Cubic Blade and Rebirth Flame Obtainment Reorganization Concerns

Hi Maplers,

We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the drop rate changes for Cubic Blade and Rebirth Flame items that resulted from the Cube and Rebirth Flame Obtainment Reorganization in v.230 update. We know many of you have been requesting for clarification regarding this reorganization, and apologize for the delay in communication and the frustrations you experienced while awaiting our response. It took some time to investigate your voiced concerns across many teams, and we wanted to have a clear understanding of the situation before we communicated a message to you.

We monitored the v.230 obtainment data for Rebirth Flames and Cubic Blades after the patch, and found that the current implementation of the system has item obtainment limits and drop rates lower than our intention. We apologize for the confusion this discrepancy in the system has caused. The obtainment limits and drop rates will be improved with the v.231 update, tentatively planned for March 16.

The Elite Monster drop rate for the following items in Aurora, Bera, Elysium, Luna, and Scania worlds will be improved with the v.231 update:
 • Cubic Blade
 • Powerful Rebirth Flame
 • Eternal Rebirth Flame
 • Unrelenting Flame
 • Forever Unrelenting Flame

In addition, we will continuously monitor the system and the actual quantity obtained by players to ensure the system is functioning on par with our development intentions.

Thank you,
The MapleStory Team

[Update Mar 15] MapleStory Updating to 64-bit Client with v.231

[Update Mar 15] The Memory Map Input/Output and Max Memory Usage Limit options were originally planned for release with the v.231 update, however they are still under development and their release has been delayed to a future update. We will update with additional information on when these options will be released as soon as the release schedule is determined.

Additionally, we highly recommend that you do a full re-install of the game to avoid any stability issues when upgrading to the 64-bit Client. Thank you!

Attention Maplers,

With the v.231 update, currently scheduled for Wednesday, March 16, 2022, MapleStory's game client will be upgraded to 64-bit, enabling improved performance on modern systems and to help us support MapleStory long into the future. As part of this update, MapleStory will no longer be playable on 32-bit (x86) operating systems.
Why Upgrade to a 64-bit Game Client?
MapleStory on 32-bit was limited in its memory to ~2 GB in usage, depending on the needs of the operating system. With the change to 64-bit, it will allow the MapleStory client to use more memory and improve client performance in various memory-intensive situations. While the 64-bit client will improve some client performance issues, please keep in mind that it will not resolve every issue you may have encountered previously.
How Can I Learn What Operating System I Have?
If you are unsure of what sort of operating system you have running on your PC, you can find out in the "About Your PC" System Setting page:
 • Use the Windows key to bring up the Start Menu, and click on the Gear icon to open up the settings.
 • Under "System" menu, select "About" at the bottom of the sidebar.
 • Look under "System type", which will tell you which type of operating system and processor you have.

It should show one of three possible options:
 • 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor: No changes required, your computer is already set-up and good to go!
 • 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor: Your computer's operating system is still 32-bit, however your system's processor is able to support a 64-bit operating system. In order to play MapleStory after the update, you will need to upgrade your operating system to a 64-bit version.
 • 32-bit operating system, x86-based processor: Unfortunately, your computer is not able to support a 64-bit operating system, and will not be able to run MapleStory after this update.
System Requirements
Additionally, with this update to the MapleStory client, we will be increasing the Minimum and Recommended System Requirements for MapleStory to the below.

System
Minimum Requirements
Recommended Requirements
OS
Updated Windows 7 (64 bit) with Security Update KB3033929 *
Windows 10 (64 bit) and above
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz / AMD Athlon 64 x2 3.0Ghz
Intel Core i3 4.0 Ghz / AMD Ryzen 3 3.5 Ghz and above
RAM (Memory)
4 GB
8 GB or more
Storage
20 GB or more
40 GB or more ^
Graphics Card
GeForce 9600 GT / ATI Radeon HD 3870
Nvidia GTX 1050 / AMD RX 570 and above
Direct X
9.0c
9.0c or later
Network
Broadband Internet Connection
Fibre Internet Connection
 • * While these are the minimum requirements to run MapleStory, you may encounter unforseen scenarios and errors while running on Windows 7.
 • ^ For a smooth installation, we recommend having at least 40 GB of hard drive space available.
Additional Options
[Update Mar 15] These options were originally planned for release with the v.231 update, however they are still under development and their release has been delayed to a future update. We will update with additional information on when these options will be released as soon as the release schedule is determined.

Finally, in a future update, two additional options will be made available in-game in a new 64-bit option menu:
 • Memory Map Input/Output (Default: Off): When enabled, this will allocate additional memory to MapleStory in order to improve data access speeds, improving overall performance.
 • Max Memory Usage Limit (Default: 50% of system RAM): Restricts how much memory that MapleStory can use. A higher cap will improve performance and loading times. When the cap is reached, the system will attempt to release unused memory, which may cause performance issues.

Thank you,

- The MapleStory Team

[Updated] Pink Bean Bulletin: Update #3 on Lag and Server Instability Issues

[Updated February 22 at 3:52 PM PST] As mentioned in this post, we are asking our Maplers to fill out this brief survey about your experience with the performance of specific NA Reboot world channels after the February 17 maintenance. Please fill out this survey by Thursday, February 24th at 7:00 PM PT. Thank you!

Greetings Maplers,

Here’s a little update on what we observed after the February 4th NA Reboot world maintenance.

February 4 NA Reboot World Maintenance
After the NA Reboot world maintenance on February 4, we saw that channels 4, 11, 14, and 18 showed the improvements that we observed when we changed the hardware specs for Reboot world channel 6. However, channels 26, 27, and 28 didn’t seem to improve even when using the same type of hardware spec. The difference between these 2 sets of channels is that we completely rebuilt new machines for channels 4, 11, 14, 18. For channel 26 - 28, since they were already using similar generation hardware, the provider allowed the option to switch to the new type rather than rebuild them. There hasn’t been any information from our service provider on why the channels with the same hardware specs perform differently. Channels 29 and 30 have new setting changes, but these still did not improve even with this different method. As a result, we will focus on rebuilding channels.

February 17 Maintenance
During this Thursday's maintenance, we rebuilt Reboot world channels 1, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 using the new hardware type that we used for Reboot world channels 4, 6, 11, 14, and 18.
We will again post another survey to gather information after this weekend, when the channels have had some time to be played on for a few days. The survey link will be provided here in this post as well as posted in our community platforms. We’d appreciate your active participation and feedback on these surveys.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Sincerely,
Mjollnir64 Bean
