As much as we’d love to participate in the GOTY category, we believe our game is more prone to be on the “Sit back and Relax” one (eventhough you must fight Ragnarok, we think from all the categories, this one fits best. Perfect game to chill after work or to play on a rainy day).

New survivor: Alruna

Hello Vikings!
Hope you've had a nice week!

[h2]New survivor: Alruna[/h2]
We’re so happy to introduce you to a new survivor today! Welcome Alruna to the family!
She’s a very peculiar character. “Runa” means secret in old Norse, and we thought it would fit here very well.

[h2]Relics[/h2]
But her name also means “mandrake”, so expect tiny little screeching creatures all over the map.
Alruna has different kinds of abilities. She can master ice, thunder, bleeding and fear.

[h2]Minions from the underworld[/h2]
And we need a special mention to her minions! (who knows how crowded everything would be if you got the chance to find the relic C.O.N.N.E.C.T. in your run…).

[h2]Fixes[/h2]

We read your countless comments, and our dear Muspelheim Phoenix boss has been nerfed, so we hope it's now more balanced.
For some reason, baby Ase and Eir's wings were from their older versions. Now their sprites are correct.
Healing Shrine works correctly once again.
When resetting, souls at the Sacrifice Shrine stopped moving.

As for now, we will be developing the Winter event and Asgard through the following weeks.

Muspelheim Realm

Good morning/evening/night!
Today is the day we release the 8th realm!! ːNA_Expertː ːNA_Crystalː

[h2]Muspelheim[/h2]
On Muspelheim you will find tons of demons, black stone golems and many Logi enemies! (Logi meaning “fire” in Old Norse).
Face three new challenging bosses and become a master of this volcanic area!

[h2]Floor is Lava[/h2]
This realm’s mechanic goes as follows: “the Floor is Lava” which explains itself perfectly ːNA_Hardː. Each time you place your foot inside a lava pool, your burning indicator will rise, and no one wants to experience what happens when it reaches its maximum, thank you very much.

[h2]Burning Heart[/h2]
We also added a new kind of heart, the Burning Heart. This heart will explode when you receive damage and release fire balls that damage your enemies.

[h2]New Dragon Egg Shrine[/h2]
Muspelheim will allow you to unlock a new kind of shrine. A dragon egg will spawn at the begining of the run. After 15 minutes it will hatch and reveal a Legendary item as a reward!

[h2]Fire Relics[/h2]
And of course, a new set of relics, all related to this new realm!

[h2]Niflheim Soundtrack[/h2]
Rubén Meliá did it again! We're so happy to announce that Niflheim tracks are now available and you can enjoy them while playing!

[h2]Fixes and improvements[/h2]

Helheim elite Red Cranium's health was bugged when it divided.
Ice balls, Burning Projectiles and Poison Projectiles where aiming into wrong directions.
Elites stopped appearing in high Ragnarok levels.
Final Boss Jord anims have been slightly modified.
Final Boss Hel's pillars shouldn't have that much HP now.
Minor fixes related to bosses behavior.

Next week you will meet Alruna, our new survivor. Any guesses??

Hi! As promised, here’s Muspelheim beta!

As you may notice, there’s no lava on the ground. We will update the beta in a few days to add a “floor is lava” mechanic.

[h2]How to access the Beta?[/h2]
REMEMBER: To play the beta, you will need to have purchased Nordic Ashes previously.

Open the Steam application.
Go to the Steam library and select Nordic Ashes.
Right click on it and select Properties.
A panel will open, select the Beta option.
Enter the following code: NordicAshesBeta
Click the button to verify that it is correct.
If everything is OK, you will have the Beta option in the drop-down menu. Select it and the game will be updated.

First of all, we’d like to share the following disclaimer (don’t forget to read #8)

Keep in mind that this is a Beta and therefore it may contain bugs and balancing issues.
The purpose of the Beta is that you have access to an early version of the game, so you can help us to fix bugs, balance the game and give suggestions.
The Betas last for a certain period of time. We will release them as new updates are released. This particular one will be open for 1 week.
There is a specific discussion for beta feedback in Steam.
The Beta progress will be saved in your actual account.
You can unlock the Steam achievements already published, but the new ones that will be released will not be available. However, once the Beta version is released, you will receive all achievements you have already earned.
You may upload or stream Beta content if you wish. However, please add a disclaimer to your videos/streams to announce that it is the Beta you are playing, not the public version of the game.
IMPORTANT: To avoid any loss of your progress please follow the next steps:
a. Create a backup of your saving files just in case. There should be no issues but just to be safe please do. You may find them here:
i. windows: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Noxfall Studios/Nordic Ashes/Backup
ii. macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/com.NoxfallStudios.NordicAshes/Backup
iii. linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Noxfall Studios/Nordic Ashes/Backup
b. After playing the Beta, if you wish to return to the main version of the game and deactivate the Beta, please notice that your Beta progress will be lost.

We need one more day to finish polishing the Muspelheim beta, so we decided to delay it one day. Tomorrow it will be up so you can try it!
However, we still have a few interesting updates for today anyway!

[h2]Human Blud[/h2]
As Spooky Season just ended, our dear Blud decided to share his former appearance. Maxim will be available as his human-form skin too!

[h2]New Ragnarok levels[/h2]
We have 3 new additions to this challenging game mode:
Helheim Ragnarok levels I-V
Jotunheim and Vanaheim levels VI & VII

[h2]Fixes and improvements[/h2]

You could move while the run was loading.
Vanaheim statue lasers no longer attack you just right after the run begins.
Thyra’s arrows movement was different depending on your framerate.
Most Polish translations are updated.
