the artbook is now complete and you will be able to enjoy it to its maximum potential. If you already got it, you may re download once again it so have the full version.

Second announcement, new character coming next week!

Yes!! Lorcan will be landing very soon and will provide tons of hours of fun. We will be introducing a new mechanic: Luck!

After this summer break we’re filled with energy and ready to work on Nordic Ashes once again!
As always, we’d like to share our roadmap with you, so everyone knows what to expect and when.

[h2]Nordic Ashes new Roadmap[/h2]

• August: Today’s update will be related to fixes and bugs you reported during last month.
  
• September: New character! Because that’s the best way to begin a new development, right?
  
• October: Halloween Festival, which will include a new spooky character skin, decorations for one of the realms (in addition to Midgard) and seasonal relics.
  
• November: Nordic Ashes DLC! More info in the future, but we’re sure you’re gonna love the new ideas we have planned!
  
• December: Winter Festival, which will include a new winter character skin, decorations for one of the realms (in addition to Jotunheim) and seasonal relics.
  
• 2025: Console release + more stuff to be revealed :D

And now, the fixes and improvements:

• In some cases, KAOS wouldn’t show new options if you had banned all the remaining relics.
  
• Skull Staff stopped throwing projectiles in some cases.
  
• Revna’s sprite was appearing flipped when flying to the left.
  
• You could step out of Gnöki’s realm boundaries when dashing in some places.
  
• Sounds were not playing in some Linux versions. This new update should fix that issue.
  
• When M.I.S.S.I.N.G. had Talkôr’s passive, coins were not stacking properly. Now they work just as Talkôr’s do.
  
• Translation improvements: German, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese.
  
• Performance improvements.
  
• On Daily Challenges, on Gnöki’s realm, the unexpected visitor (random character) would not be the same for everyone or would provide different relics. All players should now have the same display.
