One Year Anniversary! Workshop Done! More to Come! TL:DR We

Hey everyone. Strap yourselves in, because this is going to be a LONG one. Or maybe not. Who knows, I'm making it up as I go along AS USUAL.
NOW, before I get all nostalgic on you, know a few things. SteamWorks and Workshop testing are pretty much done! It's coming SOON. So are NEW updates with NEW content and tweaks and fixes and changes and THE SOUNDTRACK with NEW SONGS. We're even prepping a whole NEW EDITION of the game. It's all in the works. GET HYPE. But now, back to the nostalgia...

One year ago we put out this here reboot of Rise of the Triad. We wanted to make a game that was insanely faithful to the original ROTT, specificlly for fans of the original ROTT and old school FPS fans in general. We thought we were making a small game for a small audience.

WE WERE WRONG.

Since revealing this thing back at Quake Con 2012, old school shooter fans, Apogee/3DRealms fans and ROTT fans have been coming out of the woodwork, and somehow you all seemed to end up right here. With us. Playing our crazy culty reboot of a crazy culty game - week in and week out - for over a year since release. Crazy, innit? ːKoinː

And it's done a lot for all of us involved. Interceptor Entertainment, once a mod team, is now a fully realized game development studio in Denmark. Fresch and the guys are busy working on a new game called Bombshell (and still working on ROTT of course). And if you hadn't heard, they also acquired 3DRealms. No really. Interceptor owns 3DRealms now. Wild. Almost as wild as Fred's hair. ːclaughː

The team members who didn't stay with IE after ROTT have mostly gone on to work at bigger studios such as IO Interactive, Cryptic, Wargaming, The Creative Assembly and more. It's pretty wild. Have I said that enough yet? Well, this whole thing has been pretty wild, MAN.

I even started my own small company with some friends (hi Aaron) called New Blood Interactive. We're making games, art, music, all sorts of nonsense. We also just helped put out The Red Solstice on Steam. GO CHECK IT OUT.

And Apogee? They're BACK IN ACTION. Hard at work publishing more ROTT content, re-releasing old gems from the back catalog - and even working on some super top secret projects you're probably going to love. I think we can all agree the world is a better place with the Apogee logo in it. YEAH IT IS.

But we couldn't of gotten here without YOU. Everyone who has been here with us since day one. Everyone who bought the game. Everyone who loved the game. Hell, even everyone who hated the game. You have all helped us to become better game developers, artists, coders, animators, marketers, admins, musicians, sound engineers, forum mods, community managers, PR people, and just better people in general.

Your feedback, your involvement, your countless hours of playing over the past year have shaped us all into better people - and for that we are eternally thankful. Have some porridge. It's on the house. ːPorridgeː

BUT SOME OF YOU DESERVE MORE THANKS THAN OTHERS.

After ROTT '13 came out we were a small team faced with a bigger game launch than we ever could have anticipated. The game still needed work, and we needed help. Some of you stepped up in a BIG way. And still do to this day.

So to the ROTT community mod/testing/whatever team: Shadow, Hackman, Andy, Gingy, Lain, Jefe, Earth, Avain, Callahan, Cannibal, Tempus, Riet and even Lotica. Not to forget our actual factual QA lead James, Terry from Apogee, herr Fresch, Level Lord Leon, Art God Chris (topher from England), Shredmaster Andrew and of course our based polski programmer: Grzegorz (and the new guy Aleksandr). THANK YOU. For keeping ROTT alive. For keeping the community involved. And for continuing to make the game better every day. ːTriadː

Our community may be small, but everyone knows we're insanely active, and just pretty insane in general. You only have to show up to Saturday Night ROTT once to figure that out. ːGibː

And speaking of SNR. To that Gijz guy - thanks for making all these dumb videos. We love them. Never stop. Ever. No really. DON'T EVER STOP: https://www.youtube.com/user/Gijzzzzzzz

Ahh, such memories...

You know, I was hanging out drinking with Tom Hall one time and he said something to me that I've come to realize is very, very true.

I was telling him about Rise of the Triad fans. I was trying to describe you guys. But I couldn't quite put it into words. I said, "You know, ROTT fans... they're... they're..."

But before I could think of the word he stopped me there and said... "Kinda weird about it?!"

YEAH. KINDA WEIRD ABOUT IT.

So here's to you!
Here's to us!
To the werid ones!

And to ROTT.

May the gibs always be plentiful and may they always be LUDICROUS
