Demo Update (0.1.4B)

Fellow Hunters,

First of all thanks to everyone for playing! I've received lots of feedback to work on, and this patch fixes some of the bigger ones. It also makes the game easier as it was proven to be quite difficult.
Patch notes
- Reduced the base range of the sentry (10m to 6m), the increased range perk now adds 4m.
- Reduced the scaling of the amount of zombies when with multiple players.
- Reduced the scaling of HP of zombies when with multiple players.
- Increased the delay of which the zombies attack from 0.7s to 1s. (Does not affect player controlled zombies)
- Disabled the zombies throwing limbs for now as it was problematic. (Does not affect player controlled zombies)
- Rebalanced the zombie spawn curve.
- Zombie starting base HP is now 80 (from 100) and ends up at 180 (from 200) at the end of the round. (Does not affect player controlled zombies)
- Added a delay in the attack hit-scan when a zombie would melee attack. (Does not affect player controlled zombies)

- AKM inventory ammo is increased from 200 to 300.
- F1 inventory ammo is increased from 200 to 240.
- R870 inventory ammo is decreased from 200 to 99.
- MP5 inventory ammo is increased from 200 to 300.
- UMP45 inventory ammo is increased from 200 to 320.
- Uzi inventory ammo is increased from 200 to 320. (Unobtainable in demo)
- P90 inventory ammo is increased from 200 to 500. (Unobtainable in demo)
- Double Barrelled shotgun has its damage vastly increased.
- M1911 now has unlimited ammo, but with reloading. This is to make sure you always have a way to deal damage to zombies. (In case you spend points on other things than ammo and ending up not having bullets and enough points)
- Flamethrower has its damage reduced from 1 dmg per tick to 0.75 dmg per tick.

- Updated the spawning system to pick one based on distance. If no spawns are far away enough from Hunters a random one will be picked.

- Added more lights to the Factory map when it's dark.
- Fixed a glitch spot on the Tropicana map.
- Fixed several glitch spots on the Factory map.
- Fixed several glitch spots on the Port map.
- Fixed a blur issue with windows on the Factory and Tropicana map.
- Fixed a bug where zombie corpses would pop up for frame when being reused.
- Fixed a bug where all players would unlock the skin in the Casino map when someone would win one on the slotmachine.

Some bigger changes are coming later this month. Stay tuned!

The Demo is released!

Fellow Hunters!

With great pleasure I can tell you all that the demo has been released! Enjoy your stay at the apocalypse. It's been a long ~2.5 years of work and many months to come before it fully releases.

In the Demo you can level up to rank 20, and unlock anything that is available till that level. Any progress you make during the Demo will carry over to the main game when it releases.

And some other news:

Ravenous Horde is part of the OTK Games Expo! Join in on Twitch on May 25th to see what is coming for Ravenous Horde!
What's next?
For starters: expect a patch next week to fix any immediate issues. I've seen some minor ones that need addressing such as:
- Some Japanese/Chinese/Korean characters are not shown correctly or at all at some places
- AI zombies are throwing bodyparts like there's no tomorrow when they get angry
- Some glitchy blurred objects on some maps
- AI zombies are coming in high numbers with high HP even at a lower amount of hunters
- Balancing some weapons (double barrelled shotgun for example feels weak)

After that, it's working on content. Some of it might end up available in the demo (as its available at rank 20 or lower) and most not. You will be able to see some of the content but not be able to interact with it, such as higher level perks or clothing.

Thank you all for your support! In whatever way you did :)
Go check out the Demo, bring some friends and let me know what is good and what needs improvement!

Map updates, Traps and weapon upgrades

Fellow Hunters,

Some additions have been made to the gameplay to make it more enjoyable. All maps now have 2 traps.
For now all of them are flamethrower traps, but expect a few to change or some different ones to be added over time as the release date of the full game gets closer.

You can activate them by their red control panel. They have a cost (1000 points for now), a duration and a cooldown after the duration. So decide wisely when to use them!

Another addition is that every map now has an upgrade booth. At the upgrade booth you can upgrade your currently equipped weapon for a price. You can upgrade all weapons 5 times (even some special equipment, like the flamethrower), each time having an increased cost to do so. But in return your weapon will do up to 50% more damage. Costs vary from 1000 up to 10.000 points, so again be wise in when to go for an upgrade or when to not do it if you are the top scorer of the match and the ability to become the last hunter is in range!
Other things in the works
I've been very busy with setting up the demo, polishing the game and making sure its currently in its best state it can be. Localization is nearly done and then there are some other things I need to add such as having the score always be displayed on your screen so you don't have to look at the scoreboard to check your score.

Also I just started on some new content. Some might be in the demo and most is reserved for the full release. However I can share that this thing in the picture below will be added to the game, however it'll be exclusively for the Last Hunter, so you better work your way up the scoreboard in the game!

As always, thanks for all the support so far!

Demo Release Date

Fellow Hunters,

To dive straight into it: May 9th marks the day the Demo will be released! You can view the demo page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3577400/Ravenous_Horde_Demo/

It's been a long road but the game is in a great state! Since the last post in January lots of improvements have been made and the game is polished a lot more.
Changes since the start of the year
The game now tracks several statistics, from how much you play to how much you fired every weapon.

You can now select skins for your weapons! Some have to be earned, some have to be found and for some you need to be lucky. More skins are planned (free and paid for later when the game releases)

The UI got cleaned up a lot. It's easier on the eyes and not as horrible as before.

Loads of other small changes have been made, some interesting and most not. Here are some examples:
 • When you level up, other players in the match get a notification. (Important for the social aspect :))
 • On the input rebinding page, the bindings are now placed in categories.
 • Muzzle flashes on all weapons and the 3rd person characters have been improved.
 • Dismembering gore is now a bit more in your face.
 • Weapon audio has been improved for most guns, they all sound unique now.
 • Added headshot support, you gain a few extra points for doing so.
 • Zombies now have another ability called Zombie Vision, this allows to see more clearly. (It also outlines your allies for now, not sure about this feature yet. Perhaps it should be a perk)
 • On your UI (both as Hunter and Zombie) you now see accurately which buttons you should press on your keyboard to do which action.
 • You can now invite friends or join them through Discord and Steam into the server you are in.
Demo Limitations
The demo comes with some limitations. The main one is that your rank is capped at 20. This means that you are limited to 9 weapons and a few perks / cosmetics which are all rank based.

As the full game gets updated throughout the year the demo will also be accordingly.
The Full Game
Now there are a lot of things to do for the full game, such as designing paid skins and cosmetics so I can buy groceries. But as mentioned in the previous post, new maps, special equipment and the last hunter specific weapon are also on the to-do list!

It's a long way to go but I feel the game is starting to make big leaps.
Playtest
If you happen to still have access to the Playtest version, tomorrow and Sunday the playtest server goes up at 7PM (GMT+1 / CEST) and stays up for 3hours.
Feel free to join and check out any bugs that might occur :)
If you don't have access and would like to join, hit me up on the socials!

Thank you all for the support so far and reading this. I'll go back to work :)
