We're introducing another update to version 0.7, with fixes & improvements to the game.

This update introduces some requested balance tweaks to hopefully make the fight for leaderboards a little fairer and the builds used a bit more varied. Plus, we're working on remedying the potential for reaching a god mode status in the Endless game mode, to keep the gameplay exciting and invigorating.

[h2]Endless Balancing Act[/h2]

We're removing the Fatigue system altogether.

Fatigue was a system, that made sure player cannot receive a damage instance higher than up to 10,000 damage. While it was implemented with good intentions, it proved to make the player virtually unkillable in the contemporary versions of the game, in which stats such as HP and Armor can raise almost to infinity. Overall, Fatigue system in 0.7 proved to be detrimental to the Endless mode overall health, nullifying the current and future endgame challenges, and completely breaking the leaderboards.

Horde is now capable of reaching higher stat caps than before, and as such, it should prove a worthy challenger for all that dare to tackle Endless for well over the one hour mark, especially on the higher difficulty levels. Be sure to check the details on the numbers posted in the patchnotes below.

The changes listed above doesn't affect other game modes, and are exclusive to the Endless mode. Other than that, we're also tweaking the Armor stat. The new formula has proved to be exploitable at very high values, so we're slowing its scaling for the late game, while keeping its effect up to 100 intact.

Many of you asked for the Glass of Milk and Frozen Heart items to be nerfed, but we like them too much, so we've buffed them instead... and introduced caps for them so they don't break the game as much.

[h2]Leaderboards & verifications[/h2]

We're doing a leaderboards refresh, keeping the old scores intact (accessible from the Leaderboards interface in-game). As mentioned briefly in patchnote for version 0.7.1, leaderboard refreshes will happen for each update that introduce substantial content or balance changes, such as this one, or the upcoming version 0.8.0. We hope you'll have lots of fun fighting for the top spots!

While on the topic, we'd like to reassure some players, that score verification using a gameplay recording upload was never meant to be taken as a requirement. Verification allows you to both legitimize your score, and to share your gameplay with other players in a fun way. When a top score is verified with gameplay video, this proves to everyone (both you and us) that the spot was well fought and earned.

A quick reminder, that the newest Steam Client allows all players to save the last 2 hours of their gameplay (as default, it can be changed freely), which can be exported as a video and uploaded at your own pace. When your run is longer than the recording time, even the final hour is more than enough to serve as a verification, so don't worry! Simply enable this function in Steam client's settings and have fun!

[h3]GENERAL CHANGES[/h3]
  • Armor calculations tweaked slightly to fall off more at very high values:
    100 = 50% damage reduction (same as before), 350 = 1/3, 700 = 1/4, 1200 = 1/5.
  • Ghost: Shuriken: Single: Spawned Shuriken parameters nerfed (was still a little bit too scary).
  • Item: Frozen Heart: HP gain increased to +5 (from +2).
  • Item: Glass of Milk: Now gives +10 Max HP for every 100 basic, 2 elite, and 1 boss enemy kills.
  • Bonus gains from both items listed above are now limited to 300 activations each.
  • Endscreen interfaces now display the game version number.
  • Powerup selection interfaces and pause menu now display the run timer.
  • Endless: "Fatigue" system removed (it was already removed from UI in the recent updates).
  • Endless: Horde maximum stat caps increased:
    • Damage: x100 -> x10,000
    • HP: x300 -> x500
    • Speed: x2.5 -> x3

[h3]BUGFIXES[/h3]
  • Luck and Armor no longer caps and their values should now be correctly displayed.
  • Specialization point gain bars no longer reset their animation when exiting the Leaderboards.
  • Spider/Blob enemy's spawned cobwebs/green blots should no longer flicker or suddenly disappear.
  • Tank: Fury Unleashed: Cooperation: Yet another fix to make sure it works correctly this time.
  • Engineer: Energy Shield: Particle effects should now properly scale with the size of the shield.
  • Item: Teddy Bear: Now correctly gives +10 Luck.
  • Item: Toilet Paper: No longer grants crazy high amounts of Chemical damage bonus.
  • Item: Schrödinger's Cat: Should now correctly upgrade locked Military Training cards.
  • Item: Skip Rope: Tweaks to make sure it works correctly. Can no longer provide infinite MT.
  • Zombiepedia: Wrong Weapon Cooldown values fixed.
  • Other minor fixes.

[h3]LEADERBOARDS CHANGES[/h3]
  • Leaderboards refresh for version 0.7.2.
  • Added the functionality of displaying scores from previous game versions (currently: 0.7.1).
  • Added some basic checks for game modifications, which disable the automatic score upload.*
  • Some fixes for top scores display & information about the verification was changed slightly.
  • Verification checkmark was changes into either a YouTube or BiliBili icon.
* If you're using mods or trainers, please remember to disable the Leaderboards in the options menu.

As we plan the next major update, we've wanted to add yet another set of changes for version 0.7 still.
Sorry for repeating ourselves, but this is yet another "biggest update". The biggest regular update so far!

We're adding the super secret feature which, as many of you have already guessed, is the Online Leaderboards! Survival Guide is finally ready, Luck is back, and there's a lot of other stuff changed & added, so be sure to check the details listed below, and have fun playing Yet Another Zombie Survivors!

  • Survival Guide:
    • Serves as a fully optional tutorial / condensed in-game wiki.
    • Covers the most important information & concepts of the game.
    • Can be accessed from main menu and the pause menu while playing.
    • Will be expanded to cover new information and upon your feedback.
  • Steam Online Leaderboards:
    • Supported game modes: Endless & Extermination.
    • Every game version has a separate leaderboard.
    • Leaderboards are separate for each Difficulty Level.
    • Can be disabled entirely in Options -> General (cozy mode!).
    • Available in the main menu and on the game mode selection.
    • Top 3 scores are asked to submit a gameplay video (can be added later).
  • Luck stat returns:
    • Increases Magnet and Healthpak spawn rates (~1% per 2 Luck).

[h3]Gameplay & QoL changes[/h3]
  • Game performance, stability, and engine update. Loading screens were added.
  • FSR updated to its newest version - 3.1. Provides much better image quality while also improving the performance. Native resolution anti-aliasing option added in form of Temporal Anti-Aliasing.
  • First batch of UI/UX improvements based on your feedback (some of which are listed below).
  • Survivor busts on "Select Team Leader" screen are now 3D and animated.
  • Synergies between Surviors are displayed on their cards at selection screens.
  • Synergies now correctly scale their damage from the Ability owner's stats.
  • XP, Specialization, and Cash modifiers for the selected map, mode, and difficulty, are now correctly calculated and displayed at the "Select Loadout" page, before starting the run.
  • Tag/damage type description improvements (total damage done & scaling).
  • Players can now use the Conclude Run option in any game mode.
  • Separate controller vibrations option to enable only the important vibrations.
  • Game should now pause when the gamepad/controller disconnects.
  • Skill Tree: Maxed out nodes are now displayed more clearly.
  • Skill Tree: First row of the general skill tree highlighted as permanent upgrades.
  • Other minor tweaks and language/translation improvements.

[h3]General Balance Changes[/h3]
  • Military Training: Infinite options for Survivors now give the same bonus to all team members.
  • Military Training: Each Infinite option can get up to five times rarer the more it's picked.
  • Stats: Base 5 HP/s regen removed (was impeding certain in-game challenges).
  • Skill Tree: Second HP Regen node added as a general skill tree tier 2 option.

[h3]Weapon/Ability/Tag Balance Changes[/h3]
  • Tank: Bombing Strike: +50 Damage, +1 Count (max rank & node).
  • Engineer: EMP Grenade: +100 Damage, +1 Range (max rank & node).
  • Huntress: Weapon reload animation speed increased, allowing for faster attacks.
  • Huntress: Bear Trap: +100 Damage, +2 Count (max rank & node).
  • Ghost: Shuriken: Boomerang: Damage is applied more consistently.
  • Ghost: Shuriken: Single: Splits into additional projectiles on hit (-20% chance each time).
  • Medic: Both Flask weapons has greater throw distance (both first and second flask).
  • Medic: Medical Drone: Can now reach higher attack speeds (similar to Minigun).
  • Medic: Experiment #21: 73: +100 Damage. 13: +50 Damage, +100 Damage per second.
  • Kinetic: Injured: Base damage is now +10% (from +20%). Duration is now 3s (from 5s).
  • Slashing: Damage is now based on the enemy's current health instead of maximum HP.
  • Explosive: 10+ effect: Explosion size bonus is now +10% +1% for every tag over 10.
  • Explosive: New item "The Bomb": +4 tag, increases the explosion size/radius.
  • Fire: Burn: Base damage per tag is now +5 (from +3).
  • Fire: 10+ effect: Chance is now 10% +1% for every tag over 10.
  • Electric: 10+ effect: Chance is now 5% +1% for every tag over 10.
  • Ice: 10+ effect: Chance is now 5% +1% for every tag over 10.

[h3]Item Balance Changes[/h3]
  • Some achievement rewards has switched places and unlock status.
  • "Frozen Heart" and "Skip Rope" are now enabled on Endless.
  • Boxing Gloves: Removed the negative effect.
  • Burger: Decreases max HP by 1/3 (from 1/2).
  • Ruby Gem: Weapon Critical Damage -> Weapon Damage.
  • Slingshot: +30% Weapon Critical Damage (from +40%).
  • Frozen Heart: +2 Max HP (from +1), +0.5 Armor (from +1).
  • Stretcher: Dodge Chance decrease changed to -5% (from -10%).
  • Glass of Milk: Now requires 20 basic enemies (from 10).
  • Skip Rope: Awards tweaked, grants MT point every 5 points.
  • Suspicious Pendrive: Damage increased to 2000 (from 800).
  • Pills: Effect duration increased to 20s (from 10s).

[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • First batch of fixes for the game crashing on certain hardware & software configurations.
  • Synergies will now scale their damage correctly from the stats of the ability's owner.
  • Locked Infinite Level-up option should no longer appear on standard Military Training.
  • Fixes for Survivors sometimes targeting the dead enemies.
  • Fix for Armor stat displaying wrong values above 100.
  • Dodge Chance now has diminishing returns instead of a hard cap (our bad!).
  • Fixes for some Ability Evolutions & Synergies breaking at certain scenarios.
  • SWAT: Turrets should no longer dig into the ground (they are not dwarves).
  • Engineer: Visual effects reworked to prevent the screen flashing visual glitch (fingers crossed this works, otherwise our programmer will need a few years of Zen therapy in the high mountains, having spent dozens of hours trying to fix just that one issue, again, and again, and again).
  • Huntress: Now correctly doesn't change anything when equipped with "Magazine Clip" item.
  • Huntress: Arrows are less likely to get stuck in the air / on invisible targets.
  • Ghost: Shuriken: Single: Should no longer lose its target and get stuck in place.
  • Medic: Medical Drone: Attacks can now properly apply Injured status.
  • Medic: Medical Drone: No longer displays healed amount when HP is at 100%.
  • Other minor fixes.

Apart from fixing the potential bugs that might appear (let's hope not!) in this version, we'll be busy working on version 0.8, which you can expect to come somewhere in early 2025.

For the near future, we plan to work on the things listed below:
  • Fixes and tweaks to the current systems based on your feedback,
  • Customizable starting loadout / Team Leader perks,
  • One Hit game mode rework into something more arcade'y,
  • New gameplay mechanics/map interactables within the playable area?
  • Further improvements to the item system: More items & synergies, possible item upgrades and/or combinations,
  • Further improvements to the difficulty system and/or Boss type enemies & attack patterns,
  • Separate, non-cloud save for in-game settings (e.g. graphics options),
  • Steam Deck support improvements / verification,
  • New map, new Survivor & more synergies,

We're releasing the second hotfix update to version 0.7.0. The changes are as follows:

[h3]GAMEPLAY CHANGES[/h3]
  • You can now continue to Banish options after Reroll on the powerup selection screens.
  • Stats: Dodge Chance: Added diminishing returns to remove the cap.
  • Boomer enemy explosion radius reduced to 2.75 (from 3).
  • Melee weapons no longer cap their speed on high Weapon Cooldown Stat (can attack faster).
  • Tank: Rocket Launcher: Damage from rank-ups and skill tree nodes increased by +25, making it +150 Damage = 500 (from 350).
  • Medic: Medical Drone: No longer caps its fire rate at high Ability Cooldown Reduction (can fire faster).

Yet Another Update 0.7.0a (HOTFIX)

We're releasing the first hotfix update to version 0.7.0. The changes are as follows:

[h3]GAME BALANCE[/h3]
  • Slightly lowered overall game difficulty (especially the number of projectile-spawning enemies).
  • Endless: Horde stat scaling reduced, further lowering the game's difficulty on this game mode.
  • Health Regeneration base (initial) value is now +5 HP/s (from 0 HP/s).
  • Base Cash pickup value increased to 400$ (from 300$).
  • Base Specialization gain increased by around 60%.
  • Cash & Specialization multiplier from Difficulty Levels lowered to 1x/1.5x/2x (from 1x/2x/3x).
[h3]CLASS BALANCE[/h3]
  • Tank: Bombing Strike: Bioweapon: Now has 100% to apply Toxify status effect.
  • Ghost: Thousand Cuts: skill tree node's Cooldown Reduction increased to 0.2s (from 0.1s).
  • Pyro: Blowtorch: attack hitbox enlarged & base damage increased to 250 (from 200).
  • Pyro: Flamethrower: base damage increased to 300 (from 250).
[h3]QUALITY OF LIFE[/h3]
  • Skill tree: Empty nodes are now selectable to improve the controller and keyboard experience.
  • Improved visibility of Chemical explosion effects.
[h3]BUG FIXES[/h3]
  • Green Hell: Fixed Endless difficulty being too high because of wrong wave durations.
  • Fix for the music looping incorrectly at times.
  • Fix for the reported manual aiming issues.
  • Items: Fixed issues with Stretcher, Camping Set, and T-Pose Doll still applying their effects once removed.
  • Tank: Fury Unleashed: Cooldown works properly now when both Ability Cooldown Reduction & Duration are very high.
  • Pyro: Molotov Cocktail: Spray: Cans now correctly rotates according to the laws of physics.
  • Several Achievements had their requirements unified between the in-game and Steam values.
  • Other minor and language fixes.
