Co OPERATION: MultiTurn News

Dev team _were_ playing live (Rebroadcast)

A few of us from Mind Feast Games played the game live. I know, it would have been safer to leave a pre-recorded video running, but we do like to challenge ourselves. So we be played through the latest version of the game and some of the mods too. We discussed indie gamedev and a few friends showed up in the chat. In total we played for 4 hours (with a few bio breaks) on Sat 15'th June from 4-8pm BST.

We're hoping to have another live stream by a guest streamer at 9pm BST (2pm MST) so we'll cease this video then! Enjoy and feel free to comment below for us when we're awake :)

v0.4.3

Change log summary (since v0.3.5):
As well as some improvements and fixes we added a big new feature!

 • 8 players can now join an online session at the same time! 4 people can play as the normal player-doctors and 4 can be dialogue writers. It’s a flexible system so any player can be both a doctor and a writer at the same time if wanted.
 • Improved Ul so it’s more clear that 2 characters are required in single-player mode: you control both characters.
 • Steam Cloud saves are now supported for any saved progress.
 • New patient-characters added!
 • Cammy the chameleon will now need your help.
 • Olivia’s grandma Avo has brought her to Lonchester hospital so you can help her.
 • A few adjustments to levels to make them more fun and/or … less impossible.
 • Adjustments to animation timings so patients remain whole-bodied when you heal them.
For modders:
 • You can now add custom lights

Co OPERATION: MultiTurn - An Ideal Game for Remote Play Together?

Co OPERATION: MultiTurn is part of the 2024 Remote Play Together Fest. After installing the demo, you can invite up to 3 friends to help you heal the patients in each ward of Lonchester Hospital.

The core gameplay and control system is ideally suited for Remote Play Together or any other streaming software. That’s because Co OPERATION: MultiTurn is a simultaneous-turn-based game and if one or more players have e.g. a 0.5 second lag on their stream, the gameplay is not really affected and it’s still a fun experience.

Here’s how that works in-game. All players see a game map. You might see some patients or tiles where you know patients will spawn, hospital beds, different medicines types and a map layout with a particular challenge.

As a team, you and your friends will likely discuss what you should do. While thinking and talking, all of you will schedule four actions. When everybody has clicked “ready”, all the characters will move and execute their actions at the same time on the shared game screen. You’re all on the same team and you all plan actions at the same time. So even if one of you has a small amount of lag in seeing the stream of the shared screen, it doesn’t really matter

We’ve created a controller system similar to the Jackbox series of games. Each game session has a join-code. Go to our URL on your computer, phone, tablet or anything else with a web browser and type in the join-code. You’ll then be connected to the host game session. This makes it super easy to invite your friends to play with you. They watch the shared game screen but control their character via their connected device.

In our testing, the combination of the core gameplay and the control scheme make Co OPERATION: MultiTurn a lot of fun to play over a stream, whether that’s on Steam Remote Play, Discord, Twitch or whatever.

Having said that, it doesn't really matter what we think… It’s more important what you think and whether you and your friends have fun playing it together. After you’ve had a go, please do let us know what you think. At the time of writing, the demo is as at v0.3.9. Feedback from our early players informs what improvements and features we add to the game, so let us know what you think..!

The demo of Co OPERATION: MultiTurn is now LIVE!!

After a couple years of development and testing we’ve released the demo of Co OPERATION: MultiTurn on Steam..! 🎉

If you didn’t already, please do wishlist the full game while you are installing the demo as that will awaken THE ALMIGHTY ALGORITHM who will bestow blessings upon our humble Steam page.

We’re focused on creating an experience that helps people to connect with friends and family. Here are some quotes from a few of our lovely Discord community members:
It feels like someone watched us playing games and decided to put together one built just for us. Lol” - Challak

Streamed the game last night with some friends and had tons of fun” - Blakk Draggon

Great game to play with friends, we had fun throwing things/people around!” - stenwolf
Fun fact: there’s an in-game survey when you close the game from the menu. For the year that Co OPERATION has been in closed-testing, 90.5% of people ticked “I would recommend this game to others” 😊

We know there is still a long way to go before we get to version 1.0 but it’s really encouraging that our early players feel that we’re going in the right direction.

Thanks again to everyone who has joined us so far on this journey, and if you are just joining us now - welcome!

All the best from everyone here at Mind Feast Games!
