Exciting news! We published the second trailer of SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed at the tinyBuild Connect 2025 showcase. It's about time we shared some details about the Tournament Mode—one of the key differences between the first game and the upcoming sequel. Check it out: 👇

A Short Breakdown of Tournaments:

• 64 players are split into pods of 4
  
• 4 play-off rounds, single elimination
  
• Rounds 1–2 (1/8 and quarterfinals): Top 2 players advance
  
• Rounds 3–4 (semifinals and finals): Only the 1st place advances
  
• The winner of the final match wins the tournament
  
• You can spectate tournaments (limited seats per pod)
  

Also, you can now sign up for a playtest that will happen right after the showcase, where you could be one of the very first people to check the game out. We've already held a few closed playtests, and now, our team is ready to show an in-progress version of SR2 to a broader audience.

Our numbers show that a very impressive 10 million players have played SpeedRunners over the last 13 years—big thanks to all of you! SpeedRunners was the very first game that we at tinyBuild published, and it was the one that put us on the map. Its unique blend of competitive gameplay and precise 2D platforming has proven to be truly timeless. So, right now, we are already sinking countless hours into an early version of SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, and we cannot wait to let you all play it. We want to do justice to the original game by introducing SpeedRunners to the new generation of players and delivering the ultimate competitive indie 2D platformer. Hope you are excited as we are!

For the sequel, we brought Fair Play Labs, the developers of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 1 & 2, on board to level up the gameplay, art, and net code. Here's what to expect:

[hr][/hr]As you might've noticed, SpeedRunners 1 just got updated. A notification about the SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed's reveal has been added to the main menu—so that you don't forget to add the game to your wishlists!

What's crazy about the whole thing is that you can win a copy of SpeedRunners 2 before it even releases! Just join an SR 1 tournament suggestively called "Win it Before You Can Buy it," try yourself there, and if you win, get a Steam Early Access key for the sequel once it comes out!

Anticipating that you may want to know more about the upcoming part two, we scheduled a live Dev Q&A session for April 14th. At 17 CET / 11 am EDT / 8 am PDT, DoubleDutch Games and tinyBuild, the creators and publishers of the original game, respectively, will join Fair Play Labs, the devs of the next installment, to answer any questions our community may have.

[h3]First major announcement![/h3]We are holding a special tournament for the new players in the community called the SR Elevation OVERTIME challenge.

Players with no more than 100 hours and in the Entry or Beginner Leagues in game may join this tournament.

This event will require you to submit proof of this and no smurfs or aliasing will be allowed. We will be issuing a 1 year ban from events if you break this rule.

A sign up page will be made available in the coming weeks in the SR and FFC discords.

[h3]Second Announcement![/h3]SPRINGrunners is here officially on April 1st (and that's no joke) with the another ELO SEASON! This also means NEW SHINY BADGES as well. :P

This season will last from April 1st until the end of June. The Top 24 players on the ELO leaderboard will be invited to the Lord of the Runs tournament happening in August. The other 8 spots will be filled with people who play in the upcoming tournaments.
This means you gotta get out there and play ranked together folks! Remember, everyone starts at the same ELO rating.
You decide your own fate.


Speaking of upcoming tournaments...
[h3]My THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT!![/h3]On April 26th, 2025, We will be hosting the biggest SR tournament of all time with a prize like no other.

I cannot tell you the prize or the format of this tournament yet but you SHOULD tune in to our twitch on April 10th at 9:30 am PDT (12:30 PDT) for a special stream featuring SR related thingys.

We will be talking about The King of Speed, The tournament listed above, the Overtime tournament, and ONE LAST TOURNAMENT (you've asked for) before Lord of the Runs 2025 happening officially in August.

[h3]The FOURTH and LAST MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT![/h3] You guys voted GENETICS back into the game beginning on April 1st! (Happy April Fools Day!). We also felt that both Dash the Night and Disco Lounge also got a lot of people to show support for them so we'll also be adding them back in on May 1st and June 1st respectively!

We will be hosting a map remix contest beginning in May and more details will be announces and a vote held between now and then. Keep your eyes peeled for that!
