Development Update #8: Beta Phase 2 Has Begun



Greetings, Adventurers!

On the 20th of this month, we entered Phase 2 of the beta test, and today I’d like to share some of the upcoming development plans.

In August, we made significant changes to the crafting system. Materials now come with traits like [Rare] and [Cute], which will be carried over to the items crafted from them. This change was something we’ve been wanting to implement to expand the crafting system in the future, and we’re pleased to have achieved it during the beta. For details on all updates made in August, please refer to the release log on Ylvapedia.

Now, I’d like to give you a brief overview of the updates we’re planning to prioritize before Early Access (EA).

[h3]Features we aim to prioritize before EA[/h3]
  • Early game balance adjustments.
  • Refinements to the crafting system and the addition of new traits.
  • Enhancement and expansion of the container system.
  • Adjustments and additions to the guides and in-game help for Nerun and Lutz.
  • Completion of behavior settings for existing monsters and NPCs that were left unfinished.
  • Improvements to the pet enhancement feature.
  • Start of Loytel’s debt repayment.


[h3]Features we hope to implement if time allows before EA[/h3]
  • Introduction of living weapons.
  • Addition of the introduction to Mani (Backer Wish) home series storyline.
  • Addition of Backer Quests (Ultimate Curry Quest, Fairy Quest).
  • Adding unique features to story-related NPCs, like the Kettle’s duplication shop (e.g., tool enhancement, equipment enhancement, creation of upgradeable light sources similar to Terraria’s cellphone). Even if implemented, only a portion of these features may make it into EA.


As you can see, our primary focus will be on improving the early game experience and making balance adjustments.

With the intense heat still lingering, we hope all adventurers will bolster their fire resistance and take care of themselves!

Development Update #7: Early Access Begins on November 1st!



Hello adventurers!

We are excited to announce that Elin's Steam Early Access will begin on November 1st 2024, with an expected EA price of 2,980 yen(Approx. $19.56).

While there is still a long way to go before the game is complete, we have made over 150 updates in the roughly eight months since the alpha release at the end of last year. We are eager to continue growing Elin as we approach Early Access, so please look forward to it. We deeply appreciate all the valuable feedback from everyone during the alpha and beta phases.

This month, we have implemented unique divine equipment from all gods, including the backer wish Gods. New enchantments affecting entire factions, various new equipment enchantments, pet growth features(The updates will continue on August), and shipment reporting functions have also been added. In August, we plan to send beta keys to all backers who have not yet received their keys through Kickstarter.

As the summer heat continues, please make sure to prepare your fire resistance and stay safe!

Development Update #6: June's Highlights



Hello Adventurers!

June marked the start of the beta test for Elin, and we've been incorporating feedback from all the new adventurers experiencing Elin for the first time. Here are the highlights of this month's development:
  • Enhancement of the tutorial feature by "Nerun" the guide.
  • Balancing adjustments for various features added or changed during the pre-beta, and early-game balance adjustments.
  • Improvements to the UI and usability. Enhancements to utility functions such as distributing items to the backpack and automatic dumping into containers.
  • Various new features, including the Fox Tribe’s Nefu Village, the God of Strife Yevan, hatching fertilized eggs, the revival of swimming skills, and more.

In July, we will continue to focus on early game balance adjustments and overall polish, including UI and usability enhancements, as we move towards early access. We also plan to start introducing the Backer Wish quests.

In August, we plan to distribute beta keys to all our Kickstarter citizen pledge backers. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you are looking forward to it.

Development Update #5: Beta Begins in June!



Hello Adventurers!

The preparation period before the beta has successfully concluded, and Elin's beta test is about to begin. Many balance adjustments and new features were added during the pre-beta phase. Whether you're a player from the alpha phase or joining us for the first time in the beta, we hope you're excited to experience the improved Elin.

(Only those who pledged on Kickstarter can participate in this beta test. We sincerely apologize to those who have been waiting. We are planning an early access release in the latter half of this year, so please look forward to it.)

Development Update #4: Pre-Beta in Progress



The alpha phase has ended, and in April we focused on developing features for the upcoming Elin beta test.

[h3]Implementation of Guild Quests, Benefits, and Guild Ranks[/h3]
What was merely a placeholder for guilds in the alpha has now been implemented. You can also change magic domains. Currently, the highest achievable rank is Journeyman, similar to the guild perks in Elona. As higher ranks are unlocked, you will see more powerful services like acquiring class feats.

[h3]Addition of Numerous Random Quests and Balance Adjustments[/h3]
A large number of random quests have been added, including familiar Elona quests like performances and harvesting, as well as cooking and procurement quests. The new "Bulk Order" quests allow for the delivery of dozens of materials or junk items at once, providing ample rewards and serving as a way to dispose of surplus resources.

[h3]Dungeon Enhancement and Implementation of Shrines[/h3]
Shrines that grant various effects have been randomly placed in dungeons. More powerful than shrines, statues have also been added, bringing new dynamics to exploring Nefia. Additionally, visual enhancements such as vines and moss have been made to improve the dungeon atmosphere.

Minecarts can now travel on tracks, and many new types of vehicles and track types have been added. In user maps, they be also used to create viewing courses among other uses.


Numerous other revisions, adjustments, and refinements that were not addressed at the alpha stage have been made.

We will continue development for the pre-beta in May and plan to start the beta in June. The beta will essentially rename the current Elin alpha playtest to beta playtest, allowing alpha players to transition seamlessly into the beta without any additional actions. New participants joining from the beta will receive their keys around late May to early June.
