Playtest Extended Until Monday, 22nd September, 2025!

[p]Thank you to everyone who has participated in the playtest so far. For those of you who haven’t had time to try it out yet, good news - I’m extending it until Monday 22nd September, 2025! [/p][p]
To join:[/p]
  1. [p]Head to the Steam Page and request playtest access.[/p]
  2. [p]Once you have access, descend to Floor 10, find The Crown then retreat back up to Floor 1 to escape the dungeon and beat the game![/p]
  3. [p]Please share your feedback on Discord.[/p]

  • [p]Wishlist the game if you haven't already.[/p]
  • [p]The playtest build only contains a part of the game but, unlike the demo, it’s much more representative of the full gameplay experience.[/p]
  • [p]Compared to the demo (Floors 1-6, 4 character roles), the playtest includes 8 character roles to unlock and opens up the dungeon so that you can test the entire main experience (beating the game by escaping with The Crown).[/p]
[p][/p][p]All feedback is welcome but the focus of the playtest is difficulty. Specifically:[/p]
  1. [p]Is the early game (Floors 1-5) too brutal or too easy?[/p]
  2. [p]How many times can you escape? [/p]
  3. [p]How long does it take to escape? [/p]
  4. [p]What Character Role did you use the most?[/p]

New Expanded Demo! (v0.24.1)

[p]In preparation for Steam Next Fest in October, the demo has been expanded! New additions include: [/p]
  • [p]New Character Roles to unlock - as well as the Rogue, you can now unlock Barbarian, Wizard and Paladin in the demo![/p]
  • [p]New floors to explore - the demo now ends on Floor 6, giving you two more floors to explore and new enemies to discover![/p]
  • [p]New Leaderboard - are you worthy of the Hall of Fame?[/p]
  • [p]Many performance improvements and difficulty balancing tweaks.[/p]
  • [p]Added in-game item descriptions to inventory.[/p]
  • [p]When a new codex entry appears and the “Press Tab” prompt shows up, it now automatically takes the player to the relevant section and highlights the codex entry.[/p]
  • [p]Many more bug fixes - join the discord server to check out the full patch notes.[/p]

Demo updated to v0.22.9

[p]The demo has now been updated to the latest version - v0.22.9. [/p]
  • [p]Major performance improvements.[/p]
  • [p]Many improvements to difficulty balancing.[/p]
  • [p]Added new Cursing Trap.[/p]
  • [p]Aether Crystal now needs to be activated and has a random number of uses.[/p]
  • [p]Added optional in-game FPS counter.[/p]
  • [p]Added 90 FPS and 120 FPS options to Display Settings.[/p]
  • [p]Scroll of Monster Massacre now always selects a monster type that is present on the current floor.[/p]
  • [p]Shops now have a random amount of stock. [/p]
  • [p]Redesigned Hall of Fame (top 10 entries only).[/p]
  • [p]Improved game activity log - now page-based and shows the log for the entire run. [/p]
  • [p]Traps are now more likely to spawn on crown and amulet levels.[/p]
  • [p]Traps don't activate if you are invisible.[/p]
  • [p]Traps can no longer be bypassed.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed bug where wishing for "scroll of remove curse" didn't work.[/p]
  • [p]The Vortex jumps upwards when you are escaping or ascending.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed bug where thralls would sometimes attack peaceful monsters.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed bugs with cages where liberating a monster wasn't decreasing the peaceful chance.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed bug where enemies seeking revenge didn't hunt you down until they saw you.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed bugs with Ring of Loss not firing often enough.[/p]
  • [p]Ring of blast now breaks surrounding cages.[/p]
  • [p]You are invincible as soon as you enter the Vortex now.[/p]
  • [p]Rift map icon now disappears when Rift closes.[/p]
  • [p]Vortex no longer claims food.[/p]
  • [p]Potion of Healing now replenishes health to half of Max HP.[/p]
  • [p]Healing Trap now cures all ailments as well as restoring your health.[/p]

New Demo Now Available!

[p]New DeAnima demo is now available to download! Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on the original demo - it’s been invaluable in helping shape the direction of the full game. As before, the demo is limited to 3 floors of the Dungeon of Dread but now 3 character roles are available to choose from, each with different starting items that dramatically change your playstyle and how you approach the many obstacles and challenges on your run. [/p][p]As before, thanks to the RNG, almost everything else the full game offers may appear in your run, including:[/p]
  • [p]All 26+ monsters from the full game. While some monsters don’t usually appear until later floors that are only available in the full game, there is a chance you might meet late-game enemies earlier, trapped in curious glass cages. [/p]
  • [p]All 80+ unique items including potions, scrolls, wands, rings, and bags.[/p]
  • [p]All NPCs from the full game who assist with tasks like identification and enchantment.[/p]
  • [p]All special rooms, including Zoos, Vaults, Lairs, Stashes, and the mysterious Altar of Sacrifice.[/p]
[p]New features in this update include:[/p]
  • [p]Complete redesign of the entire UI. (This one took a while!)[/p]
  • [p]Full controller support.[/p]
  • [p]Many performance improvements. [/p]
  • [p]Dozens of tweaks to difficulty balancing (very tricky to get this spot on so still working on it but much happier with it now). [/p]
  • [p]Two brand new special rooms (I won’t spoil what they do here). [/p]
  • [p]Sometimes, you can find items scattered around the dungeon on the floor now. [/p]
  • [p]Ability to throw items and not have them all instantly break now (some still break so be careful with this!)[/p]
  • [p]Ability to pray to get out of critical situations. [/p]
  • [p]New Deity anger system related to prayers and Altar of Sacrifice, etc. [/p]
  • [p]Mysterious Tomes scattered throughout the dungeon to collect.[/p]
  • [p]Much, much more that I won’t spoil here! [/p]
[p]Phew! That was a lot! The latest demo is far more reflective of the final release now. It’s almost feature complete - just bug fixing and polishing to go.
