Price Increase as Part of Official Launch Preparations

Agents,

It is almost hard to believe that Section 13’s official launch is coming next month! We appreciate all the support and feedback our Agents gave us on our journey, and hope to repay with the best gameplay experience our team can provide.

The game has come a long way, but there is still more distance to cover. We are working hard on new content to introduce at launch, including the final boss fight, narrative content, and more!

We shared a heads-up last month that we will be increasing the game’s price as part of our preparations for official release. We have finalized the details, and would like to share the information with our Agents in advance. Below is a list of some of the regional pricing changes to give you a better idea:
  • USD: $12.99 → $19.99
  • AUD: $18.95 → $29.50
  • CAD: $16.99 → $25.99
  • EUR: 12,79 € → 19,50 €
  • GBP: £10.99 → £16.75
  • JPY: ¥1,500 → ¥2,300
  • KRW: ₩14,500 → ₩21,500

The price change will go live on April 11 at 10 AM Pacific Time. If you have not purchased the game yet, try out the demo now and grab a copy before the price goes up!

We are deploying a hotfix patch (Ver. 0.30.6) to bring improvements and fixes to various issues reported. We are grateful for our community sharing their experience so that we could look into them. We will continue to review all your feedback and reports to constantly improve Section 13.

For the changes included in this patch, please see below.
[h3]Changes[/h3]
  • Now all characters are unlocked & selectable when you play multiplayer, instead of having to unlock them in single-player first
  • Friendly fire and ammo limit will be toggled off by default for multiplayer sessions
    • Agents who want the challenge can have the host toggle them on in the mission preparation screen before entering the base
  • Adjusted Beaker’s HP Regen rate
  • HP Regen: When taking hits, this allows you to recoup a portion of the lost HP. This is shown as a yellow portion in your HP bar when you take damage.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed the issue that could delete save files
    • We also adjusted the interval of backup save creation in order to minimize any impact from similar issues in the future
    • We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused
  • Fixed issues that could cause the game to crash
  • Fixed the issue where Cell Samples were not dropping in multiplayer
    • Cell Samples unlock higher difficulty levels, which can be selected at the mission preparation screen before entering the base
  • Fixed the issue that prevented the session result screen from displaying if you died for the first time
  • Fixed the issue where spent STAR Pins would be returned to you when you got disconnected during multiplayer
  • Fixed the issue where the HP Regen amount would sometimes not disappear from the HP bar

Please note that if you are playing at this time, your game will not be interrupted. You will be prompted to download the patch the next time you open Section 13. Please install the update as soon as possible for the best experience.

Don’t Miss the Last Discount on Early Access Pricing!

Section 13 has come a long way since its Early Access release in 2023. It would not have been possible without all the Agents supporting us through the journey.

As we are on the final stretch towards our official release this May, we would like to share that Section 13’s base price will increase in April, from $12.99 to $19.99 (USD). We will announce the exact date soon.

Meanwhile, you can seize the current 25% Daily Deal, which will be the last discount before the price changes! This will be the lowest price you will see for the foreseeable future, so make sure you grab it now and tell your friends, too!

Dev Log: Official Launch Prep, Price Change, and April Update Preview

Hello, this is Jaeeun Park.

First and foremost, we sincerely thank all our players who have patiently waited since the game's initial Early Access launch as "Blackout Protocol", as well as all the new players who have joined since the soft-relaunch under the new title. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.


With our last major update in March, we have finally reopened co-op multiplayer mode, as well as introducing new levels, creatures, synaptic enhancements, and tactical gear. This marks the beginning of our full-scale preparations for the full release. It's taken a long time to refine and reorganize many aspects of the game, much of which entailed behind-the-scenes work that was not always readily visible on the surface. However, since the last update, the work on the official launch build—most of which is already prepared—is now nearing completion. Based on the feedback we've received since the March update, we'll be implementing a balance patch in April. Then, in May, we plan to proceed with the official launch as promised.


In fact, following the update and our showcase at the Future Games Show, we've seen an increase in the number of players enjoying the game. Riding on this momentum, we're collaborating with Steam to run a Daily Deal for one week starting March 29th. Just like the Spring Sale, the game will be available at a 25% discount. However, with the official launch approaching, the base sale price will be increasing to $19.99 USD soon after the Daily Deal ends. This will be the last chance to purchase the game at a lower price before the official release, so we hope many of you take advantage of this opportunity!
After the Daily Deal and balance patch in April, we'll be heading once more to PAX East in May, where we look forward to meeting players in person. Following that, we're preparing for a simultaneous release on Steam, PS5, and Xbox later in May.

The official release will feature a ton of new content, including the final boss, new and fully voiced story content in the game's main path, a pile of unlockable story content that delves into each playable Agent's personal mysteries, and various other updates. We'll share more about all that in another dev log in the future. For today, we'd like to share details on the April balance patch, along with a few screenshots of the final update content currently in progress. Thank you again for your support, and if you have any friends interested in the game, we hope they'll consider hopping in while the Daily Deal's going on.

[h3]April Balance Patch Preview[/h3]
  • Adjustments to how Synaptics and Agent Upgrades are Unlocked
    → We're doing a bit of fiddling with progression systems (which will primarily affect new players, rather than existing ones). We'll share more details on this soon.
  • Co-op Mode Difficulty Adjustment
    → We are currently testing a slight increase in difficulty when playing in multiplayer.
  • Shop Item Adjustments
    → The number of weapon perks across all levels will be adjusted, and the quantity of specific shop items will be increased.
  • Weapon Attachment Drop Rates
    → We'll be making some adjustments to make it easier to acquire weapon attachments.
  • Beaker's Special
    → We're testing out lowering the cooldown time on Beaker's special ability.
