Patch B.0.1.21 - 8/16/2023 Reconnect, Leaver Buster, and More!

New Feature - Leaver Buster

• Players who leave active games while alive will now have a progressively stacking timeout before they can join the next game.
• Playing games or allowing time to pass outside the game slowly decays the penalty times.

New Language Support

• We have added support for Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, German, French, Polish, Turkish, and Korean languages.
• You can change your language on the login page (bottom right drop-up selection).
• All of our translations are works in progress and would love feedback on them. If you wish to give feedback on the translation, or assist us in getting it perfect, contact a moderator on the Town of Salem 2 Discord.

New Experimental Feature - Reconnect System

• This is an experimental feature. There may be visual bugs relating to reconnect that should resolve as you change phases.
• If a player is disconnected during a game due to a blip in wireless connection, for instance, they will be able to try to reconnect.
• Players have around 30s to reconnect. If they reconnect within this window, and before the end of the next night, they will not die due to disconnect.

Improvements

• Increased size of chat/chat log.
• Animations have been added to the new chat to match old chat.
• Removed Four Horsemen Game Mode
• Jailor will no longer lose jails when attempting to execute a town that is saved by an admirer
• Crusader, PotionMaster and Admirer will now know when their target is attacked by a trap
• Monarch will no longer knight a Doomsayer or Pirate that has won and is about to leave the town.
• Plaguebearer is not considered an attacking role to trickster anymore
• Trapper will now dismantle and rebuild their trap on the same night
• Dead chat now has a black background to increase the contrast between the grey text and its background.
• You can now close the Chat Log during Who Died and How announcement.
• The Chat Filter is no longer blocked during Who Died and How announcements.

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a Werewolf bug in which selecting and deselecting a target would prevent rampaging at home and scent tracking that night.
• Fixed bug where an Amnesiac that was knighted and remembered a role would lose the extra vote on judgements
• Fixed outline/dropshadows on dynamic Chinese fonts.

Patch B.0.1.20 - 8/11/2023

Thank you for letting us know about the difference between the new chat and old chat in the latest patch. We will continue to make changes to the new chat to bring it more in line with the look of old chat. The new chat was meant to be a performance boost, and not a visual change.

We are aware of the chat box sizing being off, and dead chat being a bit different as well. Continue to let us know if you notice any differences and we will check them out!

Improvements

• Slightly increased the font size of 'normal size' chat.
• Decreased the vertical space between lines in a single multi-row chat message.
• Decreased the vertical space between individual chat messages.
• Custom modifiers do not show up in role mentions list anymore

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a visual bug that showed the first win of the day text on the end game screen when it was not your first win of the day.
• Fixed missing day/night chat message.
• Fixed the "paste to chat" button code so that newlines are properly removed when pasting.
• Fixed the spacing in speaker name (between icon and name) to match that the spacing in whisperer name (between icon and name).
• Your character will no longer try to walk to your mouse pointer location when you are dragging the chat log scroll bar.

New Features

• New Experimental Feature: Localization! Town of Salem 2 now supports localization and we are first testing this with Simplified Chinese. We hope to support a total of 11 languages at launch. The language of the game can be swapped from the login screen.
• New visual feature: Interior Lighting! Set your quality slider set at 3 or above to view new lighting in the Player House. Hint: add a wall candle to your interior decor! Enter --args --unlit to completely turn interior lighting off.
• Werewolf kill cinematic added.
• Added a new checkbox to the Settings popup to control whether or not to show the nighttime kill cinematics.
• The Metal Stove, Book Table, Candle Stand, Candle Nightstand, Book Nightstand, Coffin, Blood Moon Totem, and Snow Totem interior decor items are now interactable.

Improvements

• Updated chat system to announce death information at the same rate as the announcements in the Header announcements. This change keeps the suspense going while the death announcements are being made.
• With the introduction of execution animations other than being hanged, updated the 'They died to the noose' message to 'X was convicted and put to death', which is more generic to the type of execution.
• The Experimental Chat is now the default chat. For a period of time, you may revert to the old chat using the --oldchat arg.
• The Previous Game Results screen will now always show role icons in front of the role name.
• The Twitch integration will be less chatty during Trials.
• Friends list is now sorted in the following friend status order: On Home Page > In Lobby > In Game > Offline.

• Added some missing will found/not found messages to the chat system.
• Fixed Z fighting in kill cinematics.
• Soul Collector counter animator made to be more robust.

• Fixed rim lighting and layering issues with various silhouettes, particularly during cinematics.
• Chat, Last Will, Death Note, and Notepad will no longer allow entry of vertical tabs.
• Fixed an issue where the Traitor tag was not displaying properly in the graveyard in games with the Town Traitor game modifier.
• Fixed an issue where the role icon would not display in the Graveyard if settings had Role Icons turned off for chat.
