PAYDAY 2: Cartel Business Update - Hotfix 2.1

Addressing skins from the Sputnik Safe

Addressing the recent issues with skins from the sputnik safe and a crash issue.
With the update from last week, we started seeing reports about skins from the Sputnik safe. All skins within the Sputnik safe were given a new id meaning that any skin in this safe would appear as a different Sputnik 3 skin. We have now restored the skin ids and the skins have now returned to the skin they were supposed to be.

Please take extra care when buying skins from the Sputnik Collection.
Since the item listing in search results may be incorrect please take extra care and make sure the item you purchase is the one you want to buy.

We are still experiencing issues with the steam marketplace listings.
We recommend not buying or selling any items from the Sputnik Collection until we've updated this announcement.

Update size: 27.6MB General
 • Fixed crash or endless loading issue related to Ethan with the winter parka outfit
 • Revered skins from the Sputnik Safe that got converted into different skins from the same safe

Sputnik Safe Update

Thank you all for being patient, giving us the chance to ensure we provide the correct and hopefully best information we can. We’ll go through events and solutions here.
 1. The changes to safes caused a couple of problems, which lead to a number of issues collectively called the Rodina bug. The issue was that skins from the Sputnik safe had begun appearing as other skins from the same safe.
 2. Late last week we emailed Valve and asked for assistance solving the various issues, they helped us remove all the faulty listings on the marketplace.
 3. For some of you, you’ll have got drops from the Sputnik safe that turned into other skins during the process, the skins you have now are the ones that dropped in reality.
 4. The above-mentioned issue also created copies of some of the skins from the Sputnik safe. As of Monday, any copy-skins were made untradeable to prevent further disruption to the marketplace. If you were unfortunate to receive a copy-skin, these will be functional in-game but remain untradable until the next game update.

We confirmed with Valve that you are eligible for refunds if you purchased a skin from the Sputnik Collection during the period of the bug 27 Feb - 06 Mar. Just contact Steam Support and refer to this message.

PAYDAY 2: Cartel Business Update - Hotfix

Hello heisters!

Last week we released the Cartel Business Update with a new Bank for you to break into. Since then we have been working to fix some of the bugs the crept into the release. In the hotfix today we are releasing fixes for Jacket’s Piece in when using the new weapon color system, Bonnie and Ethan turning invisible when using the raincoats and the bank lobby disappearing if you were standing in a particular spot in the level.

But we are, on top of the hotfix, activating two new language options:

日本語 and 中文

We are very happy to announce that we now have PAYDAY 2 available in two new languages with increased support for our friends in the east. Japanese and Chinese language support is now available and can be activated from the “properties” of the game in your Steam library.

To find this setting right-click on the game and at the bottom of the popup menu you will find “properties”. In the window that appears open the tab “language” and here you can choose the language you want to play the game in.

As always our localizations are made by fans that volunteer their efforts to translate the game and as with all other languages, it is a constant and never-ending work in progress. But we are incredibly lucky to be able to say that the language translations are complete.

We want to extend a massive thank you to Riki7119 for the work on bringing the Japanese translations to a fully translated state. We also want to thank Rico.Se7en, Roka0221, and cyscjackson for working on the Chinese translations and an extra thank you to the PDLG fan group for the work on the 《收获日2》PDLG汉化 mod that was used as the base for the localization. Without all of these people, releasing these languages would have taken a lot longer.

If you are interested in the localization of the game we have a separate forum where our translators jump in from now and then. https://steamcommunity.com/app/218620/discussions/20/

PAYDAY 2: Cartel Business Dev Stream

We're hosting a developer stream, to talk about what's new in the Cartel Business update that dropped for PAYDAY 2 earlier today. We will also be covering some questions we've gathered through Steam and Reddit.

PAYDAY 2: Cartel Business Update

We bring an awesome update packed to the brim with loot and goodies. We got heisting, guns and suits and much much more for you to explore. There’s action and tension waiting for you on CrimeNet. We stay south of the border for a good ‘ol American bank robbery with a heavy Mexican flair.

The San Martín Bank Heist

Our favorite heisters are enjoying their stay south of the border but this time an old friend has a task for them. Vlad wants you to steal some precious treasures hidden in a bank vault. He prefers the thrill of going in loud through the front door, gun drawn and masks on. But if you want to take the sneakier route there are other options available. Just be careful over there - don’t expect the Mexican police force to go easy on you, ‘cause they won’t.

New Full Auto Pistols

There has never before been so much bang for the buck in a weapon pack as with the Federales Weapon Pack, there’s a combined fire rate of 2851 rounds per minute across three pistols. With single and akimbo variants you will be able to black out the sun with flying helmets. The full auto pistol arsenal of PAYDAY 2 just got a 300% increase in the number of weapons on offer. If you enjoy the sound of thousands of rounds echoing over the AO this is the DLC for you.

New Outfits

Music and clothing are two of the most powerful statements of personal style and belief one can make. From the Hippies in the 1960s, fighting against warmongering politicians, to the Punk Rockers in the 70s and 80s, smashing guitars over the head of capitalism, or rappers busting rhymes against oppression. And some people simply prefer an orchestra mixed with gunfire and explosions, wandering the Earth with a gun in one hand and a trumpet in the other, looking for wrongs to make right. They have been effective avenues for informing society at large if you play by the rules or not - a sure way to either show your conformity or to say "FUCK YOU!" to the establishment.

Custom Weapon Colors

Do you feel you need more variety in your arsenal? Do you feel the need to pimp out your guns? Perhaps make them match that snazzy outfit you are wearing or the mask covering your face. No one says you can’t look good while mowing down the cops. With 20 different colors to customize your weapons, you will not be without options. There are even some free colors to let you try out the system and see what you can do. Each of the colors can be applied to any weapon in the game and with 6 different application sets and 5 wear states to choose between. With this DLC you will have well over 600 variants for each of your weapons.

Safes, Drills and the Marketplace

As some of you have seen in my announcement last week we are changing how our weapon skin safes and drills work. You will no longer be able to sell or trade a drill or an unopened safe on the marketplace as of this update, and you will no longer be able to buy drills for the older safes. However, all old safes that used to require a drill will now be openable without the need for any drills. If you have old safes in your inventory you will now be able to just open them like our more recent safes. Furthermore, all the safes that have once been in the rotation but were removed will now be added to the pool of safes you can receive in a loot drop.
Why are we doing this?
These changes are made because of certain legal aspects connected to sales of digital items with a random outcome. Since drills are part of the mechanic of opening a safe, we will remove these items as well.
What will happen with your old Drills?
If you have old drills in your inventory they will be converted to a safe of the corresponding type. A “Dallas drill” will become a “Dallas safe”. The new safe will be openable right away and you can claim the skin inside.
Will something change with the skins?
No, the skins will function just as they do now. You can use, sell, buy and trade them just like normal.
What Safes and Drills are affected by this change?
All safes will be made nonmarketable and nontradeable. This change will affect every safe even if they did not require a drill. You will no longer be able to purchase drills directly. Drills in players’ inventories will be made nonmarketable and nontradeable.
The following safes will be made openable without a drill and will return to the drop table for available safes:
 • Sputnik Safe
 • Bodhi Safe
 • Dallas Safe
 • Wolf Safe
 • Jimmy Safe
 • Sydney Safe
 • Crimefest 2 Safe

Any drills currently in a player’s inventory safes will be converted into its corresponding safe on the next launch of the game.
What will happen with the items in the Steam marketplace?
Any item currently on the market place will remain on the marketplace until these items are taken off the marketplace, either but a successful purchase or the original owner taking the item back. Once these items are in a players’ inventory these items will be updated according to the changes outlined above.
Why are we adding more safes to the drop table?
Without the need for drills, the older safes work just like any other safe. And we wanted to bring a greater variety of skins to our players. Some of these old safes had very short runs in the rotation and therefore there are a lot of players that never had a chance to get these skins. We wanted to make all the skins available to everyone. That being said, since these safes are rare we want them to keep that sense of rarity. All our safes have different drop chances based on the safe type, and these safes will be a rare drop similar but not identical to “event safes”.
What about the safe and drill gained from the Completely Overkill Pack DLC?
Since that safe and drill were not tradable or marketable from the beginning and these safes have never been in rotation, this safe and drill will be completely unaffected by these changes. The Completely Overkill Pack safe will NOT be added to the drop table of available safes.

It’s better to heist and loot than to never have heisted at all.

Upcoming changes to PAYDAY 2’s safes (and drills)

Hello Heisters

We want to inform you about changes to how our safes function, these changes will come into effect sometime next week. Currently, there are 7 safes that aren't in the drop rotation. These safes represent the first safes we released that, at the time of release, required drills to open them.
Due to legal rulings concerning the purchase of digital items, we're going to be making some changes to our safes to make sure we're in compliance with the relevant laws.

So what exactly are we changing?

Today, the only way to get the above-mentioned safes is to go on the Steam marketplace, buy a safe, and then buy a corresponding drill.
Going forward, these safes will be added to the regular rotation of droppable safes (at a low chance), and be openable without a drill. Any safes you may have in your Steam inventory will also be made openable without a drill.
Following that, we're removing the option to buy drills, anyone who has a drill in their inventory will see them replaced with a safe of the same type so a 'Dallas Safe drill' will turn into a 'Dallas Safe'. This will increase the number of skins from those safes in circulation and also make new ones more likely to appear in the future. For those of you thinking “I can buy drills now and get a lot of safes when the change happens” - yes, you could. Keep in mind however, that by the time these changes go live, it’s likely more skins will be put up on the market overall.

In addition to these changes, we are also removing the option to sell and trade safes on the marketplace or between users. You can still buy and trade the skins but you need to open the safe you get in the loot drops first.

What does this mean for me?

If you don’t currently have any safes or drills in your Steam Inventory, you will not notice any immediate changes. The main thing for you to notice is that you have an increased range of safes that can drop during your next loot card drop at the end of a heist.
If you have any safes in your inventory - Your safes will remain in your inventory. The main change is that your safe is now not tradeable, the skins are still marketable as usual.
If you have drills in your inventory- Your drill will be removed from the Inventory the next time you launch the game. Instead you will find a safe of the same type as the drill(s) you had. This safe will function as described above.

When is this change coming to the game?

We will be making these changes sometime next week. The date is still to be determined.
We are still putting together community safes so you will see more awesome skins from our talented skin artists appear from time to time.

The tl;dr:

No more drills, no more unavailable safes and no more safes in the marketplace.
We are making some changes to our safes to ensure that the popo won’t raid us (again). You still have a couple of days to purchase safes and drills with our current system, but after we make the change you can open any safe* without having to purchase a drill.

*The COP safe and drill will remain unchanged.
