To begin with, we are so happy to see all your support for the “Pile Up!” whether you just played the game or sent lots of bug reports. It really means a lot to us. Some of you played the game with your children, some of you made fanarts for it and some of you shared the game with your communities. Thank you, thank you for everything! All of these remind us why we started developing games in the first place and why we want to continue pursuing it. With our energy being at its highest of all time, it’s time to make our plans come to life. So let’s get back to work!

After reading most (if not all) of your feedback we prepared a plan. Our top priorities are fixing the bugs and optimization issues, adjusting the randomness, making quality of life changes, bringing you clarity updates, remaking the tutorial, making the game more balanced, and fixing the localization problems. Well, why don't I just *show* you?


It’s time to share our Early Access Roadmap with you! Ta da!



You will be able to see the status of these updates from the store page at any time you want. And if you think there is something missing in this roadmap, then please inform us via any platform you like, and we will read it. Whether you post on our Steam blog or tell us about it on our Discord server or reach us out via social media. We *try to* check everywhere. Everywhere.

With this being out of the way, haven't you played the game and made brand new strategies yet? Isn’t it time for a new contest? Well, yes. We are working on a competition which will be held on our Discord Server. More information will be announced soon, so keep an eye out!

Lastly, you might have seen some patches to the game within the last week. The reason being that we were fixing the bugs. And guess what? We fixed even more bugs and will update the game today. So here’s a list of the bugs we fixed within the last week!

State of The Game - April 2023

As we said in the previous announcement we made, Pile Up! is going to be released in this quarter of the year. This means we don’t have much time before release so it’s time to break the radio silence and inform you engineers, architects, and mayors about the state of the game and more!

[h3]This will be a bit long so TLDR is at the bottom. But keep reading if you want to learn about every detail.[/h3]

[h2]About Release:[/h2]
Let’s talk about the release first since we are so excited about it.

The game is going to be released as Early Access but we don’t want you to think that this means Pile Up! will be an unfinished game at release. We are trying to give you a fully developed experience. So, why are we releasing the game as early access then? Well, there are a couple of reasons for this.
  • Content: Even though the early access contains a full gameplay loop it still misses some content that we want to add to the final version. An example? Islands! We want to add different and unique islands to the game as the game develops in Early Access. The main reason being that we can polish those islands more and deliver better gameplay for them. I need to add, we added one more island for the Early Access so you can experience how those will be.
  • Balance: We are a team of 5 so the testing we can do is limited. To compensate for this we are starting a closed beta test (more information is below) and releasing the game as early access so we can see more people playing the game and finding broken combos.
  • Technical Stuff: Important stuff like leaderboards can be very challenging to code and we have lots to code. Also having a leaderboard before we are happy with the game’s balance can be problematic.
  • Pricing: We want Pile Up! to be affordable to anyone. We want to thank our early access players in a way too. So, we will release the game with a discount for the first week and the game’s overall early access price will be cheaper than the full release. So be quick! We will post another announcement before the release informing you of the exact price so keep an eye open.

Now let’s talk about the Early Access release date, which is close. Like really close. Closer than you might think. So close to be exact. But how close? Now that is a mystery, but it won’t be for long because we will post an Early Access Release Date Trailer in a couple of weeks. (We don’t even know if there is a type of this trailer, but let’s just roll with it.) If you want to learn the release date as soon as we release the trailer, follow our socials and get ready!

Finally, the demo. We secretly updated it in February adding more content and making it longer. So, if you didn’t try it, be fast. BECAUSE THE DEMO WILL BE REMOVED AFTER ONE WEEK FROM NOW. Why? The release is close and we want to increase your thirst for the game. But you are not going to be Pile Up!’less for a long time, we promise.

What did we do? Why did we do that? What will we do? Do we do? Yes, do you?

The game is currently gameplay-ready. This means it is fully playable but still needs improvements for clarity, visuals, sounds, and QOLs. Also, we are still working on localization, steam achievements, and more!

With all these new contents, the game is fully playable as we said. So, it is time for us to begin closed beta! If you think that you can help us make the game better with your direct feedback, send an application! The closed beta will be a small but dedicated place for all of us to make the game better. We will provide Steam codes for the Beta for all beta testers.

[h3]What do we expect from our testers?[/h3]
  • Don’t sweet talk. We want your thoughts about the game to be as pure as they can be. We already heard worse than what you think is terrible to say, believe us.
  • Record your playthroughs. This is not obligatory but would be extremely helpful if you could record some. We want that playthrough as pure as they can be, so no editing.
  • Take lots of screenshots. Bugs, beautify cities, something funny, something horrible. You name it, we’ll use it giving credit to you.
  • Report every bug you encounter. Try to recreate it if you can and write to us how it occurs as much as you can. Also, providing us with the visuals of the bug helps us immensely.
  • Fill out the feedback forms that we will send to you after each time we update the version. They won’t take much time if you don’t want to write a legend of course. We are all here for those legends though.
  • Give us emotional support, it is not hard. Just be present, chat and be a wholesome person. We also want our testers to meet and work together so being a team player is very much appreciated.
  • Play, play as much as you want and can so the game can get better with the info we get from you!

We touched some grass, ate healthy, and did sports. But we weren’t socialising. Now we do socialise! Without doing all the others!

Since the release is soon and the hard truth about the importance of social media hit our heads like a good old pan, we began to use social media more. So, you better follow us to be exposed to:
