Patch #1 - Herbalist and her Seeds

We present to you the very first Alchemist: The Potion Monger patch. [/h3]
That's the way we'd like to develop the game further with small Hotfixes and bigger Patches adding new things.
Without further ado, here is what's new!

[h3]New Seeds for your garden![/h3]

You can now buy 3 new seed bags:
Roses - at Herbalist shop
Many Eyes - at Witch shop
Crystal Roses - at Antiquarian in the Winterlands

Grow your plant collection NOW!

[h3]Rework of some particular boss fight![/h3]

Said boss now has a health bar, and a bit more HP, however, its immunities have been tweaked a bit, and now can be hurt with explosions!

[h3]New Philosopher Stone UI[/h3]

Some of you reported that the UI of Philosopher Stone was a bit unclear so we changed the alignment of Tools and Aspects.

  • Quest "THE HERBALIST" fixed.
  • Changing the key binds should no more display .
  • Black Market bug fixed.
  • Red Slimes now drop Red Slime (sic).
  • Turtle now works as intended.
  • Cut-scene in the Farmlands no longer freezes the game.
  • Herbalist no longer reads the book she should not have.
  • Major no longer disappears.
  • Philosopher Stones hints tweaked.
  • Symbols on the chests in the Cave are now easier to read.
  • Added a few missing item descriptions.

Hello Alchemists!
We are constantly monitoring our Discord and Steam Discussions to squish those pesky bugs and grant you the best EA experience possible. 🛠️
Here is what we did:
  • Fixed the disappearing player stall.
  • Added Resolution change and Windowed Mode.
  • Fixed Almanach UI on 4:3 resolutions.
  • Fixed disappearing player furniture and items after loading.
  • Japanese pet names can now be used.
  • Fixed "The Herbalist" quest not working as intended.
  • The automatic Recipe count works properly now.
  • Fixed the Hearthpotion on the key characters.
  • Composter no longer causes items to duplicate.
  • Paint no longer disappears.
  • Chests in the world now work as intended.
  • Items no longer disappear when loading the game.
  • Added weapons localization.
  • The dog no longer sniffs the air.
  • Fixed the bug with disappearing Eve.
  • Moved the clock a bit.
  • Filled the holes in German translation.
  • Nerfed the Herbalist.

We have decided to help you with some of Alchemist: The Potion Monger's common questions based on the feedback from events (gamescom23’, Tokyo Game Show 23’ and Poznań Game Arena) and people who already played the game.
We hope you’ll find it helpful![/h3]

  • What type of game is Alchemist: The Potion Monger?
    A first-person alchemist simulator with RPG elements.
    Players can explore the open-world environment, collect ingredients, fight enemies, and enjoy the broad landscape that the game offers. You can accept missions from anthropomorphic animals that inhabit local lands and complete them for a suitable reward.
    Gathered coins can be used to decorate and upgrade players' living areas to make them more cozy and enjoyable.

  • Early Access while there are more than 10 hours of gameplay?
    We would like to grow the game based on the player's feedback and add new clever player-suggested things to it!
    We have decided to add additional side quests as well as new content. But still, it depends on you how far we can go with it.

  • Is there any common ground with the previous title "Alchemist Simulator"?
    The game shares some similarities, mostly the Aspect-based potion crafting system, however "Alchemist: The Potion Monger" is a new game in terms of graphics, lore, and gameplay in general. We developed a brand new title hence still in the alchemy vibes.

  • Simulation puzzle and adventure game - how come?
    Simulation and puzzle components are mostly to be found inside the player's home/lab while trying to figure out how to create various potions with the available tools and alchemical ingredients.
    Adventure (with some RPG mechanics) can be found in the outside world. You can explore the Island, interact with various characters, do quests, and acquire new abilities.

  • Can my child play this game?
    Alchemist: The Potion Monger doesn't include any gore, sex, alcoholic beverages, nudity, etc.
    The game is a great fit for experienced as well as casual players - those who would like to have fun and chill after a hard day at school or work - even children.

  • I find the game too hard is there a way to make it easier?
    Based on players' feedback during the gamescom23’ (Germany) and TGS2023 (Tokyo), we have implemented two difficulty modes - Apprentice (easier mode) and Alchemist (for more experienced players).

  • How many potions I can brew in the game?
    As for the start of Early Access players can create 66 different potions.
    Effects vary from healing, floating, fire-breathing, explosions, throwing up, increasing strength, and freezing to even nukes.
    We’ll keep adding new ones through Early Access.

  • I have seen a dog and other animals - what is their purpose?
    The main purpose of various alchemical pets (besides keeping you company) is to discover alchemical Aspects of the ingredients found in the game world.

  • Can I pet the dog?
    Of course! How could we not include it?

  • How does the save system work?
    You can save your progress at any time by sleeping in your own bed/sleeping mat.

  • Is there a multiplayer or coop mode?
    No - just single player.

  • Mouse and keyboard or controller?
    You can do as you wish - mouse and keyboard or controller.

  • How many languages does the game support?
    We have 6 languages in the game - English, Japanese, German, Spanish - Spain, Polish, and Simplified Chinese.
    We have in plan to add more thus we encourage all players to support us if any language is missing and you would like to help us localize "Alchemist: The Potion Monger".

  • Where can I find the player.log and save files?
    This is the full path on your local drive and depends what is your username:

    You can access AppData by searching for “%appdata%” in your system search.

  • I have a great idea on how to improve the gameplay or add something cool - what should I do?

Hotfix #1

Hello Alchemists!
The EA release is behind us, we've been collecting your feedback from day one and fixing things. 🛠️
Here is what we managed to do:
  • Fixed bugs regarding the "Archeology" quest.
  • Fixed bugs in the "Dead Men Tell No Lies" quest.
  • Patched Polish translation.
  • Removed furniture duplication glitch.
  • Buffed "Potion of Toxic Breath".
  • Shops now show proper player reputation level.
  • Skeletons now drop bones.
  • Delay on the LMB after finishing the dialogue (prevents from accidentally throwing a potion)
  • Squished inventory bug with disappearing items (holding shift and clicking).
  • Fixed NPC movement bugs.
  • Stove VFX is no longer pink.
  • Resolved saving issues.
  • Dying cows are no longer red.
  • Tweaked Philosopher Stone hints for some potions.
  • Fixed some potion contracts to now give proper amounts of gold and reputation.
  • Swampland chest can now be opened.
  • The "Poison Immunity" potion now has a proper sprite.
