Shale: Version 0.21

Early Access is now live for Shale!

With this initial 0.21 release I've added another boss at level 20. I've also added new fire modes for the receiver weapon part. Now there are semi-auto and burst fire modes via trading, looting or crafting and full-auto mode via the upgrade vendor. Enjoy!



Just want to say thanks to all of you that played Shale until now and have given me some great feedback on your experience with it. I've put together the high level basic road-map for Shale and the biggest content updates I am planning for it. Of course this doesn't include patches, minor updates, improvements, changes and hot-fixes but I hope it gives a good idea as to where I'd like Shale to be at for 1.0 release.



I'll make this road-map available in-game and in discord as well for anyone that misses it. Also if you have any questions about the road-map or Shale, feel free to post it here or on the Discord. I'm happy to discuss anything about the game. ːsteamthumbsupː

Shale: Public Play Test

Version 0.2

The Public Play Test is now open to all players so jump in and give it a go! ːsteamhappyː

As I have about a month until Shale goes into Early Access I would appreciate any feedback and issues/bugs that any players come across. Please drop your comments in the discussions forum here or on the Shale Discord Server.

The Public Play Test will be active for about a week which I'm hoping will give players enough time to dive in and get a feel for what Shale is like. As I've stated in the description, Shale is still missing a lot of content that I am planning to add during the Early Access life-cycle. The intention is to add new locations, encounters, two more enemy factions, NPCs, skins, unlocks, damage effects, a lot of enemies, a lot of bosses, combat balancing, increasing the level cap, map variety and much more.

Also if you have any questions feel free to post it here or on the Discord. I'm happy to discuss anything about the game. ːsteamthumbsupː

Shale: Upcoming Public Test

As I'm getting ready to release Shale into Early Access, I'm having an open public playtest coming up on the 5th of July that will be available for one week!

This will be Version 0.2

At this point the game will feel a bit repetitive and slow with variety, but so far it currently has a level cap of 25, 7 enemy types, 2 bosses, trading, crafting and more.

The game is still missing a lot of content which I will be adding during the Early Access lifecycle which will include new locations, encounters, two more enemy factions, NPCs, skins, unlocks, damage effects, a lot of enemies, a lot of bosses, level variety and much more. A full development roadmap will be included with Early Access.

The first Early Access Release v0.21 will include another boss, weapon burst and full auto modes. The level cap will stay at 25 but will go up during future updates until the final cap of at least 100.

Shale: Prologue

Now that Next Fest is over, I want to thank everyone that played Shale. All of the feedback and videos of gameplay will greatly help me in choosing the right direction to refine and update Shale to be a much better experience. Although it's still very early in development and I need to put a lot more work into this, it's good to see both negative and positive responses from everyone. ːsteamthumbsupː

For anyone new dropping by, the current technical demo will be available until February 26th. This will allow anyone who missed it or want to try it out again to be able to play it. Again, as this is a technical demo, I will greatly appreciate all feedback from players. So if you find any bugs, have any issues or even just want to share how you felt after playing it, let me know! I will read all feedback and responses on the Shale Forums here on Steam as well as scavenge through YouTube to find any videos of gameplay. ːsteammockingː

The next step will be getting the Pre-Alpha version ready for public testing. Once that is over I will follow it up with getting ready for Alpha and Early Access. If you have any questions about Shale feel free to post in the discussions board and I'll do my best to answer you!

Shale: Next Fest

Discover the abandoned world of Shale in this 1-3 player action adventure. Shoot, craft and loot through cities of possessed creatures, industrial parks of corrupted bodies and fields of forgotten souls.



The demo for Shale will be available during the Steam Next Fest and until February 26th. This is a very early example and a lot will change between now and the planned launch into Early Access in a few months. Until then I hope you jump in and try the Shale Demo!

As this is a technical demo, I will greatly appreciate all feedback from players. So if you find any bugs, have any issues or even just want to share how you felt after playing it, let me know! I will read all feedback and responses on the Shale Forums here on Steam.
