🔧 Dev Blog 11 - Deff Rally 🔧

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2078450

Oi, not long now till you all get racing again.
So, let’s discuss this capture-the-flag inspired game mode!

Deff Rally is the other game mode, alongside KILL KONVOY, launching with Early Access on August 6th. It pits two teams of eight against each other in a race to capture points. The first one there, scores big for their team.

Getting there first is, on paper, the easy part. You and your team then must hold the capture point as the enemy arrives, and the frenzy of bullets unfurls. Holding the point increases how many points you earn. Control is easy to lose, so keeping the capture point is crucial for victory.

Eventually, the point is secured, and a mad dash to reach and dominate the next point begins.

When all Capture points have been fought over, a final high Orktane race to the finish line beings to see who’s the ultimate speedy Ork. Your placement in the final race will decide how many points you earn, so it’s all about getting there faster than your opponents. Death, naturally, will slow you down.

Each vehicle has unique roles and abilities that come to life in Deff Rally. We can’t wait to see how you play it and evolve the game-mode. Here’s some examples of how vehicles can be played in Deff Rally.

Boomdakka Snazzwagon – With the Snazzagon being better in mid-close ranges, it excels when on the offense taking back the point or getting into the heart of the enemy team.

Defkilla Wartrike – Because the Deffkilla Wartrike will struggle if it sits still on a capture point, you will often see it drive around taking down key enemy targets, such as Rukkatrukk Squigbuggies or long ranged vehicles.

Shokkjump Dragsta – The Shokkjump Dragsta is fast, so getting to the next objective first, or winning the race is where the Shokkjump Dragsta really shines.

Kustom Boosta Blasta – With some of the best mid to long ranges, chipping away at enemies while they’re approaching the capture point is a specialty of this vehicle. Soften them up for your team.

Looted Wagon – With heavy damage at long range, one well-placed shot from the Looted Wagon can decide if a push onto the point will succeed or not.

Grot Mega Tank – As the heaviest of the bunch, dislodging a Grot Mega Tank from the point after they’ve gotten settled is a struggle. Hold the point while your team is focused on stopping the enemy attack is where the Grot Mega Tank excels.

Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy – Don't underestimate the Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy because they can quickly get their team back to full health and ready for the next enemy push onto the point. Recovering your teams' health stops them from being krumped and ultimately delayed while respawning.

Your feedback this past year has helped us balance and shape Deff Rally into what you will see with August 6th release.

This game mode will continue to evolve with your feedback so don’t hesitate to leave your thoughts over on our feedback and bug reporting board: https://speedfreeks40k.featureupvote.com/

With four maps available on early access release, and changes to the ones you know we’re excited to get you back in as fast as possible!

🔧 Dev Blog 10 - Kustom Boosta-Blasta 🔧

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2078450

The Kustom Boosta-Blasta, is a roaring engine of destruction in the hands of the Orks. A mid-ranged vehicle who lays down Dakka upon the battlefield from afar and uses their utility to stay at a distance.

In Speed Freeks this versatile vehicle allows for a lot of different playstyles to suit the scenarios you find yourself in. Whether it’s using your mobility to help out with objectives, laying down fire on the battlefield, helping to pick off key targets or putting pressure on the enemy tanks.

The base speed of this vehicle is average, tied with the Boomdakka Snazzwagon. However, the Burna Exhaust ability is a strong movement tool that opens a lot of possibilities, such as jumping onto a roof to escape enemies, getting extra airtime to recharge your boost bar, or using Dash right as you land to convert vertical speed into horizontal speed.

Abilities

Rivet Kannon
This fearsome tool-turned-weapon fires a thunderous hail of heated rivets.

Stikkbomb
Hurl a Stikkbomb to damage and disrupt enemy vehicles.

Burna Exhaust
An explosion of flame from the exhausts lifts the Kustom Boosta-Blasta off the ground.

Dash
The vehicle lunges violently forward and smashes enemies. The direction you are aiming determines where the vehicle will go.

Managing your range is key to playing the Kustom Boosta-Blasta. Never get too close to close ranged opponents, and never be too far away from long ranged opponents. As the Kustom Boosta-Blasta you are useful at many different ranges, use it to your advantage and be at the range your opponents are weak at.

Use your utility to keep opponents at the distance you want them at. Throw the grenade to throw them off their track or jump up to high ground where they can’t reach you. You decide where you want to fight.

Team-Ups
The Snazzwagon and Boosta-Blasta are a potent combo, with both vehicles having escape and/or disorientation abilities in Billowing Smoke and the Stikkbomb. This duo can be frustrating for the opposition – and fun for those driving them.
Good Against
Looted Wagon – Using walls and terrain you can stay out of enemy fire, while putting pressure on the Looted Wagon. If they don’t expect, you can easily end up scoring easy kills on it.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is a twisted metal death rally with Orks coming in August

I confess that 2018's Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is a corner of the grim dark far future with which I'm unfamiliar, but it turns out it's an Orky death rally. Its video game adaptation, meanwhile, is a free-to-play, multiplayer, with several team-based modes. It now has an Early Access release date: August 6th.

Oi! Speed Freeks!
You Krumped ‘em gud during da Open Beta and now we haz a release date ta share!!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Settle down yooz lot, an’ get stuck in ta da details below!

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks will launch full speed into Early Access on the 6th of August 2024!

We can’t thank you enough for your relentless energy, feedback and support that has fueled the development of Speed Freeks. Our Open Beta was a thrill to watch unfold, and now we’re looking forward to sharing even more with you as we dash toward the game’s Early Access launch in the coming weeks.

We’re often asked: will Speed Freeks be Free-to-Play?

Yes! Da mek boyz have confirmed that Speed Freeks will indeed be Free to Play, with plenty of snazzy loot to unlock for free.

For those who want to get extra snazzy, we have additional customization features that are entirely optional and most importantly, not pay-to-win. We’ll share more details about this as we near release but rest assured, there will be plenty of Orky loot for everybody.

Speed Freeks’ launch will mark its entry into Steam Early Access for a short period of time, allowing us to make some final adjustments ahead of the first full Speedwaagh, with a roadmap of content dropping later this year.

You can find answers to frequently asked Early Access questions below:
Why Early Access?
We've involved the Speed Freeks community in the game’s development since it began, releasing an open Alpha and open Beta along the way, plus have been testing the game extensively internally to make sure we’re on the right path – taking into account all the valuable feedback that has come our way from those public tests.

Early Access expands the game's player base and extends this method of community-collaborated feedback in a bigger way. We’ll use it to further refine and prioritize features, as well as our future roadmap. This is hugely helpful to our team in achieving its goal of releasing the most fun, balanced, stable and Orky version of Speed Freeks possible!
Approximately, how long will Speed Freeks be in Early Access?
We are aiming for an Early Access period of a few months while we continue to refine our first proppa Speedwaaagh! Which will be released later this year.
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
Whilst a variety of cool content and enhancements will be added during Early Access, the full release of the game will bring a much more honed gameplay experience along with its significant content drop. This will include a new map, new vehicle, new features and enhancements to the game, as well as tweaks and additions based on the feedback we received from you along the way!
Will my progress carry over from Early Access into the games full release?
Yes, all rewards and unlocks earned during Early access will stay with your account when the game moves into launch and season one.
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
We were very proud to read so many comments saying that the Speed Freeks Alpha and Beta Tests were more stable than a lot of fully released games! There are certainly bugs left to squash, but the game is in a good state. Logging on and partying up with your friends to krump some gitz, while unlocking rewards is a fun and stable experience.
Will Speed Freeks be priced differently during and after Early Access?
Speed Freeks will continue to be a Free To Play game.
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
We'll use surveys to ask questions directly and gather general feedback and suggestions with our public feedback board and bug tracker: https://speedfreeks40k.featureupvote.com/

During the Alpha and Beta, you provided a ton of feedback which has directly influenced the direction of our development. And as always, let us know in the comments below if you have anything to say about what we’re sharing with you today, too!
Why do we have to sign up for an account?
Two things, mainly. We'd like to gather telemetry to improve the game, plus contact the community via email through our newsletter. Sharing telemetry data and signing up for the newsletter are both optional, but we need the Speed Freeks account system to ask people if they want to opt in.

The optional telemetry is getting anonymous user data that helps us diagnose bugs and other issues, as well as gameplay info that will help us balance and improve the game overall. Having this data also allows us to show you more detailed stats for things like vehicle ability usage, which will be shown in your Speed Freeks account.

The optional newsletter is valuable for pinging players about new stuff added to the game. As a free to play live service title, it’s important to be able to inform active and inactive players about updates and new content. For example, there were thousands of players that accessed the Alpha test last year that we couldn't directly invite back to the Beta because the Speed Freeks account wasn’t implemented at that time. The newsletter can also send the more dedicated players guides, community content, stats overviews and other info that would interest them. Again, this is optional.

We understand that some gamers are tired of making accounts, we get it. But collecting anonymous user data allows us to improve the game, and the ability to get in touch with players directly impacts the number of users that will be playing it. Free to play games have always survived with the assistance of user accounts, and we're asking you to make one so that it helps create a better, free experience that you guys can possibly enjoy for years.

The Speed Freeks account takes a few minutes to create, but we hope that you’ll take that time to quickly sign up and try our game.

Thanks for reading, and we look forward to joining you in the WAAAGH!

🔧 Dev Blog 09 - Grot Mega Tank 🔧

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2078450

The Grot Mega Tank, a chaotic marvel of Ork engineering pieced together from salvaged parts by their diminutive cohorts, stands as a testament to their resourcefulness amidst their unending conflicts.

Your front-line wall, the spearhead of your Mob. Drive in front, have your allies support you and lead the charge towards enemies.

In Speed Freeks the Grot Mega Tank is a tough vehicle that will take a lot to take down. Using its wide array of guns, and Grot Repairs, this vehicle is not to be taken lightly. Underestimate it and suddenly you will find yourself between a rock and a ’ard place.

The Grot Mega Tank is the second slowest vehicle, with a top speed surpassed only by the Looted Wagon. Riding downhill slopes is the best way to reach higher speeds with the heavy vehicles, and proper boost management is essential if you want to keep your momentum up. A Grot Mega Tank traveling near its top speed is not only moving at a pretty respectable pace, it's also terrifying for enemies to behold.

Abilities
DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!
All the Shootas and the Grotzookas fire alternating shrapnel blasts and dakka in the direction of the crosshair.

Smasha Plow
Holding the button raises the plow into the air, launching nearby vehicles. Releasing brings the plow smashing back down, scattering any vehicles underneath it and dealing damage to enemies.

Rokkit Launcha
The Grot in the high tower fires a powerful, slow moving rokkit.

Grot Repairs
Grots inside of the vehicle perform shoddy repairs, rapidly replenishing the vehicle’s health for a short time.

Grot Mega Tank players should keep an eye on your their health, stay near either a Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy or cover so you can keep yourself healthy in case things gets hectic. Control the area around you using your plow to protect your key teammates.

You are your team’s wall, and will often find your teammates trying to stay alive by hiding behind you. As the pillar of the team, make sure you are where they should be. Evaluate the battlefield and reposition accordingly.

Team-Ups
Boomdakka Snazzwagon – Since the Snazzwagon’s armor isn’t the best, using a Grot Mega Tank as mobile cover can be a good strategy, with it also helping you drown nearby enemies in dakka.

Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy – The dream team! This git will keep you alive using their Grub Squigs. Having a Rukketrukk Squigbuggy on your team that you can play around allows you to do so much more than you can without it. Keep him safe, wall off enemies and work together.

Good Against
Deffkilla Wartrike – The Wartrike wants to quickly fly into your team, hit someone with their Snagga-Klaw and get out. Using your plow, and size you can stop the Deffkilla-Wartrike in its tracks, and fatally ruin their plans.
