v1.3.12 is OUT NOW!
[p]The day is finally here, after a little over 2 months in development we're happy to announce the full release of SCP – Containment Breach v1.3.12![/p][p]In this post we're looking to give you an overview of the existing features, as well as an outlook on what else is planned![/p][p][/p][h2]Modding System[/h2][p]Probably the biggest selling point of this update is the modding system with Steam workshop integration that currently allows for modifying resources, like models, textures and sounds, as well as data, such as rooms (modifying existing and adding new ones!), items and SCP-294 drinks.[/p][p]
[/p][p]A bunch of existing mods have already been ported, along with some new ones. Two mods you should definitely check out are the Half-Life total conversion mod Resonance Cascade, as well as the 1.4 LCZ rooms mod, which gives a small glimpse at what a 1.4 may have looked like![/p][p][/p][h3]Updated CBRE-EX[/h3][p]Specifically to complement the new modding system we've updated the open source CBRE-EX room editor to support placing items and doors directly in your rooms![/p][p]
[/p][h2]4k Support[/h2][p]Supporting 4k resolutions is not just about not having the game crash when trying to play it at a resolution above 1080p, it's also about adding quality of life features to actually make the game enjoyable at those resolutions.[/p][p]This means scaling the HUD to actually make it legible on the "big screen"...[/p][p]
[/p][p]...but also allowing its elements to be moved towards the screen's center for ultrawide monitors![/p][p]
(exaggerated for demonstration purposes)[/p][p]This also exposed some of the HUD elements (especially the inventory icons) as being ridiculously low resolution, which we are hoping to alleviate soon™! For now, here's a "small" teaser, courtesy of Inward3D:[/p][p]
[/p][h2]Localization[/h2][p]SCP-CB should be accessible and enjoyable to everyone, independently of their understanding of the English language, which is why another big feature is the support for other languages! The currently available languages are Russian, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese (both Portugal & Brazil), German and Polish. You can change your game's language under "Properties..." in your Steam library! Many other languages are already actively being worked on by dedicated community members, and we're always happy to have more people help translate the game into their language![/p][p]
We are currently working on recreating various assets found throughout the game to make them available to be localized as well![/p][p][/p][h2]Speedrunning[/h2][p]There is a very sizable community dedicated to beating SCP-CB as fast as possible in various ways. In close cooperation with them we've made v1.3.12 the definite version for speedrunning the game as well, with an integrated timer, as well as the ability to enter numeric seeds directly![/p][p]
We've also fixed a whole bunch of issues specifically affecting speedrunners, and with the much faster loading times it's generally a much more enjoyable to repeatedly play new runs of the game. All in all I'm excited to see the world records that are going to be set in this version! :)[/p][p][/p][h2]Miscellaneous Quality of Life Improvements[/h2][h3]Field of View[/h3][p]Allowing the FOV to be adjusted from is a no-brainer, as it makes the game more comfortable to play for some.[/p][p]

[/p][p]What more is there to say![/p][p][/p][h3]Linux / Steam Deck Improvements[/h3][p]Solely by upgrading the engine to use DX9 instead of DX7 the game already runs almost flawlessly on Linux via Proton, but we've made some additional changes, like writing a platform-independent library for rendering the startup movies, as well as adjusting some of the UI scaling on low resolution screens to make it a pretty much flawless experience on both Linux itself and the Steam deck![/p][p][/p][h3]Revamped Launcher[/h3][p]The launcher in v1.3.11 is a broken mess, some options don't even work and it's full of clutter.[/p][p]
[/p][p]We've updated it by sorting the resolutions by aspect ratio, explicitly marking the monitor's default aspect ratio and resolution to nudge users towards it, as well as make it more visible.[/p][p]We've also completely removed the graphics driver selection, as modern systems do not require manually selecting a GPU.[/p][p][/p][h3]Steam Achievements[/h3][p]This one should be obvious, but of course we've ported the game's achievements to be on Steam as well. Thus far ~1.6% of people have beaten the game on Keter difficulty, so you can definitely be proud if you can count yourself among those![/p][p]
A missing achievement for SCP-066 has also been added![/p][p]In the future we're planning for achievement icons (at least on the Steam side) to become a bit more... colorful.[/p][p]
[/p][h2]Bug Fixes[/h2][p]Bug fixes, bug fixes, bug fixes. If there's one thing this release is filled to the brim with it's bug fixes.[/p][p]The complete list of fixes is impossible to list here, you can check out the commit history on GitHub to get an idea. Here's a very small selection of a few bug fixes that I consider rather important:[/p]
- [p]Fixed certain seeds not generating required rooms, making beating the game impossible[/p]
- [p]Fixed certain seeds having rooms overlap, causing them to become untraversable (courtesy of Sooslick).[/p]
- [p]Fixed SCP-966's achievement triggering very inconsistently.[/p]
- [p]Fixed the clerk NPC potentially not dying to the Tesla Gate.[/p]
- [p]Fixed a ton of floating buttons and security cameras in various rooms.[/p]
