Patch Notes 99: TERA Battle Arena

On 13th October it’s that time again on the TERA servers: patch 99 is coming!
The new game mode: TERA Battle Arena will be released on the 15th of October.

Note: Due to some technical issues the release date of the new game mode TERA Battle Arena will be postponed. We will have more news about the new release date soon.

The latest at a glance:
 • New MOBA game mode: TERA Battle Arena
 • Commander’s Residence with new boss LB-1
 • Modified dungeon difficulties
 • Crafting of powerful etchings
TERA Battle Arena
The New Mode
The new TERA Battle Arena mode (TBA for short) will bring the True Action Combat system of the MMO into the world of Massive Online Battle Arenas (MOBA).

The new mode can be launched in the same manner as the main game: players who want to play TBA can do so without having to play the main game. After choosing a game server you will automatically be asked whether you’d prefer to go to the MMO character selection or the Battle Arena.
The Arena
In the Battle Arena you choose one of 18 heroes. The PvP battles involve four teams each consisting of three players. Loot gold coins from monsters with your group members and increase your level to unlock the ultimate skill.
You’ll find details on all the heroes as well as a breakdown of the UI and game mode on our promo page: https://play.tera-battle-arena.gameforge.com/news-en
We’ll also be giving you an overview of the TBA lobby and the heroes on our Twitch channel on 7th October (the stream will be recorded for later viewing).
Arena Info
The first time you join a server you’ll need to set your character name for TBA! This cannot be changed.
Your profile/character will be bound to the server. While the game rounds automatically pool together players from all servers, you can only join a group with players from the same server before group matching.
There is a selection of freely available heroes that changes every 2 weeks.
Free: Additionally, you can unlock the hero Elleon by redeeming the DLC on Steam or in the shop via the Gameforge client.

There will be two currencies in TBA:

 • Tikat, which can be purchased for real money (real currency > TERA Thalers > Tikat). You can use Tikat to unlock additional heroes and costumes for them. The amount of Tikat you have is synchronized with the MMO. If you already have Tikat in the MMO, you will also be able to use them in the TBA mode.
 • Arena Coins, which you’ll receive for each round you play. The amount depends on how well your team performs. The coins can also be used to unlock heroes—as well as to purchase runes!

New Dungeons
New Boss in the Commander’s Residence
The Commander’s Residence has been updated to give you a 50% chance of facing Maknakh or LB-1 each time you enter battle.
While the details of the instance otherwise remain the same (for example, entry and cost), there are the following difference between the bosses:

Maknakh: Loot may contain an Unstable Option Change Scroll for weapons, armor, gloves, or boots.
LB-1: Loot may contain an Unstable Option Change Scroll for belts, masks, or brooches.
Crafting Etchings
There are new recipes for crafting these etchings, which can simply be purchased from the corresponding NPC for a little Gold. You will also need the rank of at least Artisan to craft them.

Specific types of items are required for crafting. Please note that this is only a rough overview. Each etching type (weapon, armor, etc.) requires different materials:

1x Sharp Black Core Shard
Crafted from 100x Dark Shard Weapon Feedstock and 5x Improved Dark Shard Weapon Feedstock
600x Manaforce Refined Duranium Ore
Obtained via extraction from equipment items
For example: Kaia gear yields 80 pieces, with lower ranks accordingly fewer
6x Solar Essence
Available as loot in dungeons
1x Weapon Etching Fragment
Obtained via extraction from Weapon Etchings IV
The cost of crafting Etchings IV has been reduced by approx. 50%
10,000x Craft Kit
Available from merchants
You will receive one gem each time you craft (a Refined Solar Stone in the case above as the weapons recipe was used as an example). Get a critical success and you’ll even receive two of them. You only need one gem for each etching.
More Details
While the various crafting materials can be traded, the resulting gems and interchangeable etchings cannot! So be sure before you craft a gem.

The new etchings only have a duration of 30 days (1 gem) or 60 days (2 gems) each. After that the effect of your item will wear off.
