We're JellyFrog Games, a team of three indie developers. Today, we're excited to share more about our project, Peppermint Falls – its concept, current developments, and future plans!
[h3]The Farming Sim Idea and Our Team[/h3]
Peppermint Falls marks our debut project. While Alex, our artist, and writer, previously worked on mobile games as a 2D artist, Olga (our Unity Dev) and I (Valeria, Community Manager, and occasional game design helper) have experience in the indie game publishing realm. Inspired by our love for cute farming sims, we decided to create our own.
[h3]Peppermint Falls - Initial Concept[/h3]
Initially, we brainstormed a supernatural farming sim, but we wanted something unique. Inspired by Adventure Time, we settled on a cute candy post-apocalypse theme.
Here’s our first sketch - plants made of sweets, a strawberry milk pond, a jelly frog, and a Teavern - a tavern where they serve you tea.
At first, we didn’t plan the game as an isometric one, instead, we wanted to make a “paper theater” game, similar to Cult of the Lamb and Don’t Starve.
However, since we didn’t have much experience with Unity, we later shifted to a 2D isometric farm, which is what the game is right now.
[h3]What we are working on[/h3]
For now, we have already level-designed the first location, the farm with the living house.
We have already drawn most of the plants and trees as well.

Currently, our artist is working on the house interior - check out the WIP! 
The house interior will later become customizable, and players would be able to decide how it looks by themselves, but in the early build, it’s gonna be like this.
Our Unity Dev is working on the inventory system and is implementing animations into the game! Note: The build is an early WIP, that’s now what the final version will look like.
We have also created several characters, so get ready to meet them! 1) Gilbert, the head of the Merchant Guild!
He’s not the main character, but the main character will be customizable, so for now, he is featured on all Steam screenshots.
Gilbert is a marzipan cat and he’ll be one of the romanceable in-game characters.
2) Fiora, the owner of the Tavern.
Fiora is from candy mushroomfolk (they are called myconides and their mushrooms are made of candy) and she is an owner of the town’s tavern and one of the tavern’s workers. Fiora will be a romancable character.
3) Jean-Paul, a traveling merchant.
They appear only in winter. Jean and Paul share the same mind but have different bodies. And their inner dialogue is happening on the outside!
