I’m back with another Developer Diary!

The theme of today’s diary is something all Agents have been looking forward to —
2025 new swimsuit, the Sunny Day Adventure Costume! ✧( •̀ᴗ•́ )و

The 2025 Sunny Day Adventure swimsuit costume introduces new tech and lighting effects that make it truly special and more vivid than any of our previous swimsuit costumes.

Let’s take a look at what techs were applied!



[color]■ Sunny Day Adventure Costume! How is it different from previous costumes?[/color]

Unlike our previous swim wear costume releases, the Sunny Day Adventure costume is crafted with a more distinct and vibrant look.

We’ve applied MAT CAP technology through our engine to create a fresh visual experience. On top of that, we adjusted the lighting to enhance the skin texture and smooth curves, making the appearance more natural and appealing.



[color]■ What is MAT CAP?[/color]

MAT CAP (Material Capture) is a technique that simulates how light reflects off skin or fabric, making it appear shiny or glossy, just like in real life!

We first introduced this feature in December 2024 with the Holy Night Bunny (Glossy Version) and have since applied it to Teatime Hound and unique costumes like Herald of Netherworld.



This same feature has been applied to the Sunny Day Adventure costume, giving characters’ skin a more lively and radiant appearance.


[color]■ Lighting Adjustment Details[/color]

In Closers, both your character and NPCs cast shadows depending on the lighting direction and angle of the area you're in.

However, because of the surface shape and orientation of the character model, shadows can vary quite a bit.



Each area in Closers has a unique theme, time of day, and weather,
all of which define the lighting environment of that area.



Just like this, lighting direction and intensity are set differently for each area.
These lighting settings directly affect how shadows appear on characters.

Swimsuit costumes, which feature a lot of exposed skin, unintended shadows can make the skin appear darker than intended.

To fix this, for the Sunny Day Adventure costume, we created new light settings based on the lighting data from each region, ensuring smoother skin highlights and more natural-looking curves.

Of course, some Agents may prefer the original shadows for added depth and realism.

That’s why we’ve added a Light Setting Toggle (On/Off) option!

You can on/off from Character Info (Shortcut P) → Character Skin Change → Light! *⸜( •ᴗ• )⸝*

Now you can choose the lighting style that best suits your preferences!



That wraps up our introduction to the new features in the Sunny Day Adventure costume!

The gorgeous and stylish Sunny Day Adventure costume will be released for all 22 Closers, including Triss, in the upcoming update on August 27.
