New Features & Content for the 2nd Playtest Weekend, Happening Now!

Commanders! We have new features and content for the game

This weekend we are running another public playtest for everyone to test the game. Join now!

Explore the map and discover the objectives. Make sure to always stay on the move and look for the next Beacon to call in more Mercs, capture Supply Drops for massive XP rewards and the new powerups, or find the Loot Crates for those precious diamonds you need for the new unlocks and upgrades like the Treasury.



The new powerups add some variety to your run and come in various forms, like the Minefield, a War Cry to rally your squad, the Banananades, and some more.

Your Mercs now also demand their pay. You will spend all Loot you didn't invest before every run on your outfit. So make sure to recruit new Mercs, buy more powerful Gear, research new Traits, or invest in your Treasury to save some of your precious Loot. But now, every run counts!



The UI received a first overhaul to prepare for additional information and data about your Gear and Mercs. We will continue improving the UI and HUD with the addition of more features and a more detailed system with multiple skill trees and level-up paths.

You now also manually choose when to level up your Mercs and Gear. So now you can save those upgrades for your reinforcements!

Apart from these new features and improvements under the hood as preparation for the upcoming content, we fixed a lot of bugs and issues that have been reported by all of you playtesters on our Discord server.

Join the first Survivor Mercs Playtest this weekend!

Lock, load and loot, Commanders!


The first ever playtest for Survivor Mercs is happening!

The playtest starts today, March 3, 2023, and will last over the course of the whole weekend.



Follow these steps to particpate:
  1. Join our Discord server for all details, community and to provide feedback to us directly.
  2. Go to the game's Steam page and put it onto your Wishlist while you're there.
  3. Request Access to the playtest directly from the Survivor Mercs Steam page.
  4. Go into your library and install the "Survivor Mercs Playtest" app.
  5. Play the game.
  6. Fill out the Playtest Survey, leave your feedback on our Discord server and discuss the game with other playtesters.


If you don't see the signup button, you might be too late. But you can contact us on Discord to ask for an access key.

Once the playtest is over, we will decide based on the stability and outcome of the playtest if we continue running it as a closed playtest. Information about the further availability of the playtest will be shared exclusively on our Discord server.

What else do you need to know about the playtest?

Here's what you can do in the playtest:
  • You can test a subset of the randomized Commander, Mercs and Gear on one Map with one Boss. There is more to come in the final game.
  • You will hunt for objectives, collect Loot and try to extract by calling in the Extraction Point at any time - or try and face the boss and risk dying.
  • You can spend your Loot on some new Merc, Gear and Commander Classes. Other Bunker HQ upgrades are still in development and not available right now.
  • DNA is currently not used. The feature to revive and configure your own Commanders is still in development.

Survivor Mercs 1st Showcase @ GG.Bavaria & Playtest Plans

We did it! We showed the game for the first time to the public!
And now we're confident to show it to even more people.

THE EVENT


GG.Bavaria is a local games culture event in Munich, our local Wolpertinger home base, which happened over the course of the last weekend.

We set up our operations in the first floor of the venue with a good vantage point. And the unsuspecting target subjects were lured directly into our ambush!

The game ran smoothly and caught the audience's attention quite early. Occupying a neuralgic choke point allowed us to recruit nearly all players passing our position.






[h3]STEAM DECK[/h3]
In a cloak-and-dagger operation we deployed Survivor Mercs onto SteamDeck. Lo-and-behold, the game ran without any major issues. This immediately tripled our effectiveness.






/cringe mode off


Thanks to all the playtesters who tried Survivor Mercs on the weekend. We received amazing and insightful feedback into the core mechanics of the game. And it is fun!

We demo'ed the basic game runs without the progression and unlock systems. You were able to play with a variety of randomized Commanders and a broad selection of Mercs and Gears to try and survive a 20-minute-run until you would face our first boss.

Our players already created very interesting squad builds to try and survive the enemy hordes, made up of different enemy waves with varying attack patterns. The testers were already hunting for the objectives on the map to grab as much loot as possible, and many figured out how to extract successfully before falling victim to the final onslaught.


THE AFTERMATH


With around 100 sessions played and close to 20 survey participants we already had some first data to look into what the players liked and what they want to see improved.

[h3]CLOSED PLAYTEST[/h3]
Since we received a lot of very positive feedback, we decided to change our plans and host a first closed playtest already in the very near future.

For this we invite everyone who is interested in participating, to join our Discord server. We will be organizing the playtest there and grant access to everyone who wants to participate and provide feedback.
