Big HIT-REG Improvements + More

[h3]BIG NEWZ LADZ!!! [/h3][p][/p][h3]Hit registration on enemies has been much improved, meaning your weapons will actually hit your target as intended![/h3][p]There are still some edge case issues left though, so we plan to do more work in this area to tighten it up even further. This update makes it so you don't have to compensate for network lag by leading your shots in front of where your target is heading. There are still instances where damage is not registered at all, but these are more rare and due to specific interactions that we will be looking into.[/p][p][/p][p]We're very happy with this change and we're sure you will be too. ːsteamthumbsupː[/p][p]
NOTE: We expect there to be some balance issues for certain vehicles now that hit-reg is improved, so we'll be keeping an eye on feedback and releasing a patch ASAP to address those issues if they arise.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]Another important change to the game with this update is Host Migration. [/h3][p]Now if a host leaves, the game chooses the person who had the lowest ping to become the new host, and all players in that game join a new match with the same map and settings.[/p][p]If a host leaves after 75% of the match has been completed, the new match will use the next map[/p][p][/p][p]This is not a perfect solution, but still a much needed improvement from just being disconnected and taken back to the menu if a host leaves. Either way, it's worthy of a WAAAGH![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][h3]On top of these two major things, we've also got a bunch of changes/fixes in the list below.[/h3][p][/p][h3]NETWORKING[/h3]
  • [p]Huge Hit Registration improvements (see above)[/p]

  • [p]Quick match will now try to avoid matching against high ping matches.[/p]
  • [p]Bug fix for potential lock-up when clients join a match.[/p]
  • [p]Added server name to scoreboard. This is disabled when using streamer mode, which replaces player names with orky ones.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed issue with Steam Cloud not working for some people[/p]
  • [p]Leaderboards should be updating more consistently[/p][p][/p]
[h3]KILL KONVOY[/h3]
  • [p]Bombs now spawn slightly further away from Stompas[/p]
  • [p]Delay before a new bomb spawns increased to 110 seconds (from 90), making it more difficult to detonate multiple bombs back to back[/p]
  • [p]The duration the Stompa is stunned after a bomb is detonated reduced to 2 seconds (from 5)[/p][p][/p]
[h3]MISC[/h3]
  • [p]The Trukk unlock challenge specifies what you actually have to do now[/p]
  • [p]Wartrike "hit two enemies" challenge reduced requirement to 15 times[/p]
  • [p]Fix for scoreboard getting stuck in the HUD if player spams input[/p]
  • [p]Added tips about drifting, plus info on the vehicle help screen[/p][p][/p]

  • [p]Rokkit cooldown decreased to 5 seconds (from 7),[/p]
  • [p]Health decreased to 230 (from 240)

    Seems like the general opinion is that Rokkit is more of a niche weapon pick right now. So, a usability buff to the Rokkit and a small hit to the GMT's overall health seemed to be a good balance.[/p]
[p]LOOTED WAGON[/p]
  • [p]Lobba damage increased to 50 (from 40), damage falloff set to \[50, 0.5] > \[200, 1.0] (from \[50, 0.5] > \[150, 1.0])

    Lobba changes explained: It now deals 25 damage at point blank (increased from 20), deals 40 damage at 150m (same as before), and 50 damage at 200m (from 40). Hitting a 200m lobba shot needs to give the dopamine hit it deserves[/p]
[p]KUSTOM BOOSTA-BLASTA[/p]
  • [p]Speed reduced to 81 (from 85)[/p]
  • [p]Heated Rivet Kannon gets a proper cooldown indicator[/p]
[p]SHOKKJUMP DRAGSTA[/p]
  • [p]Unstable Shokk Rifle damage reduced to 8 (from 9) \[already in previous update][/p]
[p]RUKKATRUKK SQUIGBUGGY[/p]
  • [p]Squig mine damage reduced to 9 (from 12.5)

    Since the reverse falloff was removed, the burst of primary fire + dash + 37 damage from mines was pretty crazy, so this cuts 10 damage off that burst[/p]
[p]TRUKK[/p]
  • [p]Fixed severe issue where the rear guns weren't doing damage. The Trukk should be much more useful now ːsteamhappyː[/p]
  • [p]Slowing effect of Get Stuck In ability duration reduced to 2 seconds (increased fire rate still lasts 3 seconds)[/p]
  • [p]Trukk tips and rolls over less (hopefully)[/p]
  • [p]Acceleration increased -->[/p]
  • [p]Range on all guns increased by 25m \[already in previous update][/p]

More fixes

Hey all, here's a list of some more changes to the game with this new patch

Please restart Steam and remember that most patches are not compatible with older ones, so you will not see games from the previous build in the game browser. It will take a little while for new ones to start up - or feel free to create a game!

  • Fixed issue with some challenges not progressing
  • Fixed crash bug at the end of match rewards screen
  • Fixed bug where hosts were not able to use their customized vehicles
  • Fixed bug when selecting alternate abilities in the Kustomize screen
  • Improved race waypoint sync for Free Roam mode
  • Fixed issue with full games showing as 15/16 in game browser
  • Swapped Konstruct skin reward on existing challenge to scrap boost, as it was causing issues
  • Added new challenge to both Looted Wagon and Grot Mega Tank that reward players with the Konstruct skin
  • Added daily Rukkatrukk challenge, 6 kills + assists
  • Added daily Trukk challenge, 3 kills
  • Attempted to improve performance on Da Dust Up and Da Gorge
  • Fixed some minor collision and visual issues in some maps
  • Removed "Mob Up!" achievement for the time being, as parties are not currently in the game
  • Disabled daily party challenge since playing in a party is no longer possible.
  • Fix for showing player level at Kill Kam and MVP screens

We've been pretty on top of issues and still are working on the bigger ones like hit reg and host migration. We'll let everyone know when there's news on that or other high priority items ːsteamthumbsupː

Some Quick Fixes

OI, just a quick one with some fixes below that we felt necessary to patch
    Fixed crash related to player states
    Fixed issue with game browser not updating
    Fixed accessories issue in the Kustomize menu
    Fixed players not getting scrap from solo matches
    All maps autoselect now when creating a new game
    Bots are enabled by default when creating a new game
    Added number of players in public lobbies to the bottom of the Game Browser
    votekick response window changed to 20 seconds

    Team Balancing + Some Fixes

    Just dropped a small patch before the weekend. Please be sure to restart Steam to make sure you've got it!

    NOTE: You may see less games in the game browser until more people download the update, as there will still be some people playing in the previous build. Those games won't show up in the latest build and vise versa



    Here's whats up:
    • improved skill calculation (and thus team balancing)
    • Players can now switch to the losing team at any point in the match as long as the losing team has equal players or less
    • Prevention of players to be able to join games that are in their ending phase to avoid issues. Games in ending phase now show up greyed out in the game browser,
    • Game browser now dynamically updates,
    • Prevented votekick being able to kick host
    • Crash bug fix relating to player challenges
    • Longer challenges now show HUD popups more frequently (every 10% instead of 25%),
    • Rukkatrukk Blood Axes kit gets hidden since its not supposed to be unlockable until later
    • Fix for Trukk skulls kit texture issue,
    • Fix for PLAY GAME screen explainer not accepting keyboard/gamepad inputs (Steam Deck suffered from this),
    • Da Gorge map has expanded boundaries now, lighter nighttime version
    • networking clean-up, more solidity,
    • Progression data storage improvements,

    Major things up next:
    • Host "migration" so that if a host leaves or gets disconnected for any reason, the lobby of players is not disbanded, but instead is put in a game together with the same settings with a new host
    • Hit reg improvements
    • Warbands system (clans/clubs). This was meant to go into the launch version but just had some UI still left to do on it

    Please restart Steam to make sure Speed Freeks updates to latest

    [h3]Things FIXED:[/h3]
    • Not being able to join games properly, whether through Quick Match, or the Game Browser 🎉,
    • Not seeing all regions in the game browser 🎉
    • Not being able to create a game 🎉
    • Not being able to perform actions after a failed attempt at joining a game. Now the game will tell you if it's still processing a previous request
    • Servers now listed in order of lowest ping in the Game Browser

    Cheers for your patience with the game being pretty broken 🛠️
    Obviously it was a pretty messy launch with these unforeseen connection issues popping up, but honestly we've had a really quick response to it thanks to our lead programmer (and only networking expert), the Wired QA testing team, and our community members for helping us test too.


    [h3]Issues still happening:[/h3]
    • Performance issues/stuttering when using Full Screen Windowed mode in the display settings.
      Workaround: Please instead use WINDOWED mode with your native resolution, or try FULLSCREEN mode instead,
    • Fatal error crashes. We've done some work on this so hopefully it's better, but these are the types of deep crashes that are hard to reproduce and diagnose. We'll continue to work on it
      Note: try to run as few things in the background when playing the game as possible
    • Game browser can sometimes - but rarely - show nothing, or a loading icon
      Please just restart the game if this happens, and try not to refresh the game browser constantly or it will bug out
    • There's an issue with servers using the same name and it confusing the game,

    • Warbands, which are like a clan/club feature. This was supposed to be in for launch but didn't make it in time.
